The Land of Lightning; Indra's Spear!

I growled in frustration. "Damn it Uchiha! You know I hate Genjutsu!" I shouted into the abyss of darkness. Several Sasuke's surrounded me as I sunk further into black tar. The Sasuke's smirked cockily, amused by my frustration.

I narrowed my eyes on the closest one. Alright then, two can play at that. I sighed and closed my eyes, feeling my chakra coat my body. Focus on it. Focus on the current. Cover my whole body with it then make it burst!

I snapped my eyes open as I forced it to burst out. The jutsu immediately broke and Sasuke fell from the hit.

I snapped my fingers. "Ha!" I smirked at the glaring boy in front of me. He frowned, not happy by my gloating. "Sasuke, Miyuna." I immediately frowned at the voice. Great.

I turned to see four eyes. I've never liked him. The more I got to know him the more I began to hate him. And I absolutely loathe the fool. "Orochimaru is sending you and Haruto out on a mission. Come." He turned, heading back towards the hide out.

I groaned loudly. "He is such a slave driver." I complained, shaking my head.

Sasuke chuckled from next to me. "Come on." I rolled my eyes as Sasuke followed after. I trailed after, watching his back. I could tell his face is void of any emotion, as it has basically always been.

But it's different now. He's getting worse. His darkness grows everyday. His back is lean and held confidence. But it's a back that holds darkness too. Shaking my head I walked next to him. I won't let him travel it alone.

"Yo!" An arm draped over my shoulders as well as Sasuke's. I looked over to see Haru between us, a smirk on his face. "Team Haru is out on a field mission."

I raised an eyebrow at him. "Excuse me? Who died and made you team leader?" I questioned. He frowned at that. "Hey, I've been here longer then either of you. I have more experience." He stated like I actually cared about that.

I snorted. "That means nothing to me. You're still technically a Genin. I'm a Chunin. That makes me in charge." I smirked at his immediate look of distaste.

He turned to Sasuke. "Are you gonna take that? You're a Genin too." Sasuke shrugged, an impassive look on his face. Haru sighed. "Great talk Uchiha." He grumbled before turning to me. "Let's be honest. I may be a Genin, but I'm at least on a Jonin level." Well, he's not wrong.

Haru is incredibly strong. However he's a wanted criminal, just like us. We can't simply take a test to get on a higher level. "Yeah, but I can totally kick your scrawny ass." I teased with a smirk.

He pulled back, hand to his chest, mock offended. "Ouch. If I remember correctly we're in a tie." I rolled my eyes but chuckled none the less.

Haru has been my sparring partner since I got here. Even before we were on the same side, we've been relatively evenly matched. So we're often left in ties, or the other wins the next round, and so forth.

We're evenly matched, as much as that pains me to say. But just because I can't quite pulverize him to dust, doesn't mean I hate him. He's really helped me out more then I thought I'd get.

We entered a dark room, Orochimaru stood in front of a steel table, looking at a beaker filled with a translucent orange liquid.

He turned at the sound of our footsteps. "Sasuke, Haruto, Miyuna." He placed the beaker down and turned a sly smile on his face. This is going to be troublesome, isn't it? Haru nodded in respect. "Lord Orochimaru." He greeted, his playful attitude gone.

"I need you three to go to the Land of Lightning and retrieve some . . . documents." He pondered the word carefully. More documents? What is with this guy and documents? But the ones he usually sends us to retrieve are high class and heavily guarded.

"What kind of documents?" Sasuke questioned, arrogance laced in his voice. He's really the only one who gets away with taking attitude with him.

It's totally unfair, but he is the new vessel. Of course he's going to be treated better.

"I need them for my research. It'll be at the Temple of Indra. Hidden in the shrine. I trust you'll find them and return with them safely." That's it?

At least throw us a bone or something. "Hn." Sasuke turned, heading out. Haruto and I bowed. "We shall return with it My Lord." Haru informed. We exchanged glances and nodded, following after Sasuke.

We may have fought over whose leader, but it's general consensus that Sasuke is the leader. Not necessarily because he's the best suited.

I mean he can be a good leader when he wants to be. But he would never follow anyone's orders. It's best to just adapt to him and assist.

"Still, the Land of Lightning is a six day trip from here." Haru muttered in annoyance. I pursed my lips, not at all happy with it either. "Well, the sooner we get there, the sooner we get home. C'mon." He huffed but we flanked Sasuke's sides.

I wonder what these documents are about. And why are they at a shrine of all places? Wait a minute, Indra? Where have I heard that name before? It's all kind of strange.

Orochimaru isn't much on God's. And God's hardly have anything to do with documents he would want. So, what are these? And what's that slithery bastard up to?

I guess we'll figure that out in six days.

~

"Well at least it's not as dreary as the Village Hidden in the Rain." I said, staring at the gray storm clouds spread across the vast sky. "Well, it's a lot nicer." Haru admitted, staring at the sky in approval.

However Sasuke merely continued walking. "You're no fun." I stated. Haru made a noise of approval.

Sasuke sighed, looking back at us. "We have a mission. Let's just get this done and over with and go back." He said. I groaned in annoyance. Jeez, he's just no fun.

"Ever hear of living life to the fullest Uchiha?" Haru asked, sarcasm dripping from his voice. "Ever hear of shutting up?" Sasuke replied, not bothering to look back at us.

"Good comeback." Haru rolled his eyes, but followed none the less. "Seriously, that comeback was pretty lame. We gotta work on that." I told him, propping my arm on his shoulder as we walked. Which is kind of hard and a bit difficult considering he's taller then me and we're walking.

This time he rolled his eyes at me. "I'm so sorry to disappoint you 'sensei'." The corner of my lip tugged up and I removed my arm and gave him a side hug. "That's my boy." To this he smiled, ever so lightly.

But that small action made the smile on my face grow. Releasing him I walked in step with him. "Haru?" I asked, glancing back at him. He nodded and quickly walked by us.

He stared at the mountain in front of us. "Up there, hidden in a cave is the shrine." Alright, simple enough. However . . .

I glanced at the rocks on the mountain. "How many?" Sasuke questioned me. "Either these guys knew we were coming, or this document is pretty important. Thirty-two. And based on their chakra levels I'd say they're a bunch of Chunin." I informed.

Haru tilted his head, eyes scanning the rocky terrain. "Do you think they spotted us yet?" Right as he asked that, an array of projectiles was headed our way. I quickly put my chains out and created a barrier around us.

The knives, arrows, and other projectiles deflected off the surface of the barrier and some explosions set off.

"I'm going to take that as a yes." He mused. He turned his gaze to Sasuke. "What now boss?" Sasuke stared at the mountain, a calculating look on his face. "Miyu, shake them up a bit." I smirked and faced the base of the mountain. "With pleasure."

Putting down my barrier I rushed at the mountain. Brining back my fist, I slammed it harshly against the side of the mountain, careful not to break it, but made it shake.

A few men fell from the sudden ground movement. At that, Haru lunged forward, sword back. I followed suit and attacked the nearest one while Sasuke quickly ran in the direction of the shrine.

Three ninja ran at me. Ducking under his strike, I moved behind him, hooking my leg behind his and yanking, making him fall. I bent backwards, avoiding a sickle.

Reaching up I grabbed the chain and tugged, making the person holding the chain fly my way. Ever so swiftly I swung my leg, slamming into his face. He fell to the ground, knocked out. "Ha!" A woman swung a giant sword.

I jumped up, landing delicately on the blade and moved forward.

I back flipped away; making my foot hit her from underneath her chin.

Quickly making do with the adversaries near me, I headed up the mountain, fighting off the others as well. Haru and I quickly fought off the ninja's.

As I made it to the top, I faced two women. Twins. "Alright. So how'd you know we were coming?" I asked.

The one on the right scoffed. They wore their pale brown hair up in a ponytail, their cold gray eyes holding anger and disgust.

But they shared a mark under their left eye. Now that I think about it, all of the ones I fought had the same mark, but in different places.

Almost like a crescent moon with a circle in the cave with a lightning bolt on it.

They're no ordinary ninja. It's not that they knew we were coming. They're protecting something. The documents perhaps?

"You are not welcomed here. Leave. You will not go near Indra's treasure." The one on the left growled.

Indra's treasure? That doesn't sound like documents. "Ha!" They lunged, brandishing their weapons of choice. One wielded a sicle and chain, the other a scythe. They swung.

Jumping away, I analyzed them. The one with the sicle went around wide towards my left while the scythe wielder charged forward.

Bringing out my kunai, I blocked the large, curled blade. I held my ground against her, when suddenly the chain wrapped around my torso and yanked, making me drop my kunai.

"Ha!" She slashed the blade downwards. I dug my feet into the ground and caught the blade between by hands.

As I was about to shatter it, the sicle user ran at me and swung. I moved my head slightly to the left, avoiding the sharp blade.

She turned it slightly and changed its course for my head. Releasing the scythe, I ducked under, making them clash blades, and jumped back.

They fight in sync, in perfect harmony. This could be difficult.

Weaving my hands rapidly, I slammed my hand onto the ground. "Shock Wave!" I shouted. The ground sparked with lightning and headed straight for them.

The two jumped, creating as much distance as they could as my lightning created a path of destruction.

The one with the sickle put her weapon on her belt and made some hand signs. "Lightning Style: Black Panther Jutsu!" Black lightning jumped around, creating three panther shaped beasts.

Uh-oh.

The three ran at me, and so did the scythe user. I jumped up to avoid the first panther and whipped out a kunai, blocking the scythe wielder. "Haru! A little help would be appreciated!" I shouted, fighting off her blade whilst avoiding the panthers.

In the distance I heard the sound of steel clashing against steel. "A little busy!" Haru's voice called out. Tch. Troublesome.

I jumped away and a panther lunged. I forced chains from my back and struck right through it.

The lightning wrapped around the chain and moved up, but because these chains are made of chakra it didn't go very far before disappearing.

One down. Whoa!

I cart wheeled away from the scythes blade. This one is strong. And she wields that damn scythe like it's a part of her. This is going to be tricky.

I brought my hand back, wind swirling around before creating the Rasengan.

I ran at her, bringing it back. "I don't think so!" The other one shouted. A black panther jumped between me and the scythe user. I couldn't stop in time, but I need to get rid of it anyway.

I slammed my Rasengan into it. The black lightning danced across my arm and I pulled away, escaping the rest as the panther was destroyed.

My arm stung. Black Lightning isn't like regular lightning. And it isn't as if these are mindless drones. The other one is controlling them.

I grabbed another kunai and blocked the scythe user's blade. "Thanks Hitomi." She said, her eyes holding nothing but victory in them. As if she knows she'll win this battle.

As if. I'm too stubborn to lose. But she's strong. Strong willed, strong minded, and she moves with fluid motions.

She's a ninja, without any doubt. But her movements are different, it reminds me of Haru. She's definitely a warrior since birth. It'd be nice to fight her on different terms.

Looking around, I spotted a katana, abandoned. Pushing the scythe wielder away, I weaved some hand signs before lunging at it.

Grabbing the hilt I readied it. "Die, outsider!" She roared, running at me, her blade held high. I reached into my pouch and threw some special kunai at her. She easily moved to the side and avoided it.

Got you!

Holding the blade at eye level, I moved. It was too quick to process. I was behind her, suddenly, a bit of blood on my blade.

Her run went to a walk before she stopped and dropped behind me. "Flying Thunder God Slash." I murmured to myself, dropping the sword to my side.

"Chiyome-Nee-Sama!" Hitomi shrieked. I glanced back, seeing a thick pool of blood pool around her. I turned my gaze to the girl. Because of her loss of concentration, her panther remained still, still facing me.

Tears pooled in her gray eyes as she looked at her sister in utter horror and despair.

I stared at her intently. I, of all people, have an idea on how she feels. Siblings are very important, but a twin is different. They are your other half. To have your twin taken away from you is like losing a part of you. A cruel and horrible incident.

Her eyes then held pure rage and she turned to me. "You could fight me, or you could try and save her. Depending on your Medical Ninjutsu techniques, you may be able to save her." I spoke.

She shook, her anger seeping through her pores. "Hitomi." A raspy voice spoke. Huh?

I turned back, seeing Chiyome had turned her head, her determined eyes trained on her sister. "You must . . . protect his . . . weapon." She murmured, quickly slipping into unconsciousness. She doesn't have much time.

Hitomi's eyes widened, tears streaming. She let out an ear piercing scream.

She weaved her hands violently, making the wind pick up wildly. "Ninja Art! Black Storm!" She screamed.

Black Lightning rained across the mountain, hitting any and every spot all across the mountain. Lightning hit in front of me. Even if it hadn't hit me, the intensity of the lightning hit me full force, flinging me back and off the mountain.

Before I could regain my balance and find a place to safely landed, Black lightning struck me in the chest. Pain filled me and I let out a shout of pain as I was hurtled downwards.

The pain hurt, but being as accustomed to pain as I am, I managed not to pass out. As I fell, I noticed a small hole, big enough for a person.

I wasn't sure how deep it was but it was worth a shot. I reached into my pouch and pulled out a special kunai and threw it into it, before Flash Stepping away, and away from another strike.

I hit cold rock first. Sitting up, I groaned. "That hurt." I muttered, looking down at the spot where I was hit.

It burnt off part of my clothing, revealing just the top of my chest. Jeez. And I just got this outfit too.

The place shook every now and then. The thunder roared loudly, even from inside this secluded cave. It's best to wait this out in this shelter. It shouldn't last too long.

Where exactly am I? I looked around, but was unable to see much in the darkness. I stood up and walked around, my hand feeling the walls.

Sure enough, I found a torch. After a certain amount of space, I found another.

Okay. Stepping away, I walked to what I assume is the center. "Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!" Five small fire balls shot out, striking five torches. A little math helps out after all.

Before I could dwell more on that my eyes widened slightly. I'm in a small cave, the only entrance in the ceiling, a hole small enough for one person.

Along the enclosed walls is writing, symbols, and drawings. Walking over, I ran my hand along an symbol. It was the same those people branded on their bodies, with the exception of the lightning bolt.

Below the symbol, a name was etched deep into the rock.

Otsutsuki.

A clan? So this is their symbol. But the people out there had a slightly different symbol on them. Which means they're not apart of the clan.

My guess is the added shape is to represent someone from this clan. But I don't recognize this symbol. And I've read all the files in the Hokage office.

I'm not familiar with the Otsutsuki. I wonder who they were.

And who it is in the clan that these people worship so dearly.

Chiyome mentioned something to her sister. 'You must protect his weapon.'. I walked around the walls, reading. Most of it is written in an older language, but what I could read was something like a prayer.

And the name Indra is repeated a lot. I know Indra is a God in some lands, but it appears this one is being referred to as the one from the Otsutsuki Clan.

If only I understood this other language, I could learn more. Some characters are familiar, but they're altered and I can't quite read them that well.

As my eyes drifted around, I spotted a narrow hallway leading further down.

The rumbling died down a bit ago, meaning the storm has passed. I should leave and find Sasuke and Haru to continue our mission. But curiosity got the best of me.

For some reason this man interests me. Going against my better judgment, I grabbed a torch from the wall and walked down the narrow hall. It wasn't a long walk.

It lead me to a smaller space, with a shrine at the back In the shrine, a large, intricate, golden spear hung on the wall.

It's like the weapon itself emitted a strong chakra.

No, this isn't chakra. It's something more powerful.

I couldn't help but walk over to it. Below it, words were carved into the wood of the shrine.

"The Spear of Indra. He who wields the blade shall bring victory to his side. A power so great none can stop. May he who holds the spear have Indra watch over him. For only the truly worthy may wield this power." I read aloud.

Interesting. I'm not really one to glorify weapons, but over time, I've come to appreciate them. Especially spears and glaives.

The inscription is old, so it could be making it more out to be then it is, but there is no doubt that the weapon itself radiates power. This must be what they were protecting.

Ah, the documents.

Could they reveal the revelation of the weapon? Surely it would since it's encased in the shrine on this mountain.

If it does, and Orochimaru reads it . . . will he send us back to get it? Or worse, someone else? If something like this were to fall into his hands, things don't look good for us.

I slipped in fairly easy, all be it, accidental. But easy none the less. I really shouldn't touch it. It's not mine. But . . . I can't risk Orochimaru taking it.

Reaching out, I grasped the handle of it. Lightning immediately danced across my skin and consumed me. I let out a shout of pain, but didn't release it. The lightning danced across my body, but the more it did, the less painful it became.

In fact, it's almost like it's spiking my adrenaline.

Tightening my grip on it, I removed it from the wall. The lightning dancing across me no longer hurt, nor did it burn. No, I felt raw energy. A sense of confidence washed over me. Confidence, and a need for battle.

Reaching into my pouch, I pulled out an empty scroll and unraveled it onto the floor. I crouched down and bit my hand, using the blood to write onto it. After finishing, it glowed a bit.

Standing, I lowered the spear into it. Lightning sparked across the paper, and it illuminated the writing.

After the spear entered it completely, the paper illuminated a blinding golden light, making me wince.

All of a sudden, the writing changed, making my eyes widen. I watched in awe as golden characters wrote over my blood, creating a seal of its own. Then it rolled up on its own, floating up.

Still shocked, I grabbed the scroll and the light and lightning stopped completely, making the scroll seem normal.

I brought it closer to me, staring down at the scroll. Even sealed, I still sense its power. And the confidence and energy it left me didn't fade. It only remained.

Just what the hell is this place hiding? And did I do the right thing, taking such a powerful weapon?

I shook my head, securing it into my pouch. I need to go back. With one last look at the shrine, I Flash Stepped out of there.
