Chapter 8: Sasuke The Nervous Wreck
Hinata's POV
Sakura looked so nervous, sadly. She was literally shaking as Ino was working on her hair. I, on the other hand, was still in a pissy mood no thanks to my father.
I haven't told any of the girls about the phone call with my father and that I have to end all ties with Naruto. It was Tenten who sensed something wrong but of course I only smiled and waved it off.
"Alright, your short pink hair isn't listening to me," Ino sighed, frustrated.
Sakura glanced at her, her eyes panicking, "Well do something! I leave in like half an hour."
"37 minutes to be exact," Temari answered next to me, her eyes never leaving her People magazine.
Sakura rolled her eyes, "Like that makes a difference."
"Just stop panicking, Sakura," Tenten replied from under us. "Ino, just put a headband or some flowers in her hair or something."
"L-look through my d-dresser," I pointed. "My little sister sent me a pretty h-headband, you can borrow it."
Sakura flashed me a grin. If I weren't feeling so miserable, I would've been grinning back. Instead, I nodded, dug my chin into my lavender hug pillow, and glanced out the window at the small flakes of snow that has started falling not so long ago.
"You sure you're alright?" Temari asked, glancing up from her magazine. "You've been...spacy, Hina. Did one of the guys do this to you?"
I shook my head, "I'm j-just hungry."
I leapt off my top bunk with a thud, surprising Tenten, "I - I'm going to get a snack. You girls want anything?"
The question made the girls look at me with worry. When no one answered or replied, I left without another word.
I slowly walked down the hall, hearing voices of students getting ready to leave for the weekend. A few doors were opened, some girls called me out. I waved.
When I finally made it down the stairs, my eyes scanned the area for any of the boys. Luckily, it was only filled with a few girls watching a movie on the TV.
That's good, I need to be alone for some time. I bought a hot chocolate and found an empty table for two hidden underneath the stairs.
I blew on my hot chocolate, hoping it would help lighten up my mood. Too bad I lost a pretty close friend/crush that hot chocolate isn't going to fix it, no matter how good it is.
I felt guilty. At least if I was going to end a friendship harshly, he deserves to know why. Instead, I've just been blowing him off without saying a single word unless I have to.
I leaned back a bit. That's not what's confusing me though. Why did my father want me to stay away from him? Better question: why does he think Naruto was so dangerous, anyway? At first I thought it was just Neji adding a little whenever he tells my father my actions around school but it's making me doubt now. My father never cared when I dated Kiba or hang out with other whack jobs. So what makes Naruto so special?
Is it because he didn't see Naruto grow up with me like he did with the other kids? No, my father can be heartless sometimes but he has common sense.
Did he know something about Naruto that I don't?
"Hinata!" A voice made me jump out of my thoughts. I glanced around and saw Ino's boyfriend heading towards me with a huge smile.
"Sai-kun, what are you doing here? Don't you have practice today? And we still have like twenty minutes," I nodded a greeting. Shoot, I didn't shutter did I?
Naruto emerged from behind Sai. Biting my lip I looked away. I should've known Naruto is not one to give up.
"Just thought I'd be here a little early, getting a head start," Sai answered.
I rolled my eyes, "We're supposed to be stalking them, you know. That means we are not to be seen."
"Right," Sai scratched his head, giving me a shy smile. "Then Naruto and I will go get something to munch on."
Naruto glanced at Sai, "I want to talk to Hinata for a sec. You can go on ahead, Sai."
"No!" I said quickly. "I have to go back to the dorms. I'll see you later."
Before any of them could react, I shot out of my chair, hot chocolate in hand and ran up the stairs. I didn't slow my walk down until I saw Sasuke pacing back in forth, his head down, and mumbling nervously.
"S-Sasuke-kun?" I called.
His head snapped in my direction, a sign of relief flashed upon his handsome features, "Bookworm."
He was wearing a dark blue v-neck with a black leather jacket along with tan jeans and his blue and white Jordans.
"What a - are you doing here?" I asked, glancing at my white watch. "Never m-mind. You're r-right on time."
Worry flooded his face again. Sasuke can be a man when he wants to, and a chicken unintentionally.
So I weaved around him knocking once, before inserting my key into the lock. Before I could turn, the door yanked open, pulling me with it.
I nearly tackled Temari with a bearhug and spilling my hot chocolate in the process.
"Sasuke!" Sakura stood up from her seat at her desk, "How long have you been there?"
Tenten smiled, "I'll bet anything he was pacing!" Then to Ino, "I knew I wasn't crazy! I heard his heavy footsteps!"
Ino rolled her eyes, "You still claimed the dormitories are haunted."
"Hey it was accurate!"
"You two idiots done yet?" Temari asked, twiching with annoyance.
Sakura was already at the door, black purse in hand, "We'll be on our way now."
I waved at her, "Have f-fun!"
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do," Temari winked.
"Remember, protection is sold almost everywhere," Tenten chuckled. The poor couple were blushing like tomatoes at her comment.
"Fighting!" Ino did a little fist pump as a cheering sign.
Temari hissed at her, "No more Korean dramas for you!"
"What?" Ino shrugged. "It's my way of cheering people on."
Not wanting the couple to experience the fight about to break out between the two, I pushed the couple out the door, "Just knock when y-you get back, okay S-Sakura? C-chances are I'll still be awake."
Sasuke and Sakura threw me a final look before walking down the hall, murmuring to each other.
Back inside, Tenten and Temari were getting ready to leave while Ino was getting ready for our little spying mission.
"Tell us everything, Hina," Temari ordered. "If one little detail is left out, I know where you sleep at night."
I nodded slowly, "Y-you got i-it."
When the two left, I started quickly searching for something casual to wear. I settled on a purple, white, and black plaid shirt completed with dark skinny jeans and black Converse. Ino changed into a black t-shirt and white leggings with black high boots.
"Hina, it's time to move," Ino said when she finished spraying on a whiff of her perfume. "Sai just texted, he managed to overhear where they're heading. He's pulling the car around."
I glanced at my reflection in the mirror one last time. When I was satisfied with the smiling girl looking back at me, I replied, "O-okay. Let's g-go."
