Chapter 12: Naruto's Blank Face

"I'm fit, see! Owwww!" Tenten and I exchanged a look and laughed. Of course Naruto would do anything to get put of the hospital so early. Not his fault though, even if his guardian did pay for a luxury room it must be hella boring being perched in it all day.

Five days has passed since Naruto was admitted. Every day, I'd come in after school baring homework for him and dinner. We'd spend hours talking, working, and talk some more until visiting hours are over. Then I'd go home, he'd beg me to stay, but Sasuke or Shikamaru would be waiting outside for me.

It was Friday, Tenten wanted to tag along since there was no cheer practice. Shoot... I have to start returning to all the basketball practices. Guy is probably slowly dying as we speak...

The nurse said, "Idiot. You're not leaving here so soon."

I recognize that voice...

"Yeah yeah, go away so I can heal faster," Naruto sighed.

Isn't it that nurse that tried to hit on him when he was still in the ER?

"But I'm your nurse so I have to make sure you're perfectly fine when you leave."

Creepy...

"Temari warned me about a nurse that might have an eye on your man," Tenten murmured to me.

"D-don't do anything!" I stammered.

Tenten knocked three times with a mischievous smirk, "Too late."

"Yes?" The nurse answered.

"Hi I'm Tenten, a friend of Naruto and I have his girlfriend, Hinata, with me," Tenten made sure she stressed girlfriend. I nearly face palmed at my friend's antic.

The nurse's voice returned, a little disappointed, "Oh really?"

"Come on in, then!" My friend's voice came, a little too excitedly.

Tenten turned the knob and pushed it in, I followed closely behind her; holding the pack of food that would be Naruto's dinner.

The nurse was standing with her arms crossed, "If you need anything, just let me know."

Naruto nodded, "Will do."

The flirty nurse walked out with a look, no, glare at me.

"Thank you so much for saving my ass, guys," Naruto exclaimed as she close the door. "She keeps touching me without saying anything and throwing me these weird eyes and-"

Tenten slapped a hand over his mouth, "Okay, okay we get it. She's terrible and doesn't know when to back off if the guy has a girlfriend."

"You do remember we aren't dating, right?" I rolled my pale eyes.

"Yeah, yeah," she waved it off. "Whatever."

I glanced at Naruto. He kept his beautiful eyes to the floor with a blank expression.

Does the thought of dating me boring or something? Of course it is; I'm a nerd who knows how to set up the best defensive plays on the court and on the field. It's my specialty.

"Alright, now for dinner," My girl-friend clapped her hands together. "On the menu, Hinata's best homemade ramen!"

Life returned to my crush's eyes at the mention of his favorite food, "What's the flavor today?"

"Spicy kimchi, just the way you like it," I forced a smile.

I'm hurt... but I'll get over it. I never pictured a future with Naruto anyway and I don't think he will ever look at me that way. In fact, I know he will never look at me that way. To me, he will always be the best friend who can be the godfather for my kids. If I ever marry that is.

I worked on opening the containers when I realized something, "Oui Tenten, I forgot some chopsticks. You think you could grab some from the cafeteria?"

The brunette nodded her head, "I will be right back."

I returned to setting up the bowls on the table hovering above his lap. It took me awhile, but I could feel his eyes on me as I worked.

"You have no idea how grateful I am that you and Tenten came in when you guys did," Naruto admitted. "It was getting a little... uncomfortable with her around..."

"Well, you're welcome," I didn't look at him. "Here."

As he took the plastic bowl, as cheesy as it is, our hands brushed the other. I was the one who took my hand back. Then quickly turning around, not wanting him to see how affected I am by such a simple and stupid gesture.

"You okay, Hinata?" Naruto asked.

"W-what? Yeah, I am."

"Wait, you just shuttered! You never shutter around me! What's wrong? Is it Sasuke? Did that guy do anything to you?"

"What? No, of course not," I said. "I'm fine. I might just be nervous about some stupid test coming up."

Naruto blinked once, "Did I do anything?"

I shook my head frantically, "You did absolutely nothing! Believe me, I'm fine!"

Unconvinced, Naruto nodded once. His blue eyes drifted to his window. His blank expression stayed, though, and I almost felt guilty. Naruto's face can never be blank! It's just not in his nature.

I was about to say something when his door swung open and Tenten came in, panting as if she ran about a mile. Her cheerleading coach isn't going to be happy if she ever found out about this.

We waited for the poor girl to catch her breath before asking, "Why did you run up here?"

Tenten raised an eyebrow before walking over to us, "You guys can read each other's mind now?"

"No, of course not," I glanced at Naruto as he glanced at me. Maybe we do have some telekinesis powers...

"Okay stop that!" she snapped, annoyed.

"Sorry."

She glared at the both of us before continuing, "Well, there's someone looking for you in the cafeteria, Hina."

"Who?" I blinked. "And how did the person know I was here?"

Tenten shrugged, "He didn't look familiar in my part. I was more distracted by his hot face and he looked like he owned like three mansions... in Jamaica."

"But I don't know any hot guys," I pondered.

"Uh, hello, Hinata! I'm right here!" Naruto said.

"Yeah, whatever," I turned my attention back to Tenten. "Did he say his name?"

Tenten shook her head, "Nope. Just asked to meet Hinata Hyuga."

"And you didn't think for a second that it might be some crazy stalker of a pervert asking for her just so he could kidnap her?" Naruto ranted.

"Calm down, Naruto-kun," I slapped a hand over his mouth. "I'll be fine. I'll come right back up, promise."

He slowly nodded but his ocean blue eyes never wanted to let me go for some reason. And I wished I had listened to them.

Leaving Naruto to Tenten, I made my way to the cafeteria in search of this guy who was looking for me. If he was some rapist, I can knock the hell out of him. Not to mention, we're in the middle of a hospital; filled with security guards and new fathers. Trust me, very aggressive species right there.

The elevator dinged, signalling the arrival at the second floor. Following the nice big signs to the lunchroom, I came upon a quiet sight.

Not as crowded as I thought...

I turned to leave but some stupid door stopped me.

"Stupid door," I murmured.

"I'm offended... I'm a breathing, live human being," it spoke!

I quickly bowed my head, "I-I'm sorry."

"It's fine Hina, life your head," he said.

But how did he....?

I looked up and my heart sank... w-w-why?

"Itachi-kun..."

He gave me a smirk, "So you still remember me, good."
