Chapter 9: Hinata Might Like Van
I scanned myself in the mirror. Not bad, not bad at all. The dress was a one-strap light purple and hugged my body in the right places plus: my boobs aren't so... poppy.
"How does it look, Puppy?!" Van groaned. I nearly smirked. His fault for wanting to go shopping.
In general, shopping is my demise but if it's for dresses for a special occasion, why not actually take hours on end?
Especially if some hottie agrees to go with you.
I clamped my hand over my lip. Did I just think that? No, no, no Van is good looking! Naruto is hot.
No, that's not right. Ignore me right now, please!!!
"Honey, would you like us to introduce you to some of our newest items in men's while you wait for her?" As the shop lady who helped me picked things out. Before you starting thinking they're flirting, she is 75 years old and looks like your grandmother, short and sweet.
"It's fine ma'am," my companion sighed.
"Well let me know if you and your wife need anything," the lady continued.
See what I mean?! I'm not married to him, PEOPLE! Get with the program.
I could hear her heels click as she walked away. Glancing at myself one more time in the mirror, I smiled at the dress. Should I get it? It does cost about... wow, cheap. $57, not too bad.
I slid out of the dress and pulled my shorts on then my t-shirt.
The problem about the whole thing isn't about the dress; it's the fact that I'm going to a party thrown by Naruto where everybody is in masks. It's my first day, 1. 2, I only know Van along with Skylar otherwise, I think I already made an arch enemy out of Dr. Kabuto, Sakura hates my guts, and I threatened to move Liam and Fletcher to the birth department.
"If you're wondering whether or not you should go," his voice sounded outside. "My answer is: I know where you live and will carry you like the way I did in the hospital if you don't go."
I sighed.
"You should really go!" Van groaned. "I need a quote un-quote 'date' so please?!!!"
At least I'm making someone happy.
I swung the door open, dress in hand. Van was sprawled out on the little leather couch and looked at me.
"I'll go."
"Huh?"
"I'll go," I drew a breath. "For you, idiot."

Here's a POV that y'all been waiting for!
Sasuke's POV
Yo!
Party tonight, my mansion. The one by Huntington Beach. You better get your lazy ass out of that chair and attend! Your bro and his family can come too. Sakura's already an employee so don't worry about her
Naruto
I chuckled at the letter. That idiot, has no idea how to write a formal letter. He better count himself lucky that I had nothing to do tonight so I'll bring my lazy ass to his party.
Tucking away the invitation, I continued glancing outside at my brother playing with my nephew. Cute and loud little Daisuke, sort of named after me in a sense.
Okay, okay let me explain.
Itachi got married five years. Her name is Kiriko; smart, nice, funny, best older sister I could ever ask for. She's like my new Hinata except she talks more, nagging, and teasing...
Itachi met her when he was in Japan for six months. She wasn't the daughter of some other CEO or anything, unlike how all his blind dates were. Instead, she was working in a cafe when he walked in and well, fell in love I guess. The media went crazy when he announced the engagement about a year later; storming her house and everything. No one thought she was his perfect match since she was still in school, still paying for school, and still has a giant future ahead of her. She wasn't in the same, say, 'category' as Itachi or the world of rich ass CEOs so there was no way she can know how to help run a business. Besides, she was in culinary school, too. The media did the whole thing of manipulating her image to make her seem like she was some kind of woman using her charms to get some money and stuff like that.
I didn't officially meet her until I was back in Japan myself about three months before the proposal. I approved of her right away considering she wasn't some b*tch in disguise and let me tell you, I can smell a b*tch miles away. And if she was really after the money, well, she has me fooled, too.
Daisuke was born about a year ago, healthy and would not let go of my hair! Itachi spent that whole week being the most annoying person on Earth. I don't know why he thinks I'd know what to do with a pregnant wife considering I'm only like twenty-four, still trying to figure out how to propose, oh and have never had any experience with a pregnant woman before. If anything, he should be the one skilled in that category considering he was around when our mother was pregnant with me.
"Oui Sasuke," I turned to the door to see my sister-in-law poking her head in. "Lunch is ready. Take a break."
I shook my head, "It's fine."
Her brown eyes left mines to the little card in my hand, "Is that from Naruto?"
I nodded, "Yeah to some kind of party he's throwing tonight."
"Really?" Her eyes lit up. "What's the theme?"
"Some kind of masquerade ball," I sighed. "You're invited too by the way."
If she didn't look happy before, she was definitely happy now, "Then what are we waiting for, Sasuke?! Let's go find you a tuxedo!"
I blinked at Itachi's wife, "No way. I'm already stuck wearing stupid suits for the rest of my life! We're not moving on to tuxedos!"
"Aw, come on," Kiriko smiled. "If not for you, than for Sakura-chan, hm?"
I narrowed my eyes at her. Oh yeah, she's manipulative...
"You suck," I gave in.
"But you love me anyway," she laughed. "I'll have Itachi find a tuxedo for you. For now, go downstairs and eat the sandwiches I made!"
"Why should I? You just literally used my weakness against me!"
She giggled, "Because I'll tell Sakura-chan that you're bullying your sister again."
"That's blackmail and isn't true!"
"You know she loves me more than you," Kiriko continued.
"No she doesn't!"
"She told me," she stopped laughing but the mischievous smile never left her face. "Seriously though, Itachi will eat it all before you do."
I crossed my arms and sat back in my chair, pouting, "What flavor is it?"
"Pepporoni and cheese, the way you like it. And Itachi, might I add."
I sighed, "Fiiiiiine!!!"
"Then it will be waiting for you downstairs," she closed the door after that.
I couldn't help but smile to myself. Kiriko is amazing and harmless. I love her and well... she's been able to keep my mind off Hinata for a while now. It's good for me I supposed to have a new best girl-friend in my life that I can't be romantically involved with.
Not that I want to with Kiriko, she's deep in love with Itachi for one, two: she's my sister-in-law so my sister.
I shivered. I've been hanging out around Naruto too much...
My phone beeped in my pocket. Taking it out, I found Sakura's contact idea on my screen.
My smiling deepened as I slid the answer button, "Hey Sexy, how was your first day?"
"Ugh! Don't get me started! I got scolded for not being loud enough by that new ER chief from the Hyugas," she snapped at herself.
I gripped the phone between my ear and my shoulder, "That's hard to believe. You're usually so loud in a certain location that should be kept away from the ear of children that I find you being scolded for not being loud enough a lie."
"S-shut up, Sasuke!" I roared with laughter. Oh man, she's too much for me right now.
"But Sasuke, I'm trying to be serious here," her voice suddenly dropped to seriousness.
All the previous humor disappeared from me as well, "What's wrong?"
"Ummm..."
"Hey, is it that new ER chief? What he do to you?!"
"Not he but more specifically a... she..." She said slowly.
I raised my eyebrow, "Well, she should know that your boyfriend has very strong connections with the FBI."
"Not the point, Sasuke," my girlfriend continued. "It's someone we know. Or used to know because she's so different now I don't know if we do know her or not."
"Okay I'm very confused."
"A certain doctor that's been known as a legend lately..."
I blinked.
"She's got long black hair, pale eyes, and a nasty killer attitude that can actually kill someone who just gives her a nasty glare."
I let out a breath, "That was close. If you had said anymore, I would've said it was Bookworm you're talking about."
"Sasuke," she said firmly, making my blood freeze completely over. "Hinata's here. She's different, she's no longer quiet, she's loud, and she might actually have a thing for someone..."
I covered my eyes, "Naruto?"
"No," Sakura continued. "It's Van. I think she actually really likes Van."
I nearly punched my desk in but seriously, it's not going to help anybody so instead I growled into the phone, "How could you be so sure that Hinata likes Van? Or better yet, how can you be so sure the ER chief is Hinata at all! You've describe someone who we never knew."
"You'd be surprise how much eight years can change somebody, Sakura said, sadly. "Especially if that person received a promise from someone they love and was never kept. My theory is that Hinata is just hurt and Van just so happens to be there with her in times of need where as Naruto had never called her at all within the gap period. Hinata might think Van is the right person for her, but I'd say it's a irrational decision on her part."
