Chapter 22: Please Let It Be The Truth

Sasuke's POV

Naruto slammed his head down on the table, surprising all the old men in the room as he boomed, "Dr. Lee is getting a raise! It's not what I want but the public demands this happen!"

One of the old man, Dr. Hudson or whatever who worked with Hinata quickly agreed, "Please, everybody. She deserves it."

"I don't agree!" the head of billing department, an old man in his late sixties with no hair at all, snapped. "What would the public say, President? The news about you two sleeping together has yet to die down and now this?!"

"I'm giving a reward for an employee who deserves it," my friend said as calmly as he could.

Why was I here? Well, Naruto and I were going to see an LA Dodgers game but this meeting demanded by that old bastard with no hair delayed us a bit so here I was, just spinning around in Naruto's very comfortable computer chair as he yells at his employees.

Naruto drew the deepest breath ever, "I apperciate you watching the image of me and the hospital but my decision is final! Dr. Lee will get a raise on her next month's paycheck that will roll over to the original chief when she returns from her leave. End of meeting."

The CEO closed his folder and stood up, a clear sign that no more negotiation welcomed from that point on.

The head billing department left the room in utter frustration while everybody else left with a small farewell to their president. When the final doctor left, Naruto groaned loudly and flopped down in his little leather sofa set.

"That was interesting," I commented.

"Shut it, pretty boy," he sighed. "I've had enough without your sarcasm and sass."

I laughed, "Yeah, yeah whatever. Now, when are you going to clear up that little scandal with Bookworm anyway? The press's practically dying and you two haven't made a public appearance. Well, except for the fact that she was able to save about two dozen more lives within the last few weeks."

And imagine everybody's shock when they find out she's not only dating our little president but actually pregnant with his son, too.

I remember when Bookworm first told everybody she was carrying. I remember that day all too clearly...

Flashback in Sasuke's POV

When Hinata called everybody over to lunch at her house one day, I thought something was wrong. That, or she just wanted to apologize to each and everyone of us for abandoning us when we clearly said everything was alright as long as it doesn't happen again.

Anyway, here we were, in the middle of her apartment as Kiba and Shikamaru arrived with bags and bags of McDonald's since all the girls were too lazy to cook something. There were a lot of fries and random chicken nuggets that I never figured out how all the leftovers disappeared when I visited the next day to grab some.

Then again, there were a whole bunch of girls in their twenties sleeping over in one place, go figure.

But one thing was off, Naruto wasn't present.

Sakura was the first one to start, "So why so sudden, Hinata? And where's Naruto?"

That stopped everybody's conversations. Our friends started looking around for the said blonde but he was nowhere in sight. It wasn't long before their eyes found mines in confusion.

"Hey don't look at me," I raised my arms in defense. "I'm not his keeper."

"Actually, I didn't invite him because he was hurt and it was on purpose," Hinata sighed. She was sitting in her most favorite spot, on her coffee table.

Kiba, who had been arguing and bickering with one of the SMOS girls, crossed his arms, "Well, this just got interesting."

I watched my childhood friend as she started hyperventilating a bit. This only perked everybody else's curiosity by a lot more. I could see Temari wanting to beat it out of Hinata if she had to. My own girlfriend was not far behind. The only one that was actually calm, much to everybody's surprise, was Hyo; the supposed crazy one of SMOS. She sat down beside Hinata and patted her shoulder.

"Whenever you're ready, Hina," she said, soothingly. "We'll help no matter the situation."

Hinata looked at all of us in turn, "I know you all would and I still feel so guilty for what I did to all of you."

"Hey we let that go a long time ago," I said. "Now it's your turn. So just tell us what's going on."

Her pale eyes shined with gratitude at my words. Shikamaru huffed a small laughter signalling he knows what's up already. Geez, that guy is too smart for his own damn good.

Hinata finally drew one last breath before saying, "I'm pregnant and it's Naruto's."

The room dropped in several degrees and the silence was almost so... I don't know how to word it. I just remember that my shock and confusion made me turn into a five year old who just figured out how to work a light switch.

"Pregnant? A-as in there's a living human being in your stomach?" I uttered pointing at her stomach.

She subconsciously looked down and looked at me with annoyance, "It's still only a fetus right now but yes in time there will be a human being in my stomach."

Sakura smiled next to me but didn't say anything. Something tells me she knew before all of us.

"How do you know you're pregnant?" Ino asked.

"I've been feeling a little weird for a few days and got a little suspicious so I asked Sakura to do an ultrasound on me two days ago," Bookworm replied.

It wasn't long before the whole room exploded in applause and wild wolf whispers of excitement. This is best news in such a long time especially for Hinata.

"But can y'all keep it away from Naruto," she said sadly. "I don't want to spring this on him. Especially since he just found out Magnolia really isn't his daughter. I want that to pass before I tell him."

All our friends exchanged looks before nodding.

I, on the other hand, was still comprehending the fact that that Hinata, the shy and never yelling Hinata, is actually going to become a mother...

End of Flashback

"Yo, pretty boy did you just die on me or something?" fingers snapping in front of my face brought me back to the present.

Naruto's whiskered face appeared in front of mines, confusion written all over his features.

"Hey are we going to the game or not?" he blinked once.

No, no this is wrong. Naruto's a father and he doesn't even know. I don't give a crap that Bookworm doesn't want him to know yet and I'm sorry I can't respect her decision right now. Naruto's been hurt beyond any pain for being lied to about having his own daughter and now, he deserves to know.

I have no idea how he's going to take it but I do know that he needs to know. Call it morality or shit but he needs to know.

"Hey Naruto," I started. "What if you were to find out Hinata was..."

His blue eyes lit up at the mention of her name, "That Hinata was what?"

I said it as slowly as I could, "That Hinata was pregnant with your kid? How'd you react?"

As the words reached my friend's face, I saw them dull over a bit as he thought the words through. I gave him all the time in world for him to come up with the words needed to describe his feelings.

But his face alone told me enough.

He didn't look sad, only a little shock and angry.

"How long did you know?" he asked.

"A few weeks."

"How come nobody told me?"

"Hinata did want you to suffer more than you already have."

"What? I'm not -"

"Don't you lie to yourself!" I snapped. "No matter what happened, you love Magnolia like she was your own. Figuring out the truth like that, yeah, everybody knows you're lying."

Naruto was having an internal fight with himself, I could tell. Either it was to admit or to come up with a smartass retort but either way, he knows I win this argument.

"Now," I leaned back in his chair, resting me legs on his desk. "How would you feel if you found out Hinata was pregnant?"

He answered almost immediately, "Then I'd say please let it be the truth..."

I gestured towards the door, "Why don't you go find out for yourself?"

He didn't wait to be told twice.
