A surprising find

Once Kolivan figured out how he was going to give (Y/n) a first courtship gift he decided to get a necklace for her at the space mall; he knew of a very nice jewelry store and he knew that he'd find the perfect gift for her there. Not only was each gift during their courtship meant to be meaningful but he also wanted it to be special and always remind her of him. Kolivan got as much love advice as he could from Krolia who had a human mate waiting for her on Earth; back when he found out she mated with a human man he silently judged her for it, although now that he was about to court a human woman he no longer secretly held it against her. Honestly, just the aspect of getting into a romantic relationship with someone was nerve-wracking for Kolivan and thinking about it actually made him feel anxious. He knew (Y/n) most likely felt the same way because he could smell her pheromones every time they were in the same room together, so it wasn't like he was risking getting rejected by her.

A few hours later he found himself at the space mall, walking in the direction of the jewelry store he occasionally passed in the past. Kolivan decided to wear casual clothes that day so he wouldn't stand out and call attention to himself like if wore his Blade uniform; after all, he didn't want to cause any trouble if anyone recognized him had he been wearing his uniform. His heart was racing in his chest as he took a few turns and rode the escalator up to the highest level of stores, stepping off as soon as he arrived at his desired level. Once Kolivan made it to the jewelry store he took a deep breath before entering, looking in each display case to see if he could find the perfect first courtship gift for (Y/n). While he was busy looking at everything the necrofriggian cashier came out from the back room and saw him, walking towards the galran man to see if he needed any assistance.

"Welcome to Am'ah's, do you need any assistance?" Ivvids, the cashier, asked Kolivan with curiosity.

"I'm looking for a gift for someone special." Kolivan answered when he turned to face the cashier; he wasn't expecting them to want to assist him but he didn't show that he'd been low-key startled by their sudden presence.

"Ah, I see. This display case might have the perfect thing." Ivvids responded with a friendly tone before walking over to a specific display case and gesturing to it.

Kolivan followed Ivvids over to the glass case, looking in and seeing several beautiful necklaces; there were so many to choose from and it was a hard decision, but when his eyes landed on a periwinkle flower necklace he knew it was the one. Ivvids unlocked the case and carefully picked up the necklace Kolivan chose, promptly walking behind the counter so they could place it in a necklace box and put the box in a bag. Kolivan imagined how beautiful (Y/n) would look while wearing the necklace when the next day came; he was going to sneak it into her bedroom after she went to bed that night so she could find it on her nightstand when she woke up the next morning. He still could hardly believe it though, he was buying a gift for (Y/n) that would officially begin their courtship when she accepted it. Kolivan was pulled out of his thoughts when he paid for the necklace, giving the cashier the right amount of gac.

"Thank you for shopping at Am'ah's. I hope your special someone enjoys the necklace." Ivvids thanked Kolivan after handing him the bag and putting the gac in the cash register, wishing the galran male luck.

Kolivan nodded his head slightly in thanks before promptly turning around and leaving the store, bidding the kind cashier a brief farewell. On the way back to the escalator he couldn't stop thinking about what he was about to do later that night; self doubt started raising its ugly head and he wondered if he was doing the right thing by asking (Y/n) if he could court her because once he did there was no going back. Then Kolivan remembered what Antok told him and he pushed his doubts back down, not wanting to miss out on having (Y/n) as his significant other. The trip back to the Blades' main headquarters felt as though it took an eternity, especially since Kolivan would be putting his little plan into action within the next several hours. Once he returned to the base Kolivan rushed to his habsuite and put the bag with the necklace box on his coffee for later, taking a deep breath when he sat down, took it out of the bag and opened it; the necklace would look good on (Y/n), it was just a matter of time before he gave it to her.

__________

(Y/n) turned her alarm off when it woke her up, groaning in displeasure because of how groggy she felt after getting the right amount of sleep. She took a deep breath and yawned for a second time before finally opening her eyes and turning her bedroom lights on, not yet seeing the black box sitting on her nightstand. The young woman stretched her legs out a little and moved a few strands of her hair away from her face, sitting up in bed and enjoying the silence for a few moments. (Y/n) thought back to the previous day and remembered how strange Kolivan had been acting; he seemed to be a little jumpy after he returned from what she thought was a mission, little did she know was that he hadn't actually gone on a mission. Right as she was getting out of bed (Y/n) noticed the black box on her nightstand and picked it up, wondering who left it there since she knew for a fact that she didn't put it there; she quietly gasped when she opened the box and saw the necklace, thinking it was beautiful.

"How did this get here?" (Y/n) asked while she examined the beautiful periwinkle flower on the silver colored chain, noticing how good quality it was.

Necklaces didn't just come out of nowhere which meant someone put it on her nightstand, meaning someone had snuck into her room after she fell asleep the previous night. (Y/n) was completely clueless as to who put the necklace on her nightstand; it could have been anyone in the base, but hopefully she could figure out who gave it to her seeing as she was completely clueless during that particular moment. She carefully took the necklace out of its box and undid the clasp, thankful it was easy to open and close since it made it easier for her to put the beautiful piece of jewelry around her neck. (Y/n) smiled as she looked down at the necklace before she promptly began her usual morning routine, choosing something to wear prior to heading to the bathroom to do her thing. On the way to the cafeteria for breakfast she didn't see Kolivan anywhere and wondered where he was, especially when she didn't see him sitting at any of the tables.

"Hey, Antok, where's Kolivan?" (Y/n) asked Antok when she went to go stand in line, thankful he was right in front of her.

"Greetings, (Y/n); Kolivan was called away to one of our other bases, he'll hopefully return later." Antok replied after he greeted the young woman, giving her the news about Kolivan who he knew she missed.

"He was? I hope he comes back soon because I wanted to ask him if he saw anything strange last night. I found this necklace on my nightstand this morning and I want to know who left it there." (Y/n) responded with confusion, showing her new necklace to Antok; Kolivan completely forgot to leave a note with his gift which meant she didn't know he was the one who gave it to her.

"That's very interesting, I'm sure he'll have the answer you're looking for." Antok said with a casual tone, already knowing it was Kolivan who left the necklace on her nightstand.

(Y/n) beamed up at him and hoped Kolivan would return sooner rather than later, desperately wanting to know who left the flower necklace on her nightstand. She decided to sit with Antok, Thace and Ulaz during breakfast since she felt kind of alone with Kolivan gone; that, and she wanted to know if any of them had seen anything suspicious the previous night. Ulaz recognized the gems that the flower was made of but he unfortunately had no idea who gave it to her. Meanwhile, Kolivan was having breakfast in the Marmoran outpost he was at along with the operatives who lived there; he wished that he could have been with (Y/n) but he had to do his duties as a leader. He would end up being there for a few extra days to help out with a few maintenance issues, although as soon as he returned to the main headquarters he would hopefully have the chance to ask (Y/n) if he could court her.
