"Hiya!" a child voice called out as he hold a small spear with dull stone on the end, going to stances and stabbing the air.

His brother watch in slight confusion as he stared at him up and down.

"what are you doing?" the child asked making the other to stop and look at him.

"well I'm practicing of course!" he replied as the second child raise a brow.

"practicing? For what?" he asked as the first child have pride as he put his hand on his chest.

"papa is ganna train me on using a spear!" he said with a smile as the second child blink.

"Pa is ganna what? That's so unfair!" the second child exclaimed.

"maybe I'm Papa's favorite child after all!" he taunted the other as the second child rolled his eyes.

"no you aren't, I am!" he said back to him.

"no I'm his favorite!"

"no you are not!"

"yes I am"

"no your not"

"yes I am!"

"no your no-"

"boys what's going on here?" both children stop once they heard their Father's voice, they look over and sees him holding a spear and a bow with his eye brow raised in confusion. It looks like he just finished his patrol.

"Pa! ---- said his your favorite! I am your favorite right?" the second child asked as he run towards his father.

"hey! I am Papa's favorite right Pa?" the first child said going after his brother.

Both twins look at their Father as the older echidna sweatdropped, starring at his children, he take a deep sigh as he kneel down putting the spear and bow on the grassy ground and look at his children's eyes.

"my children...I don't have a favorite.." he said making the two young echidnas have their eyes widen as they felt hurt by what their Father have said.

"...because I love you both equally, you two are my favorite echidnas in my entire life" he said with a smile as the two young echidnas blink in suprised, the older male smiled gently as he spread open his arms.

The two children look at eachother before they smiled and immediately hug their Father as the older male tight his hug on them but gently as a fatherly smile came to his muzzle.

"you two are my miracles..." he said to them as both being children they didn't know what that means and just glad their Father love them as much as they love him...

Knuckles is sitting under the tree, he have his legs close to his chest with his arms on top of his knees and his head laying on his arms.

His been like this for who knows how long, he just doesn't know what to do anymore.

It was his chance, his chance to learn the truth about his past, finally finding out what actually happen to his family, his species and yet it all suddenly vanished in a instant.

He slightly lift his head where his purple eyes is seen, everything is silent.

He doesn't mind it, silence is always been there in Knuckle's life, having to be alone in the Island and guarding the Master Emerald requires silence and loneliness, he isn't bothered by it but right now...he wants someone to be here with him.

He let out a sigh as he leaned his head against the tree starring up.

His purple eyes starring at the sky with few leaves blocking the view because of the tree his leaning on.

He slowly closed his eyes, doesn't even know what to do anymore.

"chao?"

He open his eyes again hearing a small voice, he look infront of him and sees a blue and yellow small flying creature looking at him with curiosity.

".......a Chao..?" he asked in slight confusion wondering why there's a Chao here.

"what are you doing here?" he asked he knew a Chao wouldn't get lost in the forest, despite their cuteness and innocence, their intelligent creatures and knows basics and common sense unlike the Mobini that relies on their instincts they don't act in instinct and have understanding on their surroundings.

The Chao just stared at him and blink, it look towards the half ripped map and flew towards it.

Knuckles watch the Chao and wonder what it's doing, he sees the Chao hold the half of the map and unfold it and look at it closey.

The Chao continue to look at it as it blink and look at Knuckles, Knuckles stared back at the Chao then suddenly the Chao went to Knuckles and grab his gloved hand with both of it's small hands and tried to pull it.

"hm?" he questioned as the Chao continue trying to pull his glove like the Chao is trying to lead him somewhere.

Knuckles stands up as he let the Chao lead the way, the Chao lead Knuckles by dragging him or more accurately Knuckles just followed where the Chao wants him to go.

Shadow slowly wake up and slightly groan he sit up, he have a hand on his forehead he felt like something crashed on him.

"your awake!" Shadow got startled by a cheerful voice beside him, he look and sees a familiar bee mobian with amber eyes and have a wide smile.

"your awake! your awake! Finally!" said Charmy making Shadow groan in annoyance, out of places why here?

"Charmy, I'll handle this go to Vector" Shadow heard a calm voice, he look over and sees a purple chameleon with golden eyes.

"okie dokie!" Charmy said as he flew out of the room, Espio closed the door and look at the black hedgehog.

"..." both of them stared at eachother, none speaking and both have a starring contest.

"...how are you?" Espio breaks the silence as Shadow just crosses his arms and slightly looked away.

"I'm fine.." he answered then silence came again, both of them never really interact with eachother so it became slightly akward.

Shadow's eyes widen a bit and quickly put his hand inside of his quills trying to grab something, Espio look at him wondering what his doing.

Shadow's eyes widen more when he felt nothing inside of his quills, he let out a growl and pulling his hand out.

"Son of a b***!" he suddenly cursed out of nowhere making Espio raise a brow wondering what made him mad.

"what's wrong?" Espio asked as Shadow just gritten his teeth.

"he stole my emerald" he said which caught Espio's attention.

"who?" he asked as Shadow just look at him.

"don't know...but it's someone...that can match me other than Sonic" he said as his glare harden, Espio is silent hearing that.

"..is that the reason I found you unconscious on the forest?" Espio asked as Shadow let out a sigh and nod.

"yes...I hate to admit it but...he did" he said as Espio made a "hm" noise putting a hand under his chin, thinking.

"who did it?" he asked as Shadow shrugs.

"don't know...someone I don't even know...but Knuckles might know" he said which cause Espio to look at him confused.

"Knuckles? What does he got to do with this?" He asked confused as Shadow look at him with a serious look.

"the one who defeated me...is a echidna"

Sonic still trying to find the other half, but when he did it was all wet and the drawings are now blur.

Sonic sigh in defeat while Tails put a hand on his back.

"it's my fault Tails...I..I should've have stop myself" Sonic said as Tails just sigh.

"ugh...now I feel stupid thinking about it" he said sliding his hands through his face while Tails just let out a sigh.

"it's alright Sonic...I'm sure Knuckles can understand, his just trying to calm down and sooner or later he'll come back and I want both of you to apologize when he did" Tails said earning a nod from Sonic.

They heard some footsteps as they look over, Sonic and Tails brighten up seeing the familiar red echidna walking towards them.

"Knuckles!" Sonic said as both of them quickly went over to him which made Knuckles look at them, he was about to speak but Sonic cutted him off.

"I'm sorry, I just thought it's funny and I know it's unforgivable because this is important to you, I tried to find it but it's ruined now, thinking about it made me look like a jerk than a friend, I'm so sorry Knux" Sonic apologized making Knuckles blinked, he then let out a sigh as he pat Sonic's shoulder.

"it's fine, I'm sorry too when I suddenly...well shout at you and...cursed..... But I want to show you guys something " he said with a smile causing both of them to look at him confused.

"what is it?" Sonic asked as Knuckles just smiled in respond.

"just follow me, c'mon" he said as he start to run off, both of them look at eachother before running off and followed him.

"Knuckles where are we even going?" Tails asked as they walked pass the tall grass that is blocking their way, tall trees with thick and long vines around.

"you'll find out soon" Knuckles respond as they keep going.

After couple of hours Tails bump into Knuckles as Sonic stops as his eyes widen, Tails take a peek since Knuckles is infront of him as his eyes also widen.

"Knuckles, you found it!" Sonic said as Knuckles shakes his head.

"I didn't found it, the Chao lead me to it" He corrected him, he mentioned them to follow him as Tails and Sonic look at eachother before following him.

They are careful not to fall as they managed to reach behind the waterfall.

Sonic and Tails watch Knuckles approuched, he then put his hands on the stone wall that seems to be blocking something.

"g-grr...grah!" Knuckles grunted as he use his strength to push the stone wall that seems to be a boulder out of the way as it revealed to be a entrance the boulder is blocking.

Knuckles stops as him and the other two take a look inside as their eyes widen slightly.

"...we found it"

A F/C echidna is silent starring at the ceiling of his room, silince filled the atmosphere.

"my miracles..."

The echidna's eyes widen as he look around to find where he heard the voice, he scan the room around him but found no one, but he knew he heard something, someone that sounds familiar yet he doesn't know who it is.

It made him feel...anxious...

He quickly shakes his head and focus on the situation, he needs to rest for whatever Eggman's next mission is, and he won't let anyone get on his way on accomplishing it.
