Pen Name: Allie Salone
Username: AllieSalone
Is your pen name your legal name? If no, then how did you make up one?
Yes and no. Allie is my nickname. Salone is my real middle name. I was named after my great-grandmother. From what I hear, she was a great storyteller so I thought it would be fitting for a pen name. My mom's favorite story of hers was Hansel and Gretel.
How many books have you published till date?
I have six currently published on Wattpad though some of those aren't complete.
What are your future projects?
I have a couple of works in progress that are high on my "to do" list. With the first I'm taking a break from the fantasy genre and delving into horror. It's a sort of lovecraftian take on the Cupid and Psyche myth. The second project is a brand new idea I got recently about a girl who joins an order of half-fae knights who are immune to magic. This one might turn into another series. I am a glutton for punishment.
What is writing to you?
Writing for me is a creative outlet, but it's also how I relax. My favorite thing in the world is to work on a project while sipping a cup of tea and hanging out with my cats.
Is being an author, your long time dream or a hidden passion you found out later?
I've always wanted to write a book since I was a kid, but I didn't really start writing until high school when I found the wonderful world of fanfiction.
What genre books you like to work on?
I've only ever written fantasy, however with my next project, I'm hoping to get out of my comfort zone. All of my stories have at least a little bit of horror in them, but it'll be my first full-blown attempt at the horror genre.
If we challenge you to write a book of another genre we suggest, then would you take it up?
I am always up for a challenge! I don't know if I'd get to it right away, but I'd get to it eventually.
Then we would love to read a cheesy Mafia Romance book from you soon.
Writing is a reality that paints a beautiful fantasy. What do you think are the charms of writing fiction/non fictional books?
My absolute favorite thing about writing fantasy is the world building. You can make a world however you like. There is a wonderful amount of freedom in that.
Who are your favorite authors in and out of wattpad?
Robin McKinley, Clare B. Dunkle, Sarah J. Maas, Holly Black, and much more I can't currently think of. I really need to read more on Wattpad, but I think my current fav writer here is, RosesnWater.
Name few of your close wattpad friends.
RosesnWater, thisrosewillneverdie, xSallyx, catthehat, GraceNdivine, sarahbobara1234, Lizardhero123
What is your favorite series you have recently watched or read?
I'm currently hooked on the Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas and the Scythe Trilogy by Neal Shusterman. I just recently got a signed copy of the third book even though I haven't finished the second one yet! I've been binging The Madelorian and The Witcher with my brother recently and am impatiently waiting for the second season of "Promised Neverland."
Who is your favorite actor/actress?
I don't really have one.
Who is your favorite Villain you couldn't help but love?
Gaston! Also, Solas from Dragon Age Inquisition. I just love what they did with that character. It's so painful and *chef's kiss*
What are your hobbies other than writing and reading?
Playing Video games, mostly rpgs, and drawing
What are your hidden talents?
I sing, though I haven't done it in public in years.
Who is your first celebrity crush?
Gerard Butler during his Phantom of the Opera days. I wonder if this ages me at all...
What is the most embarrassing situation that you have ever been through?
My parents once found a notebook where I'd written a chapter from one of my stories which featured some "romance" scenes. They didn't even know I wrote at that point because back then it was something I did secretly. I wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
One craziest thing you have ever done?
Nothing really comes to mind. I live a very safe non-crazy life sadly.
There are many authors who just started their journey and many readers who want to write but has no courage to do so. Please give them a tip and a word of encouragement.
The biggest tip I can give you is just to write. It doesn't matter if it's fanfiction, a poem, or two sentences of random thoughts, all of it is practice. Do it for you, for your enjoyment, if nothing else. It's so rewarding and fulfilling to see the images in your mind come to life on paper.
Last but not the least, have you ever dreamt of writing your own comic?
I actually studied Sequential Art in college. I wanted to do storyboards for animation and I made my own comics in high school. Through college, I realized that I was drawn more to the writing side of comics than doing the actual art. So, yes, I would love to write a comic at some point.
