Pen Name: Asfar Noor

Username: AsfarNoor

Is your pen name your legal name? If no, then how did you make up one?

Pretty Much. I do have a middle name though.

I just went with my original name. I don't know, I thought hard on creating a pen name for days straight, even asked my family and friends for suggestions but in the end, I don't know but Asfar Noor just clicked for me.

How many books have you published till date?

Well, seven books so far. I have completed four of them Alhamdulilah. Originally, there were eight books but I had to unpublish one which I am planning to bring back once I complete my current books InshaAllah.

What are your future projects?

Well, there is 'His Possession' which will be the third book of the Obsession series focusing on Damien's life. Also, there are chances I might republish a book I started some time ago called Frail and Fierce but for now, I am just focusing on completing the three current projects that I have. And I have some other surprises planned as well.

What is writing to you?

It is a lot of things for me. Escape comes on the top of the list. We all have problems in our life, writing was my way to escape those and distract myself. I originally wrote for myself but then people started to like what I write so now writing is like my way of connecting with people all over the world. It is a beautiful feeling really.

Is being an author, your long time dream or a hidden passion you found out later?

Honestly? It is something in between. I have always loved writing. I used to love creative and abstract writing from a very young age and then there were times when I would watch or read something and if I didn't like the ending or any part of the story, I would think of how I would have preferred to write it instead. Oh, plus I have this wild imagination that I love bringing to reality by penning it down so there is that. So, if I had to answer this question, I would say a little bit of both. I have loved writing but becoming a proper author is a passion I discovered recently once people started to love my works and tell me how much they enjoy it.

What genre books you like to work on?

Romantic Comedies.

If we challenge you to write a book of another genre we suggest, then would you take it up?

Definitely. I would love a challenge but I absolutely despise tragedy and horror so anything apart from that, I would love to try.

Then we would like to read a Fantasy Romedy genre book from you soon.

Writing is a reality that paints a beautiful fantasy. What do you think are the charms of writing fiction/non fictional books?

I believe everyone has a story to tell. Everyone has a story they connect with. There are memories attached to it along with feelings of that particular time and experience. Books have the power to make you feel emotions you didn't even know you had. It can make you feel alive or anything that it wants and I think that is an amazing thing. It can bring your wildest dreams and hopes to life. Things you can't possibly imagine doing in real life can be made possible with writing. Moreover, I love to write books that make the readers feel what I feel and unite under that feeling.

Who are your favorite authors in and out of wattpad?

Well my absolute favorites on Wattpad are Sir Robert Thier(RobThier), Katarina E Tonks(katrocks247) and Neilani Alejandrino (sweetdreamer33). I am also very fond of (AlexiaPraks)Alexia Praks' 'In the Arms of an Earl' and (isabelleronin)Isabelle Ronin's 'Chasing Red'. I haven't really had the time to discover other books or authors but I love the books by these authors. Also, I haven't read a lot of authors outside of Wattpad either but I really like Judith McNaught, Khalid Hosseini and Rupi Kaur.

Name few of your close wattpad friends.

Right so, for this, I would rather say that there are actually some readers that I have, who I absolutely adore for their constant support and love. I mean they are readers who have been with me for years and I can see their supportive comments on my old and new books so they mean a lot to me. There is actually a lot of them and I don't want to take the risk of naming a few and missing out on the others so I will just leave this as it is. I just want them to know that their love and support never goes unnoticed even if by any chance, I forget to reply to their comments or inboxes. You guys know who you are, thank you. God bless you all.

What is your favorite series you have recently watched or read?

Okay so this is a very, very tough one. I actually watch pretty much everything but I love love love Anime, K dramas and T.V. series so I will name a few of my top favs. For anime, I love Naruto, it has a special place in my heart along with Bleach, Fairy Tail, Kaichou wa Maid Sama, Food Wars and MANY MANY MORE that I can't seem to remember right now but I actually have a long list of favorite anime, atleast like a top 100 or something. For K. Dramas, I LOVE BOYS OVER FLOWERS, DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN, PERSONAL PREFERENCE, STRONG WOMAN DO BONG SOON, LIE TO ME and MANY MANY MORE (again). Coming to like T.V. shows in general, I am a fan of Game of Thrones, Prison Break, Fargo and How to get away with Murder. There are others but these are the ones I love the most. So, I just read the question again properly and realized that the stuff I mentioned above was pretty irrelevant but eh, it's okay. A recent series I have started and loved is Friends and Gintama.

Who is your favorite actor/actress?

I am not a big fan of any actor or actress in particular to be honest but I loved Johnny Depp's role in Pirates of Caribbean so there is him. I like Naimal Khawar too, she is a graceful one as well. Other than that, no one is coming to mind right now.

Who is your favorite Villain you couldn't help but love?

Definitely Loki. I just love his mood.

What are your hobbies other than writing and reading?

Well, I like to cook. I love experimenting and creating new recipes. I also love to try different kind of foods from everywhere. And I like taking photographs.

What are your hidden talents?

Reading faces. I can predict what the other person is like after observing them for a short while. I only recently discovered this lol.

Who is your first celebrity crush?

It was actually an animated character called Howl from Howl's Moving Castle.

What is the most embarrassing situation that you have ever been through?

There is actually a ton I can think of. I don't know which one is more embarrassing so I will just narrate a couple. One was me trying to check out this cute guy and smashing my head in a metal pole that I did not see coming at all. Another was me getting called out in this seminar (OUT OF NOWHERE) to do a performance which was written on an anonymous sheet of paper. I don't even know how or what even made that one happen. And ofcourse, I once casually walked into a boy's washroom humming some tune while completely oblivious to the men around me until I saw a guy come out a cabin while zipping up his pants. P.s I saw nothing horrific.

One craziest thing you have ever done?

Well, again I can think of a few things lol. I live with the 'no regrets' moto so yeah. When I was little, I don't know why I thought I could jump from a tree that was like two stories tall and land unscathed. I did jump though and landed in a hospital the next hour. Also, I don't know if this is supposed to be crazy but I had to pretend to be my best friend's boyfriend (me being a girl by the way) on social media to get rid of some guy who was after her. It was hilarious and mortifying when he found out that I was a girl though. Also, for my student council election speech back in high school, I decided to do a rap feat mini hype concert type thing in front of my entire school including my head mistress and all teachers to convince them to vote for me lol.

There are many authors who just started their journey and many readers who want to write but have no courage to do so. Please give them a tip and a word of encouragement.

Right so, I used to think my first book was a disaster, it had no story line, no proper character development and I just wrote it out of the blue because I felt like it but you know what? People liked it despite everything. That told me that there will be people who will accept you for who you are and what you create and people who will not. You can't live for the ones who are trying to bring you down. If you have something you want to show to the world I tell you to definitely do it whether it be writing or any form of talent or skill. Life is too short to worry about what others have to think and live a life of regret. Go for it. If you want to write, write and then don't feel insecure. Be confident of your masterpiece but don't be ignorant to any constructive criticism that you get either. It will help you and your creation grow. The first step is the most difficult one and it is a slow process but I can guarantee you, in the end, it is totally worth it. Good Luck!

Last but not the least, have you ever dreamt of writing your own comic?

Yes a lot of times but I am not really an amazing artist so I never got around to doing it.

What do you feel about this interview?

I love it to be very honest. It feels like an honor and blessing that someone wants to interview me. I love this feeling. It's really refreshing and satisfying. Thank you for doing this.
