Epilogue
two years later
third person pov
taehyung walks into the park, fidgeting with his fingers. why did he agree to this in the first place?
he needed that closure. that's why he was here. to close things off.
it wasn't as if he hadn't moved on. he already had. he did. a while ago.
not with some guy he met or something.
he had a new job, he was happy. it was like his life was in order. he moved on.
but that closure was necessary. all those questions he never got to ask. all the explanations he needed. maybe today was the day he was going to get it.
jungkook had gotten out of jail two weeks ago (not that he was counting) and called him a week ago, scheduling this meeting with taehyung.
with taehyung convincing himself, he finally agreed to meet jungkook in a public place.
hence the park meetup.
and there he was, sitting in a bench, a bouquet of chrysanthemums beside him.
his dark hair had been tousled by the wind and his eyes were closed so taehyung wasn't able to see them.
his heart thumps wildly in his chest at the sight of the man.
dressed in a casual, great polo, black slacks and black shoes, jungkook looked just like taehyung remembered.
maybe a little less muscular than when he was last seen due to improper diets in jail but he looked wonderful either way.
taehyung couldn't figure out if the hard beating if his heart was because he was nervous, angry, upset or...
was it love?
it could never be. taehyung loved him. that was correct. he wasn't in love with jungkook.
jungkook looks down at the watch wrapped around his wrist and looks up. his eyes finally meeting taehyung's.
a small cautious smile graces his lips and taehyung takes it as his cue ti move forward.
"hi." he says, waving lightly.
"hi." jungkook says, staring. he gulps, reaching for the flowers and handing them to taehyung, "these are for you." he says.
taehyung mumbles a small 'thank you' and accepts the bouquet.
"sit. please." jungkook says.
taehyung nods, sitting on the bench.
jungkook clears his throat and taehyung looks up at him.
"h-how have you been?" jungkook stutters.
"good."
he nods, "i... taehyung, I'm sorry." jungkook says, running his fingers through his hair.
taehyung's eyes water. the flood gates had finally been opened.
"i know my apology means absolutely nothing to you right now but please, just listen. you can hit me if you want to, curse at me even kill me and i wouldn't even blame you for it."
"that wouldn't make us so different now would it?" taehyung says, chuckling bitterly.
jungkook nods slowly, wiping his hands on his slacks.
"why jungkook?" taehyung asks, taking a handkerchief out of his pocket and dabbing his eyes with it.
"i..." jungkook trails, swallowing the saliva that had piled in his mouth.
"why'd you hurt me so much? what did i ever do to you? why? wasn't i enough? i-"
"cut!" a voice yells out.
taehyung flinches and jungkook sits on the park bench, sighing.
"taehyung! I'm gonna need to see more emotions than that! this past week, working with you has been such a hassle!" the angry voice of the director booms in the studio.
"sorry sir. I'm just-"
"i don't care about your excuses taehyung! you don't want to work in my set anymore, you let me know! everyone! take twenty!" the director says, walking out angrily.
taehyung sighs and takes off his microphone.
"tae!" jimin calls out, running towards the said male. he sits beside him on the bench.
"hey." taehyung mutters dryly.
"what's up?" jimin asks.
"where's jungkook?" taehyung asks.
"he was here just now. i don't know." jimin responds.
taehyung sighs.
"look, tae. you need to have a bit more faith in him."
"I'm trying min. i really am. he's always sneaking off and it has me worried that -"
"has the movie you are acting not taught you anything?" jimin asks, shaking his head.
"it has. I'm not saying he's cheating. he just looks uninterested in me these days. like he's found something else to keep busy with. it does not have to be a person. it still makes me feel insecure." taehyung says, sighing and rising from the bench.
"we should find something to take your mind off these thoughts. how does a milkshake sound?"
"delicious."
-
taehyung bites his fingers nervously. his mind was all over the place. what was going on? why'd jungkook ask to meet him here?
at... where was he anyway?
he was only told to get into the car.
what if he was being kidnapped?
he gasps, eyes wide. he should have thought about this before. why would he just get into the car?
right. it was jungkook's driver.
he takes a deep breath and shakes his head. he needed to stop over thinking everything.
his real personality wasn't so different from the taehyung in the movie. it was probably based off of him.
so... right now... he was at a... hotel?
it was definitely a hotel.
"we're here mr kim." the driver says, stepping out of the car and opening the door for taehyung, "or shall I say..." he chuckles.
"what?" taehyung queries.
"nothing. mr jeon is waiting for you. congratulations."
"thank you." taehyung says smiling.
he had heard that a lot in the last week. they had finally finished shooting the sequel of time will tell: knives.
since then, he's heard congratulations everyday.
he arrives at the hotel lobby and walks to the reception desk.
"hi, how may I help you?" the lady asks, a friendly smile on her lips.
"hi. good evening. I'm here under a reservation for jeon? jeon jungkook?"
"oh! you're mr kim taehyung. our staff will be here shortly to escort you. please wait for a few minutes while i ring them up." she says, hand already reaching for the telephone.
taehyung nods and sits on a couch in the corner.
"mr kim?" a voice calls out.
"yes. that's me." he responds, standing.
"this way please." the male says, walking towards the elevator.
-
the sound of the elevator door is loud but not louder than taehyung's heart.
something was up. he couldn't place his finger on it yet.
they arrive at the penthouse suite and the man tells taehyung to head inside.
what was happening? where was jungkook? did something happen to him and he didn't want taehyung to know?
someone opens the door from the inside and closes it as soon as taehyung enters the room. she soon leaves soon after.
he's left in pitch black darkness and he swore he was about to pass out.
the air conditioner was probably turned on. it was pretty chilly in the room.
someone strikes a match in the corner and puts it on a candle.
"hello? jungkook?" taehyung calls out.
the room lights up immediately after, candles and led lights decorating the room.
"hey, tae." jungkook says, walking towards taehyung with the candle he lit up.
taehyung squints at the brightness of the room, shielding his eyes from the light.
"I'm sorry. is it too bright?" jungkook asks worriedly, putting down the candle in a corner of a table.
"it's okay. it was just a hit too dark in here."
"I'm sorry. we're you scared?" jungkook asks, picking up the candle again and walking towards taehyung.
"it's okay."
jungkook nods, fidgety, "you know, tae, you're like my light. without you, I'm like that pitch black room. the only color you could see would he black. nothing. I've known you for a while, we've been together for a while too. i... i love you taehyung. I'm not good at making speeches. you're always the one who's guided me through them and I'm grateful. I'm grateful that I've had you beside me all this time but this relationship as boyfriends isn't working out anymore."
taehyung gasps.
"w-what?" he stutters, squeezing his hands on his sides.
"yeah. i don't think we should be boyfriends anymore." jungkook says, dipping his hand into his pocket and pulling out a ring, he does down on one knee and looks up at taehyung.
"the amount of happiness I've felt in my whole life was nothing compared to what i felt when you came into my life. i was like a new book. fresh. unused and just accumulating dust until you came and picked me from the cupboard, cleaned me up and used me. now, here i am. please, make me the happiest person on this planet forever and marry me. will you marry me taehyung?" jungkook asks, hoe and nervousness filling his eyes.
taehyung goes silent, gaping at jungkook and the ring.
"i... will! i will jungkook!" he answers, cheering, "I'd even be happier than you if we got married."
"no way." jungkook says, taking the ring out of the box and sliding it onto taehyung's finger.
"yes way. i am."
"no way."
"are we having our first argument as fiances?"
"yeah. we are." jungkook says, leaning down and kissing taehyung on his lips.
a content sigh slips from taehyung's mouth as he wraps his arms around jungkook's neck.
"is this why your driver told me congratulations?" taehyung asks, staring at the new diamond ring on his finger.
"yeah."
"how come everyone knew except me?" he asks, pouting.
"it wouldn't have been a surprise now would it?" jungkook asks, wrapping his arms around taehyung's waist again and pulling close till both their chests were touching.
"i love you jungkook."
"i love you too."
