Open Flares Shawl

Dimensions:

 - 25 1/2 in by 48 in

Materials

 - about 420 yds yellow worsted weight yarn (I used Impeccable Butterscotch)

 - about 140 yds white worsted weight yarn (I used Impeccable White)

 - Size US 8 needles (or size needed to obtain gauge) 

 - Size US 10 needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)

Gauge:

 - 9 st and 11 rows to 2 in in seed stitch w/smaller needles

 - 7 1/2 st and 10 rows to 2 in in stock. stitch w/ larger needles

Pattern:

With smaller needs and white yarn: 

Cast on 98 st

 - Row 1: (K1, P1) across

Repeat Row 1 for 4 in

Switch to larger needles and yellow yarn

 - Row 1: K1, P1, K1, P1, [P2, K2tog, (yo, K1) 5 times, yo, ssk] repeat to last 6 st, P2, K1, P1, K1, P1

 - Row 2: K1, P1, K1, P1, K2, purl to last 6 st, K3, P1, K1, P1

 - Row 3: K1, P1, K1, P1, (P2, K2tog, P9, ssk) repeat to last 6 st, P2, K1, P1, K1, P1

 - Row 4: As Row 2

 - Row 5: K1, P1, K1, P1, (p2, K2tog, K7, ssk) repeat to last 6 st, P2, K1, P1, K1, P1

 - Row 6: as Row 2

Repeat Rows 1-6 until work in yellow measures 40 in

Switch to smaller needles and white yarn

 - Row 1: (K1, P1) across

Repeat Row 1 for 4 in

Cast off in pattern


I'm not exactly sure how much yarn making this shawl took me, but I think it was about a skein and a half of yellow yarn and half a skein of white yarn, so keep that in mind as you work.
