Knight
(Y/N) POV
As I walked back to the mansion, all that went through my mind was the King. I have no problem with women being kings, however, I do have a problem with it being kept a secret.
I help the two ladies go inside the mansion as I see carnage as we enter, looks like quite a showdown happened
"Oh dear, what happened?" Irisviel says looking around
"we were attack by more than just Caster, " Kiritsugu says coming into view, Lisa follows not far behind.
"Lancer's master came in to kill me," Kiritsugu says as Saber appears, he gives a glare
"yes, we were attacked by Kotomine too, " Maiya says
"and Caster escaped," Saber says. I can't help but think about the King's gender as he speaks. Is what Irisviel says true?
"I wish to go after Caster," Saber pleas
"You will not," Kiritsugu says without a second thought. Saber looks down defeated
"My Kin--" I began but I'm instantly shut up by Lisa
"You will not speak," She says coldly
"But My---" I began to say again
"Your King has no control over you in this world, you listen to me, not King Arthur," She says laying out rules straight forward. I clench my teeth
"Yes my master," I say defeated
"We have plans we must discuss, stand watch," She orders
"Yes," I say kneeling
"I shall join you," Saber says
"This is no job for a King," I protest
"As Lisa said, I'm no King right now, I'm a heroic Spirit," He says
"Indeed," I mutter
We stand guard until my curiosity gets the better of me
"Irisviel told me something," I say talking to Saber
"What might that be?" He asks
"She says you are not a man, but rather a Woman," I say looking at Saber. They think for a bit
"What she says is true, I am no man," She says.
"Understood," I say turning my direction to the forest that surrounds us
"I understand you see why I could not tell anyone," She asks
"Yes, I may have no problem with a Queen being a Knight, but others certainly would," I mutter
"I see, thank you for understanding," Saber says relieved
"However, I do have a problem with it being a secret from me....I thought we were brothers to the end, and that we would tell each other everything," I say with no emotion
"I understand your anger," Saber says as she walks away
I stood for who knows how long. I watch as Kiritsugu and Lisa leave the mansion to follow the man who wrecked the place. I tried to convince them to let me follow, but they settled on going alone
I stood for a while longer until I heard something and saw flashes of Lightning. It must be Rider.
I sneak around the forest to investigate and they blow right past me hustling toward the mansion in a chariot. I rush back to see they crashed through the front door. I quietly sneak around and ready my blade.
Rider hadn't noticed my masked presence, but Saber currently did
Her eyes tell me to stand-by and get into a better position
I sneak around not paying attention to what they are speaking about
"My Knight, no need to hide," Saber calls out. I emerge from the shadows catching a boy in the chariot off guard
"You have very good communication," Rider says
"Me and my Knight appreciate the praise," Saber says
"Now, shall we go to that Garden I speak of," He asks as Saber leads us all to a pretty garden gleaming in the moonlight
We all sit around the centre of the place. Rider breaks into a barrel and the smell of alcohol feels my nose
He takes a sip and so does Saber. He turns to me with the ladle they have been sipping on
"I'm sorry, but I must refuse," I say
"Come on boy," He says
"I'm afraid I'm not worthy to drink with Kings such as you two, but I must say I'm flattered," I say
"Come on take a sip," He says again chuckling
"As I said before, I must refuse," I tell the giant of the man. I'm finally able to settle down and get a good look at the two kings before me. Rider has dark red hair and was wearing a T-shirt and pants....that looked quite small for his size...and much less like from where he would come from
As for Saber. She still wore the armour she died in, her blonde hair flows over her green eyes as it turns to a bun at the back of her head. And boy do I ever wish I could see the golden glaze of Excalibur.
"So, you two must have known each other in the past?" Rider asks
"Yes, Saber was my King," I answer quickly
"Ah, so your her servant," He says laughing
"No, I'm a Knight," I say looking at him in the eyes
"Ahahahahahah, you have the eyes of a snake who's about to kill, no need to be so uptight," He jokes around
"Only Kings shall look upon me," I hear someone say behind me. I get startled and leap forward drawing my blade. I look at Archer, in his golden armour and hair, piercing my soul with his red eyes
"Put down your sword!" Saber says before Archer cuts her off
"You dare to draw a blade on me when I come in peace!" He yells as I see another blade get launched toward my direction. It moves at lightning-fast speed, and I barely muscled my sword up to deflect it. The force sent me barrelling to the outside wall of the garden
"Stand down everyone! We are not here to fight," Rider says as I struggle to get up
"No mongrel draws a sword to me and gets away with it," Archer says
"You startled the poor kid," Rider says defending me
"I agree, you should make your presence known before your right behind someone," Saber says
"I suppose I'll let him off this time," He says giving me a hard stare
"However, he is not a King so he is not invited to be within 5 meters of me," Archer demands
"He shall listen," Saber says giving me a hard stare as I struggle to rise. I wasn't expecting to be flung like that. If I had some warning, I would have been able to get up right away.
They converse, as I muster up my breath to stand again. They speak of kingship. And later on, insult Saber about her time as King
It took all my strength to stay put...or perhaps it was fear that disabled me from striking them. Archers ability...is deadly, had I been less than a second slower, I'd be impaled by a blade right now.
As they speak more and more about Sabers wrongs as a king, I'm distracted by a presence
No...not just one, many. I ready my blade and leap toward the closest one, they can't be seen, but I sense them. The three kings in the middle notice me mid-leap and are confused.... At least confused until I hit my target. Instead of swinging at air. My blade slashing a dark figure in half as it disappears into nothingness.
After, my senses of the intruders are helped with the fact we can see them now.
"Is this your doing?" Rider asks Archer
"I'm afraid it's my masters doing," He responds
"I see," Rider says as he offers a peace offering to the many dark figures surrounding us. They end up with them laughing at him and some liquor gets spill on his shoulder
He begins talking but I'm too busy counting the number of enemies to listen. Then suddenly, Rider starts overflowing with what can only be magic power, so much it moves the wind like a hurricane...or so I've been told. Then a white light
When it fades, we all are in a desert, with sand under our feet
"A reality marble," I overhear Irisviel as my attention is drawn to a massive army that stands a few feet away from us. They greatly outnumber the dark figures that I assume must be assassin.
Rider begins to make a speech and then when he is done, he calls for a horse and leads the army in charge against the Assassins
We all are left in the dust as the massive army engulfs the pitty numbers of assassin.
Then, as soon as we appeared in the desert, we were back in the garden.
"I shall take my leave, this was a meeting for Kings, but Saber, I no longer see you as one," Rider says as he summons his chariot and flies away....a flying chariot...no questions
Soon after Archer also left, citing he likes to watch her suffer a burden she can't handle
Saber is left standing, looking almost defeated
"I remember, there once was a knight who left because he felt the King didn't understand how others felt...I wonder if the other Knights of the round table felt the same," Saber asks
"Well, surely not, can't we just ask (Y/N)?" Irisviel asks
"I'm afraid not, I was not part of the round table...I was merely a Knight who worked from behind the scenes. I rarely saw the King outside of war," I admit as Irisviel looks surprised
"I am no true knight," I say as I walk out. The many talks of the three kings made me relive some of my life. I've done many things, and as I recall them. None of them mark the makings of a Knight.
Perhaps the King is emotionless. But I could never dream of doing the things he...or she did in the past. I don't believe I could shelter the weight of the kingdom on my shoulders...much less fight with it
Before I was out hearing range, I hear Saber say, "you were the finest Knight of them all." I wish I would believe this, but I don't believe killing men in their sleep is what a fine Knight would do
Flashback
"These are your orders, do them quick," The King asks
"If it must be done, I'll do it," I say looking at the kill list.
I leave the castle and sneak into enemy lines unseen, it's dark so it's not that hard. My job is to kill officers of importance, and then after they are killed, take the lives of as many sleeping soldiers as I could.
I've gotten skilled at moving in the shadows. I figure my kill count is around 599 soldiers by sneaking into their base and killing those who sleep
I kill the targets on my list first, then move to ones sleeping. Someone must have seen me as suddenly I was surrounded by enemy Knights
"Coward, killing us in our sleep!" They all say. Yes, I'm a coward...but it's for the kingdom. It must be done, so why not by me
I count 8 Knights around me, I figure I could take them...but they appear to be more skilled then you normal joe
One of them charges me, to which I respond with decapitating his head with one powerful slash. The blood goes everywhere as it spatters. The Knights are surprised by the gruesome sight. They stay in stock until I claim the arms of another Knight. He falls down in pain as his blood flies everywhere
Thank god for my helmet, I'd surely be blind with the blood raining down as I claim the lives of the other 6. They managed to get in 4 blows, two to my torso, one to the leg, and the last was across my shoulder.
The fight brought a lot of attention, and I narrowly escaped without being caught.
I slowly limped back to camp, by the time I returned it was sunrise. Citizens watch in horror as I limp back.
"Not a fitting return for a Knight," I mutter
I approach the King's chamber and as I do the servants gasp as they see me.
I look in the mirror and sure enough, I'm covered head to toe in scarlet blood
A fitting return for a Knight....I'm not knight...I just think I am
