A- allow? What , what if something bad happens and you can't do anything about it?

S- I'll try to stop it from happening.

A- if you can't do that, then what?

S- I'll keep trying.

A- you don't understand, if you can never

He answered before she could complete.

S- I really don't know , die trying I guess.

R- senior ! Is ...is he ... We should've never agreed with him .

Rudra cried shaking his head in regret , Om kept staring at the still shivay whom Vrushali was trying to revive .

Sh- the ambulance is here .

Sharon shouted to alarm everyone when the van came in , at once Om and Rudra carried shivaay inside . Vrushali tore opened his shirt and carried out the defibrillation procedure .

L - please please please

R - senior .

Rudra cried leaning on Om's shoulder , Sharon who was equally terrified held her cross dollar and sent silent prayers continuously.

V- come on shivaay !

She pressed the device on his chest again and checked the monitor , no . Om felt his body freeze in shock , he watched Annika who was being checked by the doctor on one side and again at shivaay who struggled here .

L- please shivaay .

Vrushali didn't pause , she continued and did the same .

All their prayers were answered that very instant . He opened his eyes , taking in as much air as he could through his mouth . Shivaay exhaled big and fast to support his respiratory system which was suffering at the moment . He slowly got up and sat , looking around .

Everyone's reaction changed into happy tears immediately, they rushed to hug him .

R- I really love you senior , please don't do this to us ever !

L- thank God !

Shivaay held them all close and consoled them , assuring each one he was fine . His sight fell on Om who still stood outside the vehicle , rooted to his place . He seemed very very disturbed . Shivaay noticed this .

S - Om .

All he could do was that whisper , Om didn't bother . He immediately turned and walked towards Annika .

Om - how's she doctor ?

Dr.S - stable , we have administered some medicines . She'll come around sometime soon .

Om - let's take her to the hospital then .

He quickly picked her in his arms and neared the car when shivaay followed and stood in front of them .

S - O I know you're angry , listen...I  Om , Om

Without paying attention to him  Om left that place with Annika leaving back a worried shivaay .

V- your left shoulder bone must have been dislocated while you ... yeah that's why the pain . Splinting is done for support but , please take care .

Shivaay muttered a thanks after when she gave him a pain killer shot , she noticed his vision still stuck on Om who was waiting outside Annika's ward . He was distracted only when Vrushali spoke up .

V- you can't blame him you know , it's very tough to hold on to all this .  You make decisions , you do what you do but it's not always the same for others. The impact is painful.

Shivaay pressed his lips together and gave a weak smile .

S- I , I would have died wasting my life long back if not for him. Times when I had lost interest in everything, he brought me back and made the man who I am today . He might not have my blood , but I see him as my brother , I understand his state of mind . I would react the same if I were in his shoes .

Vrushali kept watching Om while shivaay spoke all this , indeed , a bond like theirs , is very rare and very special .

Shivaay stood up and walked up to him , Om watched the rigid cast on his left arm once and slowly turned the other side , not wanting to see him.

S - Om , I'm sorry ...Om .

Om - I get her now . Why she left you. Whatever she did was right , you ... she did right by leaving you .

He spoke clearly , slow and steady registering each and every word with clarity . Shivaay couldn't take it , all these words especially from his best friend who has been with him throughout all difficulties in life . Who has seen his pain and sufferings. These words from him hurt shivaay very much , he watched him in shock .

S - Om , what are you ...

He reached out to touch his arm but Om shook and jolted back .

Om - I know , you'd do anything for her but what you did today ... that's not right , that was  evil ! Shivaay you don't care about other people's feelings , you just wanna do what you think is right . Annika knew you'd give up on everything if she opens up about her condition, that you would sacrifice anything to take care of her . That's why she hid it from you , giving side is the side of decisions shivaay , but you know what it's like to be on the receiving side ?  On her side ?

S- Om , please try to un

An immediate slap landed on his face before he could even complete , Om was very much enraged  and so gave him another sharp slap before he could come out of the first one . All were shocked witnessing Om's anger , even shivaay .

Om- don't you dare defend your act shivaay ! I was a fool , I ...I shouldn't have !!! You can be a smart man , smart cop , whatever but this time you were wrong ! Do you even know what it was like to see you ...

He grabbed his collars and screamed at his face while shivaay didn't have the courage to look up and face him because he knew Om was right .

Shivaay is not a perfect man , all he does cannot be right every time , he knows himself .

' Sir , the patient is awake .'

The nurse informed them and left , Om glared at shivaay once before going in .

Annika sat up and looked around in confusion , she held her head and blinked several times trying to remember the last thing she could. She felt some relief on seeing Om who came in just then .

A - Om , where am I ? I don't really remember anything . Last thing I know is , I was with someone ...some girl named Mamta , she , she took me to her place , I don't even know her and then ...some people , some people kidnapped me . Om what happened to me !

She held his shoulders and shook him , her mind was completely blank , some pages filled , some left blank which drove her insane . Om on the other side , felt happy , really happy , cause he knew what this meant . She frowned when he smiled with tears .

Leena noticed shivaay shaking his legs anxiously, he held the corridor railing tight to control the shivers he was feeling right now .
She went to stand  beside him .

L - you should go inside .

He gave a quick nod and stood there still , she read his expressions.

L - you're scared she might not

She stopped when he suddenly turned at her.

S - if this was a failure , I will adapt and live as a third person in her life. And help her in every possible way . I just want her to be fine .  She might be two in her mind , but for me , she's just my Annika .

Leena was out of words , she watched him in wonder while he took a deep breath before taking slow steps towards the ward .

A- Om , I'm asking you something. How did I end up here and

The creaking sound from the door distracted her , she looked by that side . Om left her hands and  moved back when shivaay came in slowly .

What he felt inside was only known to him , he was scared , restless , guilty , his mind and heart dumped him with these emotions all at once when he met her eyes . Annika's sight didn't move from him once , not even did she blink in those few seconds , he came and knelt down before her. 

The others stood by the door waiting for nothing but good to happen .

Shivaay's fear was reaching up and above the threshold  through every passing second of her silence . Before he knew tears started rolling down his eyes and that's when she blinked , realising this is real . Her eyes went moist in no time and she reached out to touch his face . Shivaay closed his eyes on feeling her cold palm meeting his fresh and warm tears , her reactions changed when she was able to feel him . She immediately spread both her hands to touch all of him , hair , face , shoulders , arms , she pressed her palms on his body to make sure he was real . While all the time he stared at her with tears .

And soon a mild slow and shivering whisper escaped her lips .

A - sh ... shi...Shivaay

S - Annika

His eyes widened with extreme joy , he leapt to take her in a bone crushing hug . She felt surreal in that moment still not able to believe what was happening , she just held onto him so tight and secure just to feel and keep feeling him . Shivaay pulled back to plant numerous kisses on her face , before leaning forward once again . Both cried holding onto each other .

His shirt became completely wet near the shoulder region , she pulled back and checked once again , by touching his face . She then looked at Om who was watching these two with happy tears and so was everyone .

A - I , I thought , you

S - I know , I'm sorry so sorry , sorry I couldn't come sooner . Sorry you had to go through all that .

His tears remained unstoppable , she shook her head watching them and pulled him close taking her turn to show what she had been through . Cupping his face within her small palms , she started kissing his forehead , eyes and cheeks . He collected and pushed her hair back which fell on her face disturbing his view .

The pain was terrible which they both had felt believing the other was dead at some point of time. After all they had seen and been through ,the joy this moment provided them was something which couldn't be comprehended within words . She went sick in mind believing he is no more , and he faced death up and very close  several times but kept coming back , just for her .

The four letter word love seemed very small to describe what they were to each other .

Both smiled between their tears and wiped each other's face , he winced a little in pain and she didn't move for a moment.

A- sorry , you're ok right ?

Her voice shook watching his wounded arm and once again her eyes revolved around him from top to bottom for the nth time now .  Shivaay pulled her into his arms for she buried her face in his crook this time ,  a place she'd happily spend all her life  .

S - now  I am .
