Day 5 - Movie Marathon
"Food's here!" Pidge called upon entering the dark room, holding a massive bowl of popcorn and other assorted snacks that she and Hunk had made.
"I'm interested in this 'popcorn', Pidge, is it an Earth food?" Allura asked, hugging her knees to her chest. Her hair was down and, since she hadn't straightened it in a while, it poofed around her head in frizzy (yet pretty) ringlets.
Pidge nodded, setting down the food on the huge nest of blankets that the rest of the Paladins sat on, Hunk sitting down beside it. "It's delicious- here," she handed the bowl to the princess, who took a handful of the popcorn.
"What are we watching?" Hunk asked, grabbing some ice cream from Pidge's stash. The Paladins were all seated in the lounge area in the castle where they'd fashioned a movie-night set-up to watch Christmas classics. The scene was completed with piles of blankets, pillows, soft chairs, and plenty of food, as well as all of the animals on board (Kaltenecker lay peacefully on the side of the room, enjoying a bed of fresh hay).
As the space mice ran across the blankets, hiding here and there and squeaking softly to each other, Shiro and Pidge fidgeted with a homemade projector that had a dozen wires poking out of it, along with a few antennae.
Shiro turned to look at Hunk over his shoulder. "'Christmas Vacation'? That's what Pidge and I were thinking.
Hunk's eyes went wide. "Don't you think that'll give Christmas a bad impression on Allura and Coran?"
Shiro tilted his head to the side, thinking, while Pidge groaned, trying to rearrange the wiring of the device. "How about 'Elf' then? That's pretty family friendly."
Hunk's smile spread. "Yeah, definitely."
Lance suddenly entered the room, wearing a robe, his Blue Lion slippers, and a face mask, his hair up in a towel turban. He had a tired, yet content look on his face and as he sat down between Allura and Keith, the smell of rose and jasmine bubble-bath floated around him.
Keith actually liked the scent, which surprised him, considering it was Lance's signature bubble-bath, and he found himself inching closer to Lance so that he could smell it more.
With a flash of light, the projector burst to life, displaying the image of the opening credits of 'Elf'. The Paladins cheered and Pidge and Shiro settled back, happy with their accomplishment. The seven tenants of the Castle of Lions (and several animals) were able to enjoy the movie together, relaxing and eating junk food and laughing together- something that was a rare occurrence when you're fighting for the freedom of the galaxy.
About half and hour into the movie, Lance felt himself begin to drift off and he let his eyes close, head falling to the side. After a few moments, he felt someone shift beside him, and then his head being slightly lifted to lay on something sturdy and warm. "You'll hurt your neck like that, dumbass," Lance heard Keith grumble, and realized that he was now leaning on Keith's shoulder.
All he could do was pray that he wouldn't drool.
With Lance's had resting comfortably on his shoulder, Keith found it hard to pay attention to the movie. With every inhale, Lance's head shifted just enough for his hair to tickle Keith's neck, which was actually very distracting.
When the movie was finally over and the only one who seemed even remotely conscious was Keith, he stretched, turned off the projector, and settled down on the blankets and pillows further away from the group. He felt too tired to walk across the castle to his room, so the thick quilts and puffy blankets were a good enough substitute for him.
It was only when Lance rolled over in his sleep, cuddling up next to Keith and snoring softly, did Keith wonder if it really was a good idea.
