Day 14 - Cuddles
"Seriously?" Keith asked, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Sorry, Keith, but Coran's coming as fast as he can with the new supplies. He says there are more blankets in the storage room if you need them and that he should be back by morning."
Keith sighed. "Alright. Thank you." He hung up the little receiver on his wall that the Paladins used to call each other in the Castle and sighed. He could already feel the cold seeping into his room. Earlier that evening, the heating system in the Castle of Lions had broken and, since Coran didn't have all the proper tools needed to repair it, he'd gone off in a pod to go find what he needed on a planet about 3 Vargas away.
"Better bundle up," Keith told himself, rummaging through his closet for some sweatpants and a sweatshirt. He also ended up finding some bright orange fuzzy socks, which he was thankful for, and a beanie that he'd been looking for.
Pulling the sleeves of his sweatshirt up over his hands to keep them warm, Keith wiggled underneath the mountain of blankets on his bed, confident that he'd keep warm.
...
A muffled knock. A muffled voice.
"Keith?"
Keith winced. Who the- Was that Lance?
Grimacing, Keith slowly dragged himself out of bed, only to be met by the freezing cold air in his room. Shivering, Keith stumbled groggily to his door.
Upon opening it, Lance's face turned hopeful. The blue paladin was standing with a pile of blankets in his arms. He, too, was wearing a sweatshirt, the drawstrings of the hood pulled tight so that all Keith could see was the bridge of Lance's nose and his dark eyes.
"Lance," Keith greeted in a low, gravelly voice.
Lance held the blankets out to Keith. "Everyone's doubling up because it's so cold. Pidge and Allura, Hunk and Kaltenecker, Shiro and Adam. I just thought..."
Keith blinked hard. Lance wanted to double up with him? "I would've thought that you'd rather freeze than sleep with me."
Lance laughed nervously. "Me too."
Sighing, Keith wrapped his arms around himself, shivering more. "Alright," he said, "come on it."
Lance hurried inside Keith's room, looking around like Keith's room was the most interesting place in the world (it wasn't). The only thing to say about Keith's room, really, was that it was clean. Nothing on the floor, the tops of his dressers pretty barren, neat and tidy, just how Keith liked.
Lance quickly spread his share of blankets over Keith's small bed and dove in immediately. He felt a little awkward doing this, but he was cold and Keith didn't seem to mind too much. After a few seconds, Lance felt the bed shift beside him as Keith slipped under the blankets and then heard Keith's breathing begin to slow.
"Thanks, Keith," he whispered and Keith grunted in reply.
...
Keith woke up feeling too warm for comfort. He opened his eyes to see a tuft of brown hair in front of his face and was barely able to keep himself from yelling out before realizing that it was only Lance.
The blue paladin had his arms wrapped securely around Keith's torso, his head resting on top of Keith's chest as he snored lightly. Keith let his head fall back against his pillow, rolling his eyes. Coming to his senses, he realized that his room was now warm again.
Careful not to disturb Lance, Keith slowly peeled a few blankets back off the bed, letting them fall to the floor so that the bed wasn't so warm. Lance shifted slightly in his sleep and Keith automatically froze, nervous that he'd woken him, but the snores continued.
Content, Keith laid back against his pillow. He was surprised to find that he didn't mind Lance's clinginess as he drifted back into sleep.
