Day 1 - First Snow

Keith and Lance walked through the frozen tundra together, searching for the tracks of the alien they were searching for. The stone ground was frozen and a light layer of frost covered it, just enough to be able to see any footprints.

But so far, they weren't having much luck.

"Anything?" Lance asked Keith through the comm system. Keith looked over at the blue paladin, shaking his head.

"Nothing."

Lance spoke into the comm system that broadcasted to the Castle of Lions. "We're not seeing anything, Coran. Should we come back?"

There was a moment of silence over the comm, and then Coran's reply, "Alright, Lance. Pidge said that she picked up some heat signatures on the next planet over, so maybe we'll head over there next."

"Sounds good. We'll be back in a few doboshes."

Keith and Lance turned around and began walking back to the Castle of Lions. "Well, that sucks," Lance sighed, speaking to no one in particular.

Keith shrugged. "Maybe we'll have more luck on the next planet."

All of the sudden, something floated down from the sky and fell to the ground. Lance stopped short, bending down to inspect it. "It can't be," he muttered.

Keith stopped as well. "What is it?"

Lance didn't answer. Instead, he looked up at the sky, which was a cloudy, grey dome far above their heads. Another something floated down in front of Keith this time and he blinked, disbelieving.

"Coran?" Keith heard Lance ask over the comm. "Is it snowing?"

After a few moments, Pidge's voice replied. "Yes! We're seeing it here too! The molecules in this atmosphere are very similar to those of Earth's- the low temperature is causing the clouds to form snow!"

As if brought by Pidge's words, more and more flakes seemed to fall down faster and faster, leaning on Keith and Lance's armor, the ground, flurrying around them in swirls.

Lance breathed a sigh of wonder as he stared up at the sky. "Pidge, you said that the atmosphere was similar to Earth's. Can I..." he paused. "Can I take off my helmet?"

Keith waited for Pidge's reply with curiosity. "I guess so. But only for a few minutes, Lance. I'm still figuring out the composition."

Lance didn't need any further confirmation. He reached up and took off his helmet, tilting his head back and up to the sky, closing his eyes. Keith did the same, a little more cautious, but a little excited too.

They stood there together, silent, feeling the snow on their faces until Lance spoke up quietly. "I've missed the snow."

Keith looked at him curiously. Lance looked so pretty, so peaceful and calm standing there. Keith smiled softly.

"Yeah. Me too."
