Sick Keith

Keith's POV:

I was wrapped up in a blanket sitting in my room feeling miserable. My nose was stuffy and I couldn't breathe, I sneezed every two minutes and I was always too hot or cold. I felt awful.

And as if things couldn't get worse... the sirens went off throughout the castle and Allura voice came in through the intercom. "Paladins, we need Voltron now!"

I growled and stood up dizzily slowly putting on my armor trying not to vomit.

I carefully ran stopping periodically to keep myself from passing out or throwing up along the way.

"Keith?! Where have you been?!? The other paladins are already out fighting!" Allura yelled and I didn't respond and just sickly made my way into the hangers. I stared at the zip line before climbing down slowly instead.

One glance at the speeder and I knew my body wasn't having it. I tried running but... no. That wasn't gonna work.

By the time I reached my lion I was in a cold sweat and panting heavily feeling dizzy. "Paladins, mission accomplished. Report back to the castle." Shiro said through the helmet.

I groaned making a slow trip back. I quickly wiped my forehead and acted as normal as possible as I walked in. Everyone was looking at me angrily arms crossed and everything.

"Where were you?! What if we needed to form Voltron?!" Shiro snapped.

"Wait, this is Keith we're talking about. He probably has a good reason." Lance said plopping in his seat.

I was kind of surprised to have Lance defend me a little. There's no way I'm surrendering though, nor to being sick. "I slept through the alarm."

Lances mouth hung open slightly. Shiro however looked furious. "Keith Eugene Kogane!" Everyone was dead surprised, he'd used my full name.

"Wait your middle name is Eugene?" Lance looked to me in confusion. I nodded and he blushed slightly.

"Keith, how could you be so irresponsible and-." Shiro had never been so angry with me.

"Wait Shiro, don't you think your being a little irrational? I mean, I hate to actually be nice to Keith for once but he trains a lot. He's probably exhausted from being a huge idiot and working to save the world." Lance cut in again.

I almost actually felt touched of course up until the point where he called me a huge idiot.

"Lance-," Shiro began, I thought he was going to yell at him two before he calmed slightly. "Keith, we'll discuss this tomorrow." With that, he turned and left.

I felt bad but if Shiro knew I was sick I wouldn't be allowed to fight. That wasn't exactly my taste. I think what's worse was the entire time Shiro was talking I was just trying to keep from puking. Wait, no I'm really going to barf!

I took off running as fast as possible trying to outrun my dizziness. I slid my door opened with lightning speed and ran to the bathroom vomiting into the toilet. I head footsteps behind me but I didn't bother. I just sat there miserable waiting for my vision to clear.

"Keith? Are you alright?" Lance put his hand on my shoulder lightly. "I knew something was up, are you sick?"

"N-no." I spoke in a deep rough voice.

I then threw up again.

He began to rub circles in my back and pulled my hair out of my face. After about 10 minutes of not throwing up I began to feel a little better. "I think I'm good now."

"Don't worry, my siblings would get sick sometimes and being the oldest in the house, I'd have to take care of them. I got you." Lance grabbed our my toothbrush and squirted some toothpaste on it. He then set out a small bit of lysterine. "Wait here." He walked out and returned with a bowl. "Here's how we're gonna do this. You'll be more miserable with vomit breath so do a couple strokes with the toothbrush rinse with lysterine and go straight to bed. The key is to be as quick as possible but as slow as possible. If you think you're gonna throw up, that's what the bowl is for. Ready?"

I nodded sickly and he helped me up. I did as he said and he walked me to my bed. He had me lay on top of my comforter instead.

"I have here water to stay hydrated, orange juice for vitamin D, and sprite, or at least something similar to sprite for your stomach."

"Thanks Lance but I'm okay, I'm not even sick." I laughed not wanting to move.

"Keith, you look dead." Lance smiled walking to my closet. "What do you want for cloths? Unless you want to wear your armor to bed?"

"Gee, Thanks." I said sarcastically. "And I don't know, whatever is in there."

Lance rolled his eyes and dig through my cloths. "Here." He pulled out basketball shorts and a thin T-shirt. He set them next to me awkwardly. "D-did you want, um, help or..." his face was red. I thought I was the sick one.

"I think I got it." I unlatched my armor plates painfully slow and Lance rolled his eyes.

"You can ask me for help." He reached forward and unlatched all of it leaving me in the black under suit. We were pretty close and froze staring at each other. He was looking from my eyes to all over my face. "Um, I'll go get you some thin blankets." He shot up and left.

I rested my head 'for just a second'. When he got back he set the blankets down and sat next to me on the bed.

"I'll help you." He grabbed my tank and shorts.

"Sorry, I forgot." I sat up slowly.

"You're fine. You'll get to sleep in just a second I promise." He said softly. He helped my shirt off and at this point both our faces were red. Hopefully he just thinks it's because I'm sick. When he pulled the tank on me his hands slightly grazed my skin. I felt so stupid for making a big deal of it in my head.

I then felt his hand glide over my torso. My eyes went wide and I looked at him.

"I'm sorry." He quickly stood up. "You really should dress yourself, I shouldn't-."

"Lance I, uh. Wait." I grabbed the sleeve of his jacket. He turned around and looked at me questioningly. "Maybe, you could um, pick up where you left off when I'm not scared of accidentally barfing on you."

His eyes widened. "Wait you actually...?"

"Yeah." I said embaressed. A smile spread across his face and he nodded.

"I'd like that." Lance said. He helped me into the rest of my cloths and laid a blanket on me. "Do you want me to stay?"

"Yeah, but I don't want to get you sick." I looked at him pleadingly.

"Don't worry, I have the immune system of a brick wall."

I smiled, "You sure?"

He nodded and laid next to me. Playing with my hair. It was unbelievably soothing. He French braided it and said it was in case I needed to throw up again.

We both fell asleep Lance being a big spoon. When I woke up his arms were wrapped around my waist protectively.

"Keith?"

"Hmm?" I hummed in response.

"Are you hungry?"

"Yeah, starving." I rolled over to face him.

"I'll make you some of my famous chicken noodle soup." He smiled warmly. He got up and stretched.

"That would be amazing. Thank you Lance."

"Anything for you Keithy." He kissed the top of my head before leaving. Great now I'm sick and flustered.

He came back about twenty minutes later with a bowl of soup in hand.

"I'd like to say there's more if you want seconds but everyone else ate it all." Lance frowned handing it to me carefully.

"Thanks it smells amazing!" I carefully ate it and let me say, it was the best soup I ever had. "Holy fork, Lance this tastes heavenly! Why haven't you made this before!?" I took another bite.

"I only make it when someone's sick. It's always a nice treat."

"I need to be sick more often." I quickly finished the soup before cuddling back into Lance.

There was a small knock as the door opened. "Hey Keith, I want to talk to you now about yesterd-." Shiro froze at the sight.

"Oh, um, h-hi Shiro." Lance smiled and waved guiltily.

"Lance? Am I missing something here?" Shiro looked so confused.

"Keith's sick. He's been super sick. I found out yesterday after the mission. That's also why he was late." Lance filled him in.

"I'm not sick!" I groaned and as if on cue nearly threw up snatching the bowl worriedly.

"Yeah, whatever helps you sleep at night." Lance rolled his eyes rubbing my back again.

I glared at him and set the bowl back down before leaning back. "Alright Shiro, unleash your anger."

"Well, I can see why you were late, just be honest next time and tell us you're sick." Shiro then began to leave before turning back around. "Oh and another thing, I'm sure Pidge is going to love to hear this." He smiled widely before quickly rushing out the door closing it behind him.

"Shiro!" We both yelled angrily.

"Well, I didn't expect it to go that way." Keith laughed looking to Lance who was pouting slightly. "What?"

"I won't be the only one to take care of you anymore." Lance played with a piece of Keith's hair.

"What are you talking about?"

"I liked being the only one taking care of you. It's kinda selfish but I like having you to myself." Lance wrapped his arms around me lovingly before leaning in and kissing my cheek.

I blushed and hugged him back. "You better prepare yourself for when I'm feeling better." I said causing his face to go red and smirk.
