"Allura needs help." Lance spoke sternly.

"We know, but we can't form Voltron without her piloting the blue lion. If we go in there now, we might as well be handing them Voltron." Shiro argued.

"The red paladin is right, Allura is the princess, saving her is the top priority." Coran said stricter than any of them could imagine coming from the man.

"But Voltron-" Shiro began.

"Will be fine. Because... we aren't bringing it." Lance threw the idea out.

"Lance, that's suicide." Shiro disregarded the thought.

"No! It works! Look, paladins are replaceable; Lions, Allura, they're not." Lance stood his ground.

"We can't all risk our lives like that." Shiro looked to Pidge and Hunk who were watching the conversation with worried expressions.

"I'll go by myself." Lance said filling the room with a deadly silence, much like the deadly mission.

"Lance, are you sure? You could be killed." Shiro repeated. "I'll go with you."

"No, you're the leader of Voltron, we can't replace you either." Lance spoke calmly.

Lance climbed into the pod buckling in (Wear your seatbelts). He tested his communicator with Pidge getting a thumbs up.

"I can't believe I'm letting you do this." Shiro said grabbing the edge of the pod.

"It'll be fine. I'll get the princess back, don't worry." Lance assured although he wasn't so sure himself.

Lance was waved off before getting sucked into the vacuum of space. He quickly directed the route for the ship they were sure held Allura.

Lance activated the pods camouflage, a perk of Pidge's genius like mind. He flew in with the other Galra ships unseen landing it behind them. When the coast was clear, Lance jumped out and snuck down the hallway.

He heard soldiers and ducked behind a wall. They passed and he quickly moved on.

A door slid open just as Lance was passing and a Galra soldier stood for an awkward moment before running back in quickly to sound the alarms. Lance chases after him and took the soldier to the ground but the man had just barely managed his hand onto the panel to press a round red button.

Alarms blared and Lance quickly jumped up running out of the room. He found the cells where captives were kept and quickly ducked inside.

Aliens of all cultures, shapes, and colors stared at him. No Allura. He unlocked the cells releasing them.

They all thanked him but Lance was too distracted. "Have you seen a princess, Altean, blue markings, with white hair?"

"Yes, She was here a moment ago. Lotor took her." An old alien with ogre like ears spoke.

"Thank you." Lance took off. He knew Lotor all too well. He wishes he could just punch him in his stupid face.

Lance ran into a large open room. Standing before him was Lotor. Standing next to him was Allura and another boy, both of which had their hands tied.

"Well, Keith, your time has come. This one should be easy." Lotor said untying the boy.

The boy didn't say anything but he glanced from Lance to Allura.

Lance stared tightening his grip on his gun. The boy had dark rich black hair, wavy and slightly longer. He looked completely human beside one single purple mark on his cheek. His face was stern as he grabbed a sword and stepped forward to fight.

Lance knew it wasn't the time but he couldn't help but find him good looking. "This is unfair. I have a long range weapon, his is close range." Lance spoke cutting a look to Lotor.

"Then shoot him! You can win Lance, aren't you a 'sharpshooter'?" Lotor spoke mischeviously.

"No! I'm not going to shoot him!" Lance looked horrified back to the boy.

"So be it. Keith." Lotor nodded.

Keith began walking toward Lance ready to fight. Lance was backing away but maintained his guard.

"Please. Stop." Lance spoke quietly.

Keith seemed to have a flicker of concern in his eyes before gripping his sword tighter and raising it.

"Keith, that's your name right?" Lance spoke with urgency.

Keith kept quiet but nodded ever so slightly. He looked regretful, like he didn't want to do this. That was Lances only hope.

"Please, Keith." Lance was desperate.

"Keith." Lotor warned.

The boy turned stern again and lunged. Lance stepped blocking the attack with his gun. But Keith side-swept Lance making him go crashing to the ground.

He didn't get the chance to recover as Keith had him back down in a matter of moments with the sword to his throat. Lance breathed heavily, "I don't want to die."

Keith faltered. He was sitting on top of Lance with his arms pinned under his legs. "Stop talking." He snapped looking truly troubled.

Lance watched in horror as Keith lifted his sword just above his face. He couldn't do it. He swore and threw the weapon at Lotor. It whizzed past hitting the wall behind him making the man pull back in shock. he ran out the door seeing his plan had failed. He knew he couldn't battle all three without back up.

Before Keith could do anything else Lance had his gun pointed at him. Keith raised his hands and climbed off the boy looking troubled.

Lance slowly lowered his gun. "Thank you."

Keith looked up. "You should leave, now. Guards will be here any moment."

"What about you?" Lance untied Allura.

"Forget him Lance, lets go." Allura pulled his arm.

Lance didn't hear, he was too focused on the boy. "They'll kill you, won't they."

"I'm a traitor aren't I?" Keith leaned against the wall accepting his fate.

Lance ran and pulled the boy up. "Come on." He pulled him down the hall Allura following.

They made it back to the room full of ships however the wall that was once open allowing them to pass through freely was closed. "Damn." Lance looked horrified.

"I got it." Keith began shoving a half destroyed engine near the wall and tinkered with it for a moment. He ran back and pulled them behind a ship. Soldiers ran in only to be met with a large explosion. They were already in the pod protecting them from the harsh elements of space.

The pod was really only meant for two people but they made it work. Allura didn't seem happy about him tagging along but Lance could care less, they were not leaving him to die because he helped them.

Lance skillfully flew them out under gunfire. He went as fast as he could back in the direction of the castle.

"Thank you." Keith said.

"We should be thanking you." Lance smiled.

"No we shouldn't! How do we know he's not just tricking us for information?" Allura snapped.

"Allura, he saved us both." Lance argued.

"I don't know there's any way I can ease your suspicions. You'll have to take my word." Keith spoke stolidly.

"Galra can't be good, it's not in your nature." Allura muttered.

"That's not true! There are good Galra out there." Keith became angered by her comment.

"You don't look Galra." Lance observed.

"I'm only half Galra. My father was human."

"For real? Like Earth human?" Lance asked excitedly.

"Yeah."

"We're all human! Well besides Allura and Coran of course, their altean." Lance smiled.

Keith felt comfort in this. He was stuck quite close to Lance but neither minded. "Not all Galra are bad like you may think. There's the Blade of Marmora. They are a rebellion of Galra people going against Zarcon. My mother is part of it."

"Then what were you doing with Lotor?" Allura asked skeptical.

"Did it look like I was there voluntarily?" He glared. "I was taken a few years back."

"I'm sorry." Lance spoke feeling sympathy for him. Allura however didn't care, he was Galra and that was that.

"No, it's alright." He smiled. "I'm out now." He leaned his head back feeling at ease. Lance couldn't help but stare. The boy was handsome, dark, mysterious, but caring. His neck and collarbones exposed and that jawline.

"Lance!" Allura yelled pointing ahead. He quickly jerked the pod barely missing a meteor. "Keep your eyes on the void!"

Keith was sitting normally again making Lance frown slightly. "Sorry."

Lance was particularly interested in Keith, there was no doubt in his mind.

Keith watched as Lance steered. He knew Lance had been staring at him and that's why he nearly crashed. He thought back to them fighting. He couldn't do it. He couldn't kill this boy.

Keith's eyes trailed up Lances arms, his tanned skin, he had soft brown hair, the color of rich soil. His eyes. It wasn't necessarily the color that caught his attention, it was what was inside them. Fiery and passionate, it burned behind his contrasting cool blue eyes giving Keith goosebumps. His lips were pinched and he took forceful breaths of uncertainty.

Keith watched as Lance steered them to a large ship landing inside. They climbed out when the room had well enough oxygen levels. The others ran in quickly dying to see if he managed to rescue the princess or not.

"Lance! Allura!" Pidge yelled and they gave hugs and proud looks.

"Who's this?" Shiro asked a little more serious.

"This is Keith, he-" Lance began.

"Is Galra." Allura finished distastefully.

They all prepared to attack but Lance quickly jumped into action at the misunderstanding. "Woah, woah, woah!" Lance threw his hands up standing in front of Keith tryin to get them to back down. "He's good! Trust me. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have made it."

Shiro looked at Keith untrustingly but saw Lance was not going to back down. He signaled for them to put down their weapons. "Why did you bring him here? He could be tricking us."

"He's not." Lance said stubbornly. "If we would've left him there, they would've killed him because he helped us."

Keith felt horrible watching this play out. He was the cause of this. "I'll leave as soon as I can. I don't want to cause any trouble."

Lance turned around sadly. "You're leaving?"

Keith felt his heart sink to his stomach. "I'm sure if my mother is still alive she will want to know I am as well. I can't stay here, I know none of you will sleep well at night knowing someone with Galra blood is here."

"But your mom, It could take a while before you can get ahold of her right? If she's part of a secret organization to stop Zarcon." Lance asked.

"Maybe, but you've already been unbelievably kind. I won't take advantage of your generosity." Keith said stolidly once again.

Lance frowned. "You aren't. At least stay here a bit?"

"Do I get a say in this? This is my ship after all." Allura spoke.

"He isn't bad!" Lance yelled.

"Lance, it's probably best I leave." Keith looked from Allura to him.

Lance finally had enough. "You, stop making him uncomfortable." He pointed at Allura. "All of you, stop looking at me like I'm crazy." He pointed at the others. "And you are staying the night." He pointed at Keith. No one had seen Lance so assertive and they stared in shock nodding slightly knowing he was serious.

"Yes sir." Pidge muttered saluting lazily. She left with Hunk, Allura, and Shiro. At least if it comes down to it, Hunk and Pidge will likely have his back.

Lance turned to Keith. "I'm sorry they treated you like that. I promise it won't happen again. They just need a bit to warm up to you."

Keith nodded slightly. "I can't blame them."

"Can I ask you something?" Lance looked up at him with curious blue eyes.

"Yeah, of course."

"Why didn't you do it?" Lance asked.

Keith knew exactly what he was referring to. "I... I couldn't."

"But why?" Lance stood closer.

"You're... I don't know... special?" Keith panicked.

"Special?" Lances face flattened with disappointment.

"No, not like that! Just- I-my stomach." Keith said making no sense. He facepalmed as Lance stared at him confusedly. "My stomach twisted when I saw you, in a good way."

Lances expression lightened. "In a good way huh?"

"Yeah well..." he trailed off when Lance was even closer. He nearly forgot to breathe as the boy in front of him looked at him dead in the eyes.

Lance lifted his hand and touched Keiths cheek experimentally. There was something there, it was powerful and both boys knew what it was now.

Lance blinked realizing his actions and cleared his throat taking a step back. "Sorry, I-I just met you two hours ago. What am I thinking?" He spoke realizing he was insane putting his head in his hands.

"I think you were onto something." Keith smiled.

Lances head shot up and looked at him with astonishment.

"Lance, can I talk to you for a moment?"  Allura walked through the door looking serious.

"Yeah." Lance looked to Keith and gave him an assuring smile.

She pulled him aside and gave him an angry look. "You can't trust him. There is no way to tell if he's good or not."

"He's good, I can tell." Lance looked at Keith who was standing a distance away to give them privacy pretending he couldn't hear the conversation. A blush spread on his cheeks the longer he stared at the half-Galra boy. "And... I think I like him. I think he likes me too."

Allura eyes went wide. "Lance! Do you ever listen? He is pure evil!"

Lance glanced in the boy's direction again. Keith was sitting criss-cross on the floor, he sneezed sounding like a kitten and Lance held back a deadly laugh. He was pure evil all right.

"You've got to be kidding me." She set her head in her hands. "If I can't change your mind then I'll get someone who will."

"You do that." Lance waves her off before rejoining Keith.

"So, you think you like me huh?" Keith looked at him leaning back on his hands.

"Oh, you heard that." Lance laughed guiltily.

"You're also correct about the me liking you too." Keith spoke boldly yet he had pink dusted cheeks.

Lance smiled widely. "Wanna go to my room?" He said suggestively.

===

Lance went into his closet and pulled out a box of mysterious items while Keith sat on his bed curiously.

Keith's breath hitched when he saw the contents. How had Lance gotten his hands on those in space.

"My Pokémon card collection." Lance said excitedly. "It's hard to collect these from space but I have my way."

"I don't think I could be any more attracted to you right now." Keith smiled goofily.

"I have Snorlax." Lance said deadly serious flipping through is Pokémon book.

They both laughed and slowly inched closer. They began to kiss and Lance slid his collection off his lap and danced his hands through Keiths hair.

There was a knock at the door. They pulled apart and Lance frowned. "Who is it?" He called.

"It's Shiro." He said from the others side.

"Urgg!" Lance groaned annoyed standing up. Keith sat back up and decided to look through Lances cards some more. "It's not like I have a super cute boy in room or anything." Lance mumbled before opening the door getting a small laugh from Keith.

"Hey, Allura wanted me to talk to you." Shiro looked past Lance seeing Keith. "In private." He added.

"Fine. I'll be right back." Lance stepped out for a moment and shut the door. "What?"

"We're concerned. We can't be sure if he is good or not. Lance, he could easily be tricking you." Shiro warned.

"I'll keep that in mind. I'll ponder and treasure that advice. I promise." Lance said sarcastically m already heading back into his room. He shut the door behind him and sat back on the bed.

Keith was still flipping through his cards.

"Want to pick up where we left off?" Lance asked getting closer.

"Not a chance. I didn't know you have Blastoise." He said excitedly.

"I actually have two." Lance said proudly pulling out another Pokémon collection book.

"Holy Scizor." He muttered.

"I'll trade you." Lance smiled.

"I don't have any cards." Keith looked at him curiously.

Lance held up one of his Blastoise cards. "It's not a card I want. I'll give you this for a kiss."

Keith eyed the card. He grabbed it before capturing Lances lips. They parted.

"Hm, you must like me." Lance smirked.

"Or I just really like Blastoise." Keith said inspecting the card. "You were more of a perk." He teased.

"Ow, ouch. Argh, ow." Lance gripped his chest. "Ow, my heart."

Keith rolled his eyes and laughed. They were about to kiss again but there was a knock at the door.

"Nooooo!" Lance wined. "Every time." He stood up and opened the door.

"Sup losers." Pidge smirked.

"Hey, we brought cookies." Hunk held up a tray.

"Ooh! Come right in." Lance stepped to the side.

"We thought we'd come hang out with you two. Allura is freaking out and Shiro's trying to calm her down. He trusts you Lance, don't fudge it up." Pidge smiled and plopped on Lances bed next to Keith.

"Keith's good. He likes Pokémon." Lance stated.

"You showed him your collection?" Hunk said surprised playing along.

"Yeah, he even gave me one of his Blastoise." He held it up proudly.

"Gave?!" Pidge yelled. "What the hell Lance. I wanted your Bisharp and you made me prank Shiro by switching his sugar with salt, add coasters to your lion, AND get a hair of Coran's mustache."

Lance shrugged, "I didn't give it to him per say. He had his price."

"What was it?" Pidge folded her arms raising an eyebrow.

Keith was blushing madly. Lance wouldn't tell them would he? Then again, these two were far more trusting and kind.

"He had to kiss me." Lance said proudly.

"Wow Lance, way to bribe him." Pidge teased.

"I feel like he got it way to easily." Hunk whined.

"You just met him today, why does he get the good deals?" Pidge groaned.

"Because Lance likes him." Hunk teased.

Keith smiled smugly at Lance. "That's not fair. He likes me back." Lance pointed his finger.

"Lance likes Keith!" They all chimed again.

"Arg! You guys are mean." Lances flopped back on his bed.

"Lance likes Keith!" they chimed again as Lance pulled a pillow over his head. Keith just laughed at how easily they could get under his skin. It was like watching siblings.

"Well, I'm going to upgrading the programming on my computer. I want to make it holographic like alien tech." Pidge smiled deviously. "Bye lovebirds."

She left and Hunk smiled. "Yeah I'm going to go too. I want to help Coran with dinner, if anyone is going to keep him from making goo, it's me."

He left. Keith and Lance looked to each other knowing all too well that they were alone again.

"I should try to get ahold of the blade. Is there any communications systems you'd be open to letting me use?" Keith asked.

"Yeah." Lance stood up and Keith followed him out the door.

They made it to the main control room where Allura was swiping at holograms of the universe.

"Keith needs to use the phone." Lance said sitting down.

"The what?" She turned around confused.

"Your communications system. I need to get ahold of the blade." Keith explained.

"I didn't ask you." She glared.

"Allura." Lance frowned.

"It's okay. Look, the quicker I can rejoin the blade, the quicker you can get rid of me." Keith explained on terms that appealed to her.

"Wait, I don't want you to go." Lance looked at the boy sadly.

"Well, in that case, use it as you like. But if any Galra manage to find our position, all blame is on you." She warned and stepped out.

"Who says I won't come back?" Keith gave Lance a devious smile.

Lance smiled and watched as Keith typed. Keith made sure to use specific sequences that his mother would answer to.

She answered with a stern face as per usual. "Keith. Thank god." She smiled.

"Woah, that's your mom?" Lance whispered. "You two look quite a lot alike."

Keith grabbed Lances hand and pulled him into the shot.

"Who's that?" She asked squinting.

"This is Lance. He saved me from Lotor." Keith introduced.

"That's not really true, he saved me first." Lance smiled shyly.

"He's scrawny. I could choke him with my pinky." She observed stolidly.

"Yeah, that's true, but he's a sharpshooter. He's got an excellent shot." Keith protested.

"You've never actually seen my shot." Lance went to point out but Keith squeezes his hand.

"I'll take Lotors word for it." Keith smiled nervously.

"Do you mind if I ask you your name? I only know you as Keith's mom." Lance asked.

"I'm Krolia." She said unamused.

"Nice to uh.. meet you, Krolia." Lance was unbelievable self conscious. He was desperate for Keith's moms approval.

"Introduce yourself. Keith keep to yourself." She instructed.

"Oh, okay. I'm Lance McClain, paladin of the blue lion-" Lance started.

"You're what?!" Both Keith and his mom yelled.

"Uh, yeah, were the paladins of Voltron, I pilot the blue lion. Shiro the black, Pidge the green, Allura the red, and Hunk is the yellow." Lance explained to Keith.

"Well, I suppose you're worthy." His mother said stubbornly.

"Worthy of what?" Lance gulped.

"Keith where are you located?" Krolia asked ignoring his question all together.

"I'm sending you the coordinates." Keith typed.

"I'll be there soon." She hung up.

"Wow, I think my mom actually likes you." Keith smiled at him.

"She does? I didn't pick up on that." Lance looked at him still shaken.

"Nah, she just wanted to intimidate you." Keith brushed it off.

"Now, that I picked up on." Lance said goofily.

"Also," Keith punched Lance in the shoulder, "you're a paladin of Voltron? Why did you fail to mention that before?"

"It didn't come up!" Lance said defensively gripping his shoulder.

"You're unbelievable." He rolled his eyes.
