Pain In The Christmas Tree

LilStar-Lord SURPRISE IM YO SECRET SANTA! I hope your like this, I wrote this while I'm- well really still sick. So yeah, hope you like it, sorry it's not in French. We should talk more btw. And Gleek_runner who organized it your amazing!!! Love you and yeah.

It was Christmas Eve and /they/ were panicking. The whole apartment was decorated perfectly by Kurt, something amazingly cooked by Blaine filled the air. It screamed the Christmas spirit. They were getting ready for there friends and family to come over tomorrow. It was there first Christmas in there new house, it wasn't big, but big enough to at least start a family as a newly wed couple.

Kurt was in the kitchen with Blaine, as he cooked the last things for tomorrow's party. Kurt was fixing a ornament Blaine dropped earlier. He sang along with Blaine to the radio, doing his part of Baby Its Cold Outside.

"See good as new!" Kurt smiled holding up the repaired ornament. It shined like new, like Blaine had never knocked it down.

Blaine looked over to his husband and smiled, going over to hug around his shoulders, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "See, I knew you'd fix it. Like it never even fell."

"Knocked over." Kurt corrected, raising a perfectly manicured eyebrow to him. Blaine rolled his eyes and pecked his husbands lips. "Oh stop it. I said sorry, I've been cooking all day leave me alone." Blaine replied walking back to the stove top, stirring his great creation.

Kurt got up and let the ornament dry more on the table. He leaned against the doorway of the kitchen, leading into the living room. There stockings hung, over the perfectly lit fireplace, decorated with wreaths and garland. He had his mothers tradition decorations lying around, as well as some he and Blaine couldn't resist to buy over the years.

"Were missing something." Kurt said looking around the room. Blaine looked over to him and went next to him looking around there living room. "Babe, it looks perfect, you did an amazing job."

Kurt leaned against him bitting his lip, nodding. Blaine kissed his temple in reassurance, he went back to his job, as Kurt got the fully dried ornament going into the living room.

"Where would I even put it?" Kurt mumbled to himself looking around the room. "Oh- duh the tree."
Kurt laughed looking around the room again. Then his body tensed, he froze, letting the ornament drop, pieces back the way they were.

Blaine heard and ran into the living room. "Kurt, honey, what's wrong?" He put his hands on his shoulders looking at him nervously.

"I know what we forgot." Kurt replied looking at an empty corner. Blaine looked at the corner with him, "what?"

"The tree." Kurt said looking at his husband with panic. Blaine's eyes widen. "Damn it... ok, ok, don't panic hon- look at me." Blaine said Facing Kurt to him, gripping his shoulders tightly.

"Go get your shoes on, and our coats, I'll finish up quick, and we'll head out. There's bound to be last minute sales." Blaine smiled, giving Kurt a small amount of comfort. Kurt could only nod before, hurrying to do so.

Blaine turned off he oven, making sure his food was safe, getting on his shoe and coat with Kurt. He grabbed the car keys and ran out with him, driving quickly to the nearest plant nursery. The one Blaine passed on his way to work, the one his class told him about they all got trees from, they had plenty of trees. They pulled up, and got out. Kurt rubbing his arms, as Blaine put an arm around him, warming his husband, trying to calm his anxiety.

"No trees, sorry." The man who worked there called.
"No come on, you had plenty yesterday!" Blaine called getting angry.
Kurt rubbed the back of Blaine's neck, trying to calm him, knowing he would get angry easily.
"Sorry pal, you wouldn't believe how many people wait till last minute." The man said shrugging.

Blaine groaned and turned back to the car.
"The nursery, by my publisher had some, let's try them." Kurt said, getting in with Blaine. Blaine nodded and drove off to there, Kurt was currently an author of a book series called, Teenage Dream. You can guess who inspired it.

They pulled up to the place, hoping they had some. Blaine pulled up and saw the dreaded sign. 'Closed'. Kurt felt like crying on the spot, sobbing like a little kid, who's heart broke.

"No, no, no." Kurt replied getting out of the car and going to shake on the gates. "Kurt!" Blaine yelled, going after him, as he put his hands on his shoulders.

Kurt then started to cry, he leaned his head against the gate and cried, Blaine collected his husband in his arms. He rubbed his back allowing Kurt to cry on his shoulder. "Sweetie, we can go without a Christmas tree... it's not the end of the world."

"Yes it is... its just like the first Christmas when my mom died. My mom always got the tree, and I'd decorate it, telling her which ornaments to put where. Then... my dad was busy with the shop, she wasn't around to get it. So on Christmas Eve, I got the ornaments out in my room. And I hung them on the window blinds. My dad must have saw, my stupid excuse for a Christmas tree. And when I woke up it was there.... waiting to be decorated, and presents under it. I remember it so clearly, it had white lights and it already hung a little santa ornament. My dad said it was mom's gift to me."
Kurt sniffled looking at him.
"It's stupid but, a Christmas tree has always been important to me... I've always remembered. I feel like I'll forget my mom if I forget. It was her special thing. The Christmas tree."

Blaine frowned rubbing his husbands back, as he let his head rest in the crook of his neck, hand massaging the back of his hair.
"I'm so sorry baby... I should of known..." he kissed his cheek softly, making his sobs calmer.

"It's fine..." Kurt sighed shakily, whipping his nose with his sleeve.
"Let's go home... I'm tired and... it's been too long of a day."

Blaine nodded as he helped him back to their car, getting in and driving in defeat home. They pulled up, Kurt sadly walked inside. Blaine could barley stand to see him like this. He did all he could to make him happy.

They watched elf before bed, Blaine gave him a plate of his favorite cookies, and sang him to sleep. He was still sad. Blaine knew how important his mom was, he didn't want to let Kurt or his mother in law in heaven down. So in his pajamas he got up and out of bed, pulling on his coat and boots going to the car, doing something stupid.

The next morning Kurt woke up to find an empty bed. He looked around the room, Blaine wasn't there. His guesses was baking again, finishing up for the party today.

He sleepily walked downstairs on his autopilot way to get coffee, he stopped short seeing his husband passed out on the couch. He looked in the kitchen, nothing had been cooking. He went into the living room and his heart melted. A tree, in white lights and a single Santa ornament hung. He smiled widely close to tears laughing, he tackled his husband in a hug, kissing his face several times.

Blaine woke up groaning as he gave sleepy kisses back to Kurt. "Morning to you too."
He replied with a goofy smile.
"I can't believe you."
He smiled getting up and touching the tree, "it's real too?"
"Santa came through." Blaine laughed smiling as he sat up.
Kurt smiled to him, "where did santa get this?"
"He went all the way out to the forest and chopped it himself. May have been illegal ,but I think they can understand." Blaine smiled.

Kurt laughed and hugging him tightly, while Blaine laughed hugging back himself.
"Santa must really love you." Blaine laughed.
"Santa must know I have a husband." Kurt laughed cupping his cheeks and kissing him softly.

Blaine smiled and kissed back. "Come on let's decorate the tree, I found your ornaments, tell me and I'll put them where you desire." Blaine smiled.

Kurt laughed and smiled as he told Blaine where to put certain ornaments, "my moms perfume bottle." Kurt smiled as he took out the fancy glass bottle.

"I know where to put this." Blaine smiled as he carefully took it from Kurt's hands, putting it a the center or heart of the tree. Right next to the ornament of Kurt and Blaine one there wedding day.

Kurt was close to tears once more. "It's beautiful." He smiled looking at it. "Wait, the angel on top." Blaine smiled as he held it in his hands. "Kurt wanna do the honors?"

Kurt laughed and nodded getting up as he took the angel. Blaine picked him up as Kurt laughed, setting it perfectly on top of the tree.

Kurt was put back down, and they backed up looking at the finished product. "It's perfect..."

Blaine hugged around his waist kissing his cheek. "Merry Christmas, love."

"Merry Christmas hubby." Kurt smiled sharing a sweet kiss with him. Letting the light of there Christmas tree, lit the whole house till New Years.

Merry Christmas to anyone else who bothered to read this!
