Ten
Harry
I woke up with my arms folded across my chest again, for a second I forgot I was in Jessi's apartment. I opened my eyes and looked around. I couldn't see her anywhere, the only other place to check was the bathroom. It made me realise I really needed to pee. I got up, my feet relaxing against her soft bedroom carpet. I knocked on the bathroom door and it slowly swung open. I stood there and smiled at the sight of her doing yoga on the bathroom floor. I was actually pretty impressed, she was in the crow position. I really didn't want to disturb her but I needed to get passed her to get to the toilet.
"Jessi" I said but she didn't hear me. I noticed she had earphones in. I gently tapped her foot and she freaked out and fell over. She turned round to face me and I was relieved to find she was smiling.
"I think you must have shortened my lifespan by about ten years with the amount of times you've scared me!" she laughed. She held out her hands and I pulled her up off the floor.
"Sorry. I need to pee."
"Are you hungry?" She asked, standing on her tiptoes and pulling my head down so she could kiss my cheek. I nodded as she left the bathroom.
After ten minutes of pleading, I was stood cracking eggs. I was happy Jessi had agreed I could cook even if she did think she should cook since she was 'hosting'. I loved it and I didn't get to do it very often.
"Can I help?" Jessi whispered as her arms snaked around my waist.
"You could make the coffee?" I smiled.
"You like black coffee like me, right?" she said, not letting go of my waist.
"I didn't tell you that" I replied.
"Sorry. That must've sounded a bit weird but Lori told me, she's one of those weird Frappuccino people with extra everything. Honestly, the thing looks more like an ice cream when she's finished" She disappeared from behind me and I suddenly felt cold.
I frowned when she appeared, fully dressed with her hand on the door handle. "Keep making breakfast. I'll be back in two minutes." She smiled and walked out the door.
"Wait! Where are you going?" I yelled after her but the door was already closed. I should have went with her. I walked to the window and watched her walk along the street. I tried to relax, she'd be fine. I decided to do what she said and went back to making breakfast.
She walked back through the door with two cups of coffee just as I was plating up breakfast.
"This smells amazing" she smiled, sitting down at the table.
"Thanks. Where did you go?" I sat down beside her.
"Sam's Deli. He makes the best coffee in New York" She slid one of the cups of coffee towards me. "So you posted my photos to Instagram and Twitter?" she accused.
"Yeah. They're amazing. People should see them." I felt bad that her phone had gone crazy but I was glad people were seeing her photos.
"You crashed my website or your fans did" She laughed. I was glad she wasn't mad at me.
"Sorry. Is it okay now?" I grinned.
"Yeah. It's all sorted. I'm sure you can make it up to me" She winked. I had an idea. I cleared away the plates and opened the fridge and took out a bottle of water. I quickly took a drink of water and walked over to the table and spit a cloud of water in the air.
"Do that again" She commanded as she jumped into my arms. Honestly, I could keep her in my arms forever. I wasn't looking forward to leaving tonight.

Jessi
I leaned back in the bath and smiled as Harry placed his arms on my shoulders. I had to admit I was enjoying having him here, all to myself. No band. No security. No management. Just us.
"How'd you get this scar?" He whispered, running his fingers over the C shape on my shoulder.
"I was hoping you weren't going to ask me about that. I feel as if all I do is tell you tragic stories. I swear I'm not as pathetic as I seem" I laughed awkwardly. It was probably another reason I didn't really get close to many people, there's just too much shitty stuff that's happened.
"Hey! Don't put yourself down like that. I think you're wonderful and by far one of the strongest people I know. It took guts to stand and listen to that song in front of all those people last night, most people would have probably ran away but you didn't" He gently massaged my shoulders.
"My step-dad attacked me with a bottle. Well he wasn't really my step-dad"
"What the fuck?" Harry interrupted. Weirdly I didn't really find this hard to talk about, it seemed to freak out or enrage everyone else though. Lorena completely flips out if anyone mentions it. For me it was the one thing in this whole mess that had an end, he was punished, my wound healed. Sometimes my Mum's death still felt very raw and I didn't think I'd ever heal from that properly.
"It's okay" I said, stroking his leg.
"No Jessi. It's not okay. What happened?" Concern and anger were mixed in his voice.
"Well after my Mum died, I really didn't want to be at home, it was too much. She was everywhere in that house so I started staying out later and later and then Lori made me come stay with her for a few days. Frank claimed he was worried sick but he never tried to call me and he knew where I was. Lori's Mum had called him several times.
Anyway, I went to pick up some clothes and when I got there he'd been drinking. He accused me of stealing my Mum's engagement ring which was bullshit, I wanted nothing to do with that. I later found out he'd pawned it to buy booze. So, I told him I didn't have his stupid ring and he lunged at me and put his arm across my chest, pinning me to the wall. I remember not being scared, I mean Frank was an idiot but I didn't think he'd hurt me, so I just kinda stood there. He smashed the beer bottle he was holding, against the wall, right beside my head and slid his arm up so it was pressed against my throat and then I got scared. He said he'd had enough of my lies and I felt the cold glass touch my skin.
I panicked and kneed him in the groin and his arm fell from my throat and I ran. I didn't even notice he'd cut me until I got back to Lori's house and her Mum freaked out" His arms tightened around me and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't comforting.
"Is he in prison?" He asked.
"He took a plea deal and got twelve months probation." I replied.
"What? So he's out there just walking around?" His raised voice startled me.
"It's fine. He's not allowed to come anywhere near me"
"Oh yeah cause a lunatic who'd hold a broken glass to your throat would never think of breaking that!" He slammed his hand down which caused water to spray everywhere.
"Harry! Calm down. If he comes near me he goes to prison" I spun around to look at him. He looked even more angry than yesterday when I thought he was going to knock Zayn's head off. "It's okay. I am okay" I squeezed him tight.
"I'm sorry." He kissed my head. "I just don't understand how anyone could do something like that to you, especially somebody who was supposed to look after you. I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to you, Jessi"
"I don't plan on going anywhere. Come on, we should get dressed or we're going to be late for your meeting." I smiled as we climbed out the bath.
----------
I was sat in the back of the car with Harry. Mark and Matt were in the car behind us. We were on our way to a hotel where we were supposed to meet a friend of Harry's so he could pretend to do an interview. This was the cover Paul had set up so Harry could stay in New York last night.
"This shouldn't take long, maybe an hour or so and then we can go and get dinner" He smiled as the car stopped. He took my hand and pulled me out the car behind him. He suddenly sped up as a guy with a camera started taking pictures.
"How did they know we'd be here?" He yelled. My short legs struggled to keep up with the determined strides of his long ones as he headed towards the lift.
"I don't know." I replied. He glanced at Mark over my shoulder and I realised he hadn't been talking to me. Mark was on the phone.
"He's not going to like that" Mark sighed and hung up the phone. "Management tipped them off" Harry slammed his fist into the button for the lift and marched inside without saying a word.
"Where's Matt?" Harry snapped.
"Taking the car around the back and Jo will be back when we call him" Mark answered.
"When we leave. Matt comes with me out the front to Jo's car and you leave with Jessi out the back. Okay?" Harry commanded.
"I'll make sure she's safe" Mark nodded. I felt like he was being a tad dramatic over one photographer but I decided not to argue. He didn't say another word until we got to the room.
"Harold!" A voice yelled as the door swung open and I couldn't believe my eyes, standing in front of me was James Corden.
"James." Harry smiled as he walked into the room, still holding my hand.
"Ha-wee" A little blonde kid yelled, running over to hug Harry.
"Hi Max" Harry beamed, picking him up.
"Hi, I'm James" He held out his hand, as if he needed an introduction. I loved pretty much everything James had been involved in.
"Jessi" I shook his hand, trying not to grin like an idiot.
"Like Toy Sto-wee" Max yelled.
"Yeah like Toy Story" I smiled, he was ridiculously cute.
"You know we only have to pretend to do an interview, right?" Harry said, looking at the cameras that had been set up.
"Oh no, Paul said, and I quote 'Do whatever you want with him, just keep him there for a few hours'" James laughed.
"What do you want me to do?" Harry groaned but he was smiling.
"I'm going to give you the toughest interview of your life" James laughed.
"No. Play Daddy!" Max yelled.
"I'll play with you" I smiled. I didn't really want to watch Harry get interviewed anyway. It felt weird.
About an hour or two later and Max had fallen asleep while I read him a story. I could hear Harry and James laughing so I decided to go and see how they were getting on.
"Hey, you ready to go?" Harry smiled.
"Where's Max?" James asked.
"He fell asleep when we were reading stories" I replied.
"You got him to sleep? Come live with me" James laughed.
"Hey, hands off, she's mine" Harry grinned.
"So I'll see you guys at your party, Harry?"
"Yeah. See you later. Give my love to Jules" Harry smiled, taking my hand as we walked out the door.
"What party?" I asked when we got in the lift.
"My birthday party. It's in LA in two weeks. You will come, won't you?" He squeezed my hand tight.
"I'd love to but I think I'm supposed to be working and how would I get there?" I replied.
"I'll send a plane for you. Bring Lori. I told Niall he can invite her" He smiled.
"Ok. I'll try and sort something with work" I smiled. On the inside I was freaking out, who would be there? What should I wear? And what the hell was I going to get him as a present?
"Awesome. I'll meet you at twenty-one for dinner" he kissed my hand before he reluctantly walked out of the lift with Matt.
"We're the next floor down. Stay close to me. There shouldn't be anyone back here but just incase make sure you stay right behind me, okay?" Mark said sternly.
"Okay" I instantly felt nervous. I held onto the back of his shirt as the lift doors opened and I was relieved to find there was nobody there.
"You can get changed before we leave. I'll wait out here" He said. I climbed in and changed into my dress. I'd decided on a blue velvet bodycon dress, Lori had told me to wear something blue. I also quickly put on some make up. I wished Lori was here to help me, make up wasn't my strong point. I slipped on my black heels before knocking on the window to let Mark know I was ready. I heard Matt say they were on their way over the radio and Mark started the car. I leaned back and sighed. I was looking forward to dinner but Harry was leaving for the airport straight afterwards. I was definitely going to miss him.
When we pulled up at the restaurant I was feeling pretty nervous, I fidgeted with my dress as I got out the car. I walked inside and couldn't stop myself from smiling when I saw Harry. He looked amazing. He had on a black suit with a pink shirt. He didn't take his eyes off me as he walked over.
"You look stunning" He smiled, putting his arm around my waist.
"Thank you" I blushed.
"Mr Styles, your table is ready" The hostess smiled at him and placed her hand on his arm. She glared at me as he moved behind me and we followed her to our table. He pulled out my chair for me as I sat down and I gave her a dirty look as she ran her hand along his arm.
"Let me know if there's anything I can get for you Mr Styles. Anything" She smiled at him and batted her eyelashes. I very almost stuck my foot out to trip her on the way past.
"I wish we had stayed in for dinner, you look good enough to eat" His words made me blush again.
"You too. Pink suits you" I smiled. "I've had the best day today."
"I wish I could take you with me" He reached for my hand and interlocked his fingers with mine.
"Me too" I sighed. I was going to miss him. I gazed into his eyes, trying to burn his gorgeous face to my memory, every line, every dimple. I frowned as the hostess appeared again. She brought over menus and a jug of water. I'm pretty sure this wasn't even her job.
"Oh for fuck sake!" I muttered to myself as she made no attempt to hide the fact she was handing him a piece of paper with her number on it. Then she just stood there sticking her chest out. Harry squeezed my hand as he tried to hand the piece of paper back to her. He looked so uncomfortable.
"I know, he's hot isn't he?" I smiled.
"I - Uh - Yeah. He is." She stammered as she finally acknowledged my existence "Sorry" She mumbled as she scurried off.
"Jessi Monroe," He paused, holding both my hands in his. A slight blush on his cheeks.
"Yes, Harry Styles" I giggled.
"I more than like you" He grinned, a huge grin which made me grin in return.
"I more than like you too" I leaned over the table to quickly kiss him.
"What are you going to have to eat?" He picked up his Menu. I started to laugh. "What's funny? Do I have something on my face?" He pouted.
"No. I can't tell you" My cheeks blushed.
"Now you have to tell me" He insisted.
"Okay. I was just thinking about what I'd really like to have for dinner but I don't think it's really appropriate behaviour for a restaurant." My cheeks were now bright red. A mischievous smirk appeared on his face.
"Hey, you can't say things like that when I can't do anything about it for a week!" He sighed. His smirk replaced with a sad smile.
"Sorry" I frowned. "How long are you going to be here next weekend?" I hoped it would be at least a few days.
"Hmm... I think we'll probably get in early Sunday morning and fly out early Monday morning."
"Oh" I sighed but tried to hide my disappointment.
"I'm sorry. I know it's not very long but it's the best I can do" He sighed.
"It's okay. We'll just have to make sure it's an awesome 24 hours" I smiled. I didn't want him to feel bad about doing his job, after all he was amazing at it, and 24 hours was better than nothing. He picked up my hand and gently kissed it. I'd never wanted anyone more than I wanted him right then.
The rest of dinner was a battle. The food and the restaurant were lovely but the more time we spent there, the more I wanted him. I think it was knowing that I couldn't have him and every smile, wink and brush of his hand turned me on. Then there was the underlying sadness at him leaving. I felt exhausted.
Harry held my hand tightly as he guided me out the restaurant, we were almost at the door and I froze at the sight of the camera flashes and the crowd of paparazzi. I hated crowds of people, they made me panic. I didn't like feeling fenced in.
"Jessi! Are you okay?" Harry gasped as he looked me in the eye, he took my other hand in his.
"I don't like crowds of people, they scare me" I whimpered. I noticed I was shaking.
"I'm sorry baby but there's no other way out. I'm here. I won't let go of you. And look, Mark and Matt are there. They will keep them back. You'll be safe. I promise" He gently kissed my lips and I took a deep breath.
"You promise you won't let go?" I bit my lip nervously.
"I promise" He smiled. "You ready?" I nodded and held onto his hand and the back of his jacket. As we walked out the restaurant I kept my head down, watching his feet take one step after another in front of me.
"HARRY! HARRY! HOW WAS YOUR DINNER? WHO IS YOUR FRIEND?" People shouted. I felt somebody push me and then suddenly I wasn't on the ground anymore. Harry's hand slipped from mine but I still had a hold of his jacket. I realised what had happened when Matt put me down beside the car. I quickly climbed inside and Harry closed the door after us.
"You okay?" Harry placed his hands on my cheeks and looked straight into my eyes. I nodded. "Why'd you pick her up? You pulled her hand out of mine!" He yelled at Matt.
"Calm down Harry! One of the paps pushed into her. I thought it was best to get her in the car as soon as possible. I didn't want her getting knocked over" Matt answered. He gave Harry an irritated look.
"Which one pushed her?" Harry yelled. He pressed his nose up against the window, his hand on the door handle.
"I don't know. He had on glasses" Matt shook his head. I was relieved when Jo started driving. Harry was scanning the crowd, his eyes were wild.
"Harry! It's okay. I'm okay" I reached for his hand.
"There was no need for them to push you, Jessi. They were getting their photos. They didn't need to put their hands on you" His hand wrapped around mine as the other pulled at his hair in frustration.
"Harry, stop! Look at me!" I pulled his hand away from his hair. " I'm okay. Everything is fine" I locked my eyes with his.
"I'm sorry" He cupped my face in his hands before kissing me on the forehead. I pulled him into the tightest hug I could manage.
"Don't be sorry. You did nothing wrong" I said. It was true. None of this was his fault. You couldn't imagine how hard it would be to live your life like this, with everyone feeling that they had some sort of right to you. A right to know every detail of your life as if you were some sort of property to be owned rather than an actual human being.
"You have no idea how much I'm going to miss you" He mumbled into my shoulder. His gentle voice pulled me from my thoughts.
"Me too" Was all I could manage as I hungrily found his lips. I kissed him roughly, not caring that Mark and Matt were in the car too. If this was going to be our last kiss for a week then I sure as hell was going to make it count. Harry placed one hand on the small of my back and pulled me closer to him, the other hand was caressing my neck. I sighed against his lips as the car came to a stop.
"I don't want to go" He groaned, not loosening his grip on me.
"I know. I don't want you to go either but you have to. It's your job and you are fantastic at it" I forced a smile.
"Call me as soon as you wake up tomorrow!" He commanded.
"Don't be silly. You'll be asleep" I sighed.
"I said call me as soon as you wake up. Promise me?" He smiled.
"Okay. I promise" I peeled myself away from his grip. He pulled me back, wrapping his arms back around me and kissing me. I was becoming lost in his kiss when either Mark or Matt coughed.
"Sorry Harry, but we need to go" Mark said. Harry reluctantly pulled back and my heart started to ache.
"I'll see you in a week" It's not that long a time I thought to myself. I pulled the door handle and got out the car.
"I can't wait" Harry smiled. I stood on the pavement and watched as his car pulled away, his face pressed up against the window.
Once the car was out of sight, I slowly walked into my apartment building and up the stairs. I stepped inside and sighed as my small, cozy apartment suddenly felt very big and very empty. I looked around and everywhere there was memories of him, the spot where he cooked breakfast, the table where we ate together, the armchair where he called his Mum, the bath we shared together and finally the bed. My heart lifted a little as I looked at my bed, his black t-shirt sprawled across it. He must have left it for me. I walked over to it and spotted a note.
"Since you seem to enjoy wearing my clothes so much, I left this for you. I'll imagine you wearing only this to bed later. Also it came at a price. I borrowed Bob, to help me sleep. I can't wait to see you again. Love, H x"
I smiled as I picked up the t-shirt and breathed it in. It was the t-shirt he'd wore last night. It smelled of him. I couldn't even be mad that he'd taken Bob. He was a white teddy bear with a blue bow that I'd had since I was a baby. I held the t-shirt tightly in my arms and jumped onto the bed, thoughts of Harry filling my head.
I was almost asleep when I heard my phone ring. I pulled it out my pocket and smiled when I saw it was Harry.
"You bear-napped Bob!" I answered. His laugh warmed my soul.
"Bob is loving life. I'll send you a picture later. Are you in bed yet?" I could tell he was smiling.
"Kinda" I turned on speaker phone as I properly got ready for bed. Pulling off my clothes and replacing them with Harry's t-shirt.
"Are you wearing my t-shirt?"
"Yes" I grinned as I climbed into bed. "I'll need a new t-shirt on Sunday"
"You will? Why? What are you planning to do to the one I gave you?"
"You can have that one back because it won't smell of you anymore. I want one that you've wore on stage. Please!" I pouted, even although he couldn't see me.
"One horrid, sweaty t-shirt. Got it." He laughed.
"I wish you were here" I sighed.
"And what would we be doing?" I could picture the smirk on his face.
"I'm pretty sure you can work that out" I teased. I could hear voices in the background.
"Jessi, baby. I'm sorry I have to go. We're about to take off" He sighed.
"Ok. Fly safely. Let me know when you land" I smiled.
"I will. Night Baby!"
"Night Harry" He hung up the phone. I couldn't sleep now. My mind was going one hundred miles an hour and my heart ached. I dialled Lori's number and waited for her to answer.
"Hi, when did he leave?" She giggled.
"He just took off. How was your day?" I asked. I knew she'd be missing Niall.
"Typical lazy Sunday. I actually just finished speaking to Niall. I miss him. Apparently the guys have been getting a hard time because Harry is missing. Everyone has been asking them if they are breaking up. Oh and you're TMZ famous again. You're a mystery brunette. They have photos of you and Harry at the hotel and the restaurant. Terrible ones, you can't see your face and if Harry sees those pictures he'll probably punch that blonde bodyguard" She finally stopped for a breath.
"Why would he punch Matt?" I asked. Curious for her answer.
"I'm sure he wasn't but in one of the photos it looks like he's grabbing your ass as he carried you to the car." She laughed. I thought back to when he picked me up and it all happened so fast I wasn't exactly sure where his hands were but I was pretty sure he wasn't grabbing my ass.
"I don't think that one likes me very much. Mark seems friendlier" I replied.
"Mark is cool. All the fans love him. He's been with Harry from the beginning."
"Sometimes you scare me with the things you know, Lori" I laughed. "Has Niall invited you to Harry's party yet? I'm going to need so much help."
"Yeah. He did. What do you need help with?" she said, excitedly.
"For a start, what the hell do I get him?" I sighed.
"That's easy. Draw him a picture. Apparently he was super jealous of the picture you made for Zayn" She giggled.
"Seriously? That doesn't seem like much of a present" I replied.
"Trust me" She said.
"Always" I smiled.
"I better go. I have to finish off my assignment for tomorrow. Oh before I forget Zayn wanted your number so I gave it to Niall and he said he'd give it to Zayn. Is that okay?" She sounded tired.
"Yeah. That's okay. Lunch tomorrow?" I asked. I wondered what Zayn wanted.
"Yeah. I'll call you. See you tomorrow." And she was gone. I noticed I had a message on my phone. I smiled as I opened it up and saw a picture of Bob on a huge leather chair, a bottle of champagne beside him. He really was loving life. I giggled to myself as I turned out the light. I closed my eyes as the scent of Harry drifted from his t-shirt.

A/N
Hi,
So I decided to update since I reached over 100 views. Not hugely impressive I know but considering I wasn't sure anyone would even read my story I'm pretty happy.
I'll try to update more frequently.
Love,
