Sixty-One
Jessi
I sat on the edge of Gem's bed, gazing down at my phone. Dougie had sent another message.
"Hey, I think I might have the wrong number. I was looking for my friend Jessi. Sorry."
"You don't have the wrong number."
"It's me."
"You just surprised me that's all."
"In a good way?"
"I'm not sure. I liked the Love Actually quote."
"You did? I was watching it with my sister."
"Weird. I watched it yesterday too."
"Spooky. Do you also have pink nails because your sister got bored?"
"Pretty."
"Ooops. Sorry. I didn't mean to send that ;)"
"Yeah. I bet your finger slipped?"
"Damn. You got me all figured out :)"
"So dinner after the holidays? Maybe?"
"Mate date?"
"And we'll see how it goes?"
"OK. Deal."
"Jess, you ready?" Gem suddenly burst into the room and made me drop my phone. Before I could move she'd bent down and picked it up. "Jess? Are you dating?" She smiled, her eyes scanning my phone screen.
"It's not a date." I pouted, grabbing my phone back.
"Seems very flirty." She smirked.
"Oh, shut up!" I sighed and stuffed my phone back into my pocket. "Hey Gem?"
"Jessi, has a date! Jessi has a date!" She yelled, running down the stairs.
"It's not a date." I yelled, chasing after her. I almost tripped and fell in my hurry but I needed her to stop. I didn't want Harry to hear.
"You have a date? With who?" Anne's head snapped towards me when I made it to the bottom of the stairs, I could tell she was trying to hide a frown.
"Oh, my God! It's not a date." I said, exasperated.
"Who has a date?" Harry said, walking into the Living Room from the Kitchen.
"Jessi!" Gem blurted out and Anne nudged her.
"You have a date? Now? With who?" Harry's eyes burned into mine.
"Obviously not now and it's not a date." I sighed. Why was nobody listening to me?
"The hot McFly one!" Gemma laughed.
"Gemma!" Anne scolded her. Harry's eyes were still fixed on me.
"It's not a date. We're going for dinner after the holidays sometime. Just as friends." I shrugged, trying to brush it off. I didn't want Christmas to be awkward. I could kill Gemma right now.
"Date who you like. It has nothing to do with me." Harry scoffed and I admit my heart broke a little. Did he really not care? "So we going to the pub or what?" He glanced at me and Gemma before marching out the house.
"Come on, Jess!" Gemma shook her head and we walked after him, my short legs struggling to keep up.
-----
"Hey listen!" Harry said as we walked into the pub. His arm slid around my waist as he pulled me away from everyone else and I closed my eyes, wishing we could just keep on walking together like this.
"Yeah?" I asked. He'd barely said a word on the walk over and I felt my heart sink as he stopped in a quiet corner and removed his arm from my body.
"If you want to date Dougie, then I have no right to stop you. He's a good guy. But I can't promise you I'll be happy about it."
"It really is just dinner." I smiled as he stroked my arm. I'm not even sure he realised he was doing it.
"Come on, you guys." Jamie waved us over.
"Drink?" I smiled at Harry.
"Sure. I'll meet you over there." Harry smiled back, and I was glad things had settled again.
"Tequila with ice, the best one you have, a glass of white wine and a Rum and Coke, please?" I smiled at the bartender. Harry was laughing, his dimples on full show, his nose and eyes all scrunched up and I knew it didn't matter how many dates I went on, my heart would never belong to anyone but him.
"JESS!" Fred yelled when he saw me walking over.
"Hi Fred!" I giggled. How could he be drunk already? I said hello to everyone else before sitting down beside Gem, she was busy texting. It was probably Michal. I felt something wet splash my cheek and then when it happened again I heard giggling behind me. I turned around to see two girls, maybe a few years younger than me. Unsure of what they wanted I smiled. They scowled at me so I shrugged and turned my attention back to the table. They continued flicking me with water or whatever it was but I tried to ignore them.
"Oh, I wish I was Jessi's girl!" Fred sang at me before he sat himself down on my knee.
"Hi Fred!" I giggled. "You having a good time?"
"Yeah. It's Christmas!" He chuckled. "Who the fuck is flicking water on me?"
"Those girls behind us. I think my presence is offending them." I shrugged.
"So you just let them flick water on you?" He raised his eyebrows at me.
"I don't wanna fight." I shrugged again.
"Flick water over here again and I will pour an entire glass over your head, got it?" He spun around and yelled.
"Well, maybe she should just leave then?" One girl spoke up.
"Why? She's sitting here with her friend's, not bothering anyone." Harry replied, and I realised he was standing right beside Fred.
"Just leave it guys." I tried to get Harry to sit down.
"Why is she even here? She's not even your girlfriend anymore, is she?" Another girl replied.
"She's our friend, now fuck off!" Fred snapped.
"Couldn't agree more." Harry added.
"Whatever." The girls muttered, and I heard the scraping of chair legs on the floor.
"You okay?" Harry asked.
"She's fine. Go sit down." Fred pushed at Harry's hips to shoo him away.
"Thanks Fred." I smiled, leaning my head on his shoulder.
"Jess?" He hugged me tight.
"Yeah?" I giggled. He'd had way too much to drink.
"Hey Monroe! That one is mine!" Jamie smiled. "I will fight you for him!" I held my hands up in surrender waiting for everyone to catch on to what he'd just said but nobody batted an eyelid. Fred and Jamie had been secretly dating since Ed's party and I was the only person who knew.
"Come here, you big idiot!" Fred chuckled as he stood up and pulled Jamie towards him, their mouths effortlessly finding each other as if that was the only destination programmed in their GPS. I kicked Harry under the table and nodded towards the scene unfolding.
"Holy shit! Guys! When did this happen?" Harry jumped out of his seat and wrapped them up in a hug, not caring one bit that Jamie and Fred were still very much lost in each other.
"Did you know about this?" Harry grinned, letting them go.
"Yeah." I nodded and Harry plopped himself down beside me, his hip bumping mine. "Tell me everything."
I smiled as I told him all about what Fred told me at Ed's party and everything I knew until now.
-----
Harry
Tonight had been fun. It was nice to catch up with everyone. Gem had just left to go meet Michal but Jess had stayed. She was sitting with Jamie. I couldn't believe him and Fred had been dating all this time, and I didn't know. My girl knew though. She smiled at something he said and my heart started to race; she looked so pretty when she smiled.
"Dougie from McFly? He's hot." Jamie smiled. My heart sank at the mention of his name. I didn't want her to date him. I knew he could probably make her happy, but she was mine, she still felt like mine. I think she'd always feel like mine. There was something else niggling away at me too. He was in the spotlight, just like me, so was this whole paparazzi bullshit just an excuse? Maybe it was just an easy way out for her?
"Excuse me?" Fred glared at him.
"Sorry, not as hot as you, Fred." Jamie rolled his eyes.
"Obviously." Fred smirked. She's Kinda Hot by 5SOS came on the jukebox and Jess let out a little excited squeal.
"My girlfriend's bitchin' cause I always sleep in" She sang, and I replied with the next line. "Wanna dance?" She mouthed, and I nodded. My fingers gripped her bare skin as her bright yellow t-shirt with the outline of a heart on it bounced around her hips while we danced. I smiled as her hands gripped my biceps, her hair was floating around her shoulders as she jumped up and down, her body moving to the music with abandon and I couldn't take my eyes off her. I missed her so much.
"More drinks?" I asked as the song finished, I could feel my emotions threatening to bubble over.
"Yeah. We need to catch up with Fred!" Jess chuckled, her fingers clutching my arm as she skipped excitedly towards the bar.
"I don't think anyone is catching Fred." I smiled, but I didn't care about catching him, I was just hoping it could drown out my heart pounding for her.
-----
"Come on guys, get in the taxi!" Jamie yelled.
"Nah. We're good. We'll just take the shortcut across the field." I replied.
"Yeah, we'll be fine." Jess added, she was busy staring up at the stars.
"Fine, but if they find your bodies in the morning, I'm telling your Mum it's all your fault." Jamie chuckled as he closed the car window. I watched as the car drove off and then I turned to find Jess but she'd moved and I'd lost her in the darkness.
"Jess? Where are you?" I whispered, I don't know why I was whispering. I heard her giggle, but it sounded far away.
"Jess, wherever you are just stop. I need to make sure you are going in the right direction." No response. Great. "Jessi?" I listened for any noise but there was nothing. Just silence.
"BOO!" She suddenly yelled, jumping on my back, and it took all my strength not to reflex knock her to the ground.
"Jess, you scared the shit out of me!" All that did was cause her to laugh into the crook of my neck.
"It's not funny. I could have hurt you. I thought we were under attack." She wrapped her legs around me. I placed my hands under her knees and bounced her further up my back so it was more comfortable.
"You wouldn't hurt me, you're my Harry." Her breath tickled my neck as she spoke.
"I would if I thought you would hurt my Jessi!" I retorted.
"That doesn't even make sense. Come on. It's chilly out here!" She loosened her grip around me and I worried she would fall and then she smacked my arse. "Let's go, horsey!" She giggled.
"Alright, does Princess Jessi think she can hold this so I can see where we are going and don't fall into a ditch?" I sassed as I got out my phone and turned on the torch. She did a good job of holding the phone steady as I started walking.
"Your hair smells pretty." I heard her sniff loudly and I couldn't help but chuckle. "It smells like summer."
"Thank you. My new shampoo has coconuts in it." I left out that the reason I'd bought it was because it reminded me of her.
"I love coconuts. I like it here. It's so peaceful." She said completely changing the subject.
"I like it here too." I smiled as she rested her chin on my head.
"I used to imagine we'd have a house here when we had babies, somewhere close to your Mum and Robin." She whispered.
"You imagined us having babies?" I smiled.
"Yeah. Didn't you?" Her head peaked around the side of mine so she could look at me.
"Obviously. I just didn't know you had. How many babies did you think we'd have?" I asked.
"Two for sure but I'd like more than that. We'd have a girl first and then a little boy and they'd love each other as much as you and Gem do..." Her voice trailed off and I heard a little sob as she buried her head in the crook of my neck.
"Hey Jess, don't cry. It'll be okay." Her little imaginary scenario was exactly what I'd picture.
"It won't. We're not going to have that and when you have kids, they won't be mine and Robin won't even get to see them." She sobbed louder.
"Robin will see our babies Jessi, he'll be their Guardian Angel and whose babies am I going to have if not yours?"
"That would be nice. Robin watching over them. You really believe that? And I don't know whose babies you will have, probably some stunning supermodel or something. They'd probably be much prettier than any babies I could give you, anyway." She sighed.
"Hey, our babies would be perfect and the only way any baby would be prettier than ours is if they were all you because you are literally the prettiest thing in this entire universe!" She scoffed in response. I wished she could see herself through my eyes, just once, just so she would know how amazing she is.
"I like that you think Robin will watch over us." She tightened her arms around me.
"Robin will be with you, always." I smiled.
"Harry..."
"Yeah?" I asked, curious about what she wanted to know.
"I've been listening to Pink." That was the temporary name for my album and apart from the band she was the only other person who'd heard the entire thing.
"Do you like it?" I asked nervously, I hoped people would like it but whether Jess liked it mattered more than anyone else.
"Are you kidding? I love it. I've even grown to love the duck!" She giggled.
"That's me, with some sound effects over it." I chuckled.
"Shut up. You do not make noises like that!" She giggled louder as I opened the gate into Mum and Robin's back garden and closed it behind us.
"I'll take you to the studio and prove it to you if you like?" I smiled.
"OK. But I have another question?" She said as I unlocked the back door and crept inside, locking it again once we were inside.
"Fire away." I placed the keys on the counter.
"How come you wrote a song about Missy and you didn't write one about me?" She pouted. I let go of her knees and she dropped her feet down onto the floor. I spun around to look at her with a look of utter disbelief on my face. I grabbed the pen and a piece of paper from the notice board my Mum used to write her shopping lists.
"One, five, nine and ten." I said out loud as I wrote the numbers down on the paper. "All you." I tucked the piece of paper into her pocket. "Listen again."
"You wrote four songs about me? About us?" She blinked up at me.
"Baby, I wrote a lot more than four. Those are just the ones that made the album." I tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
"Look! Mistletoe!" I looked above us and sure enough we were standing underneath the mistletoe my Mum put up in the Kitchen every year.
"Well, aren't you supposed to kiss me?" She smiled as I looked down at her.
"You want me to kiss you?" I asked.
"Well, it is tradition." She smiled, standing on her tiptoes.
"Are you sure?" I cupped her cheek in my hand. I wasn't sure if I could stop with just a kiss. She nodded, so I gently pressed my lips to hers, our lips quickly melting into each other and moving as one. Her hands grabbed mine, and she placed my hands on her thighs, wanting me to pick her up. I did as she asked and her arms wrapped tightly around my neck. She ground against me, forcing a moan to vibrate across our lips. I sat her down on the counter, my hands clawing at her shirt. She pulled my hair, breaking the kiss between us.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled assuming she thought this was a bad idea.
"Shh..." She placed her finger to my lips. "Not here. Take me upstairs, please?" I barely had time to register what she said before she jumped off the counter and into my arms. I placed hungry kisses along her neck as I carried her upstairs, making sure we were quiet as we passed Mum and Robin's room. I closed the door to my room and Jessi jumped out of my arms, her hands immediately began tugging on my belt. Our lips crashed together again in a messy, hungry kiss. My hands slipping under her shirt and squeezing her breasts, causing a moan to leave her lips. Soon I was the one moaning as she palmed me through my boxers.
"Fuck!" I whispered, all too aware that Mum and Robin were only a room away. I sighed as Jess suddenly pulled away from me and then gasped as she dropped to her knees. She quickly shuffled my jeans down my thighs and freed my erection from my boxers.
"God! I've missed this." She groaned as she placed a kiss to my tip. I bit my lip between my teeth as she twirled her tongue around it and sucked it gently.
"Holy shit, Jess!" I exclaimed while she slid slowly down my length, taking in every inch of me. I flung my hand over my mouth as she slowly slid back towards my tip. She wasn't the only one who'd missed this. She repeated her action a little quicker this time, and I looked around for something to steady myself against but there was nothing, we were in the middle of my bedroom. Her hands cupped my balls and gently rubbed them together as she bobbed her head up and down even faster. I placed my hand on her head to steady myself and let out a series of muffled groans into my other hand.
"Baby, I'm close." I whispered, and she upped the pace, sucking harder. My legs felt like jelly and I moved my other hand to her head to stop myself from falling over. She flicked my tip with her tongue and I bit down hard on my lip as I came in her mouth. Once I'd recovered enough to move, I pulled her up off the floor and pushed her over towards my bed. She grinned at me as I quickly got rid of my socks, jeans and boxers.
"You look hot in just a shirt." She smirked.
"I seem to remember that you do too." I smirked, pushing her back on the bed and unbuttoning her jeans. I slid them slowly down her thighs and raised my eyebrows at her. She was wearing the red lacey underwear I was talking about on the plane.
"What?" She said, and I pinged the underwear against her skin in response.
"I told you I brought it." She giggled. She quickly quietened down as I pulled her to the edge of the bed. I kneeled down in front of her and placed kisses up the inside of her thigh.
"Harry?" She whined as I moved to her other thigh. Her skin was perfectly soft on my lips, her hips bucked towards me as my nose brushed her pants.
"Patience, Baby." I smirked, holding her hips down as I pulled her pants off with my teeth. I licked up her centre and pressed my thumb to her clit causing a muffled groan to leave her lips and I glanced up to see she had her face buried in my pillow. I rubbed circles against her clit as I pushed my tongue inside her, she tasted even better than I remembered. So sweet. I hungrily explored every inch of her. Her muffled groans the only sound in the room.
"So pretty." I mumbled as I replaced my thumb with my mouth, sucking on her clit. Her hips buck towards me again as she let out a louder moan.
"Fuck, Harry! I'm so close." She whimpered. I pushed my tongue back inside her, my thumb moving back to rub her clit in those diagonal strokes that she loved so much as I twirled my tongue. Her body shook beneath me as she reached her high, her walls contracting around my tongue. I pulled out of her and licked my lips, my dick was rock hard again.
She tugged on my hair as she shuffled up my bed and climbed under the covers. I stood up and walked to the top. I unbuttoned my shirt, and Jessi smirked as she spotted my erection.
"Sit." She instructed as she pulled off her top. I climbed into the bed, my back resting against the headboard. "Best Christmas present ever." She whispered in my ear as she straddled me. "I couldn't agree more." I smirked as I unhooked her bra, once it was on the floor I gave her boobs a squeeze before running my thumbs over her hard nipples. I groaned into her shoulder as she slid down onto me. She rocked her hips into me slowly.
"Baby, you're so beautiful." I murmured, my hand cupping her cheek as I kissed her, my tongue pushing into her mouth as she rolled her hips harder. My free hand moved to her arse, squeezing it in the palm of my hand. Her thrusts were becoming lazy and I could tell she was tired.
"Stop." I whispered, and she did as I asked rather abruptly.
"Is something wrong?" I could hear the panic in her voice.
"No, nothing is wrong." I held her tight and shuffled down the bed until I could flip us over so she was now underneath me.
"But -"
"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked, her body had completely tensed up.
"W-why did you? W-was it bad?" She looked like she was about to cry.
"Jess, no!" I exclaimed. "You're tired. I just wanted to help." I brushed her hair away from her face. "I'm sorry, Baby." I felt awful.
"You mean it?" She pouted.
"I promise." I drew a cross on my heart.
"K." She still looked kind of dubious but she pulled my head down and kissed me and bucked her hips into mine to get me to move. I moved slowly, guilt clouding every move I made. Jess was as far from bad in bed as it's possible to get and I didn't want to make her think otherwise. Why am I such an idiot?
"Harry?" Her voice pulled me from my thoughts.
"Yeah?"
"Please... fuck me!" She whined snapping me out of my mood. I picked up the pace and placed kisses along her shoulder and up to her neck, enjoying her moans as I reached her sweet spot. She wrapped her legs around me, pulling me deeper inside her.
"I love you so much, baby girl." I grunted.
"I love you too." She panted, pulling me down so she could kiss me again. I changed angles and she let out a moan against my lips, her breathing was becoming more ragged as I thrust harder.
"I-I'm close, Ha-rry" She panted, spurring me on. I was close too. A few more thrusts and we both came together, both biting our lips so as not to yell out. I pulled out of her and lay down in the bed.
"Can I be the big spoon?" I asked once I'd caught my breath. She just smiled as a response and I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close. I missed having somebody to hold, well more accurately I missed having Jessi to hold.
It didn't take long for her to drift off to sleep, mumbling goodnight as she did so.
"Please let me keep you forever?" I whispered into her ear as I felt my own eyes slowly close.
Jessi
I woke up in Harry's arms. It had been a long time since I woke up feeling like I was where I belonged. I glanced at the clock on the bedside table. Shit! It was 5am. I better get back to Gemma's room before somebody finds me here. I didn't want there to be tonnes of awkward questions before me and Harry had even talked about it.
I put on my underwear and grabbed an old t-shirt of Harry's and flung it on, gathering up my own clothes in my arms and heading across the hallway to Gemma's room. I quietly closed Harry's door behind me and turned to find Robin staring back at me.
"Coffee?" He asked as my cheeks turned bright red.
"Sure." I nodded. I opened Gemma's room door and flung my clothes inside and closed it again before following Robin downstairs.
"Don't worry. I won't tell." Robin smiled as he busied himself making the coffee.
"Thank you." I smiled.
"One black coffee." Robin chuckled sitting the mug down in front of me.
"Robin, what should I do?" I sighed.
"About Harry?" He sat himself down across from me. I nodded. "I don't know, Love. Clearly, you two still have feelings for each other, I mean anyone can see that-"
"I love him." I interrupted.
"I know. Can I ask you something?" His hand squeezed my arm.
"Yeah?" I nodded.
"Do you regret breaking up with him?" He asked.
"Every damn second since the words left my lips." I replied honestly. I'd spent months trying to convince myself that I was right to do it. That one day it would all be okay but I wasn't so sure that it would ever be okay without him.
"What about your reasons for doing it? Do you think they are still valid concerns?" Robin questioned.
"I don't know. I - probably not - yes - maybe?" I held my head in my hands. I think I could handle the whole press thing better now but what if I was wrong? It was also a lot less intense now he wasn't with the band anymore.
"Jessi? Have you thought about seeing a therapist?"
"Why? Do you think I'm going crazy?" I asked, sipping my coffee. Maybe I was going crazy? It would explain a lot.
"No. Not unless you think I'm crazy?" He winked.
"You're seeing a therapist?"
"For a few months now. She really helps. I like having somebody I can be completely honest with but they can help with all sorts of things, Jess." Robin smiled. "I really think it could help you."
"I'll look into it." I promised. Although, it didn't seem to do my Mum any good. "But what do I do about Harry, now?"
"Well, I reckon you have to tell him how you feel. Tell him you made a mistake and you want him back and see how he feels?" Robin smiled.
"Robin?" I looked up at him.
"Yeah?"
"What if he says no? What if he doesn't want me back?" The very thought of it terrified me.
"I have a feeling he won't." Robin smirked. "But if he does then at least you'll know and you can try to move on properly, yeah? Be brave Jessi and you might just get everything you've ever wanted."
"What would I do without you?" I blurted out, and I mentally cursed myself.
"I'm not going anywhere for a while yet." He forced a smile, and I felt a tear slide down my cheek.
"Hey, hey, none of that!" He said, walking around the table and hugging me tight. "I'll write a book, Robin's Guide to Life and if Harry turns you down you can beat him over the head with it!" Robin chuckled and a laugh burst from my lips.
"Love you." I chuckled.
"I love you too, Short Stuff." He squeezed me tight before letting me go. I headed upstairs to try to sleep more before everyone woke up. I crept into Gem's room before remembering she wasn't here, she was with Michal. I climbed into the blow up bed Anne had set up on the floor for me and I closed my eyes. I quickly realised this was no use. There was no way my mind would let me sleep now, not when I had decided to try and get Harry back. I flung the covers off and headed to Harry's room, I swung open his door but he wasn't in bed where I left him.
Harry
I woke up in bed, feeling chilly. I stretched out my arm to pull Jess back towards me but I caught air and fell out the bed. I opened my eyes and my heart sank as I realised she wasn't here. I thought this time was different, but she'd just snuck off and no doubt I'd have to pretend like nothing happened. I pulled on my boxers and headed to the shower.
I thumped the shower on and just stood there; the water beating down on me. Why didn't she want me? Why did she always leave? I felt like leaving right now. I couldn't be around her. She was everything I wanted, and I didn't have the strength to pretend everything was fine. I roughly washed my body and dug my knuckles into my head as I washed my hair. I felt like I'd been beat up. I was exhausted. I shut off the shower and grabbed a towel. I quickly wrapped it around me and decided to call Niall when I got back to my room. Hopefully ranting to him would help me calm down before I had to see her at breakfast.
I left the bathroom and realised my bedroom door was open; I walked to the doorway and my heart stopped. Part of me wanted to scream at her and part of me wanted to just wrap my arms around her.
"Everything alright?" I asked. She spun around and she wouldn't look at me. She seemed miles away.
"Jess? You good?" I bumped into her as I walked past her to get to my drawers.
"Yeah, can I talk to you for a second?" She said so quietly I barely heard her.
"If you must." I snapped at her. I didn't need to hear her say it was a mistake.
"Harry, I just want to say -"
"Look if this is about last night, then it's fine." I shrugged, trying to hide the fact that this was killing me.
"It is?" She sounded surprised.
"Yeah. It was a mistake. It should never have happened. How about we just forget all about it, yeah?" I sighed. I wanted to say anything else. It wasn't a mistake, I wanted it with all of my heart.
"I - I - Harry -" She looked at the ground.
"Seriously, Jess it's fine." I said to try to make her feel better, but I needed her to leave. I turned her around and gently nudged her out the room, closing the door behind her. I walked over to the chest of drawers and gripped the edge, trying not to yell out in frustration.
-----
"Where is Jessi?" My Mum asked.
"She was still sleeping when I went upstairs." Gemma answered.
"Harry, go wake her. She must be hungry?" My Mum asked.
"Get Gem to do it." I whined and Robin gave me a weird look.
"Harry!" My Mum said. I huffed as I got up and thudded up the stairs.
"Jess!" I yelled as I reached the top but she didn't answer. "Jessi, you awake?" I knocked on Gem's bedroom door.
"Yeah." She replied, but she sounded weird.
"Can I come in?" I asked.
"Yeah." She mumbled. I opened the door and smiled as I saw her in her skinny jeans and her Christmas jumper but I froze when my eyes met hers. I could immediately tell she'd been crying. Before I could even think about it I'd closed the distance between us and wrapped my arms around her.
"Jessi, what's wrong?" I stroked her hair as I held her to my chest.
"Nothing." She lied.
"Jessi? Come on, you can talk to me." I squeezed her tighter.
"I don't know. I think I'm just feeling a little down. I'll be okay." She sighed, relaxing into my arms. I pulled her into the en suite bathroom and sat her down on the toilet as I got a cloth and soaked it under the cold tap. She flinched as I pressed it gently against her cheek, trying to calm the puffiness from her eyes.
"I'm sorry." Jess mumbled.
"What are you sorry for? You have nothing to be sorry about." I forced a smile, I didn't want her to be upset and despite what happened this morning I still didn't regret last night.
"I don't want Christmas to be ruined." Her voice was so quiet I barely heard her.
"Look, is this about last night? I already told you, it's fine. Just forget it ever happened." Right now I'd say anything to make her feel better.
"I can't." Her puffy chocolate brown eyes gazed up at me.
"Just fake it til you make it, Baby." I forced a smile. It was selfish of me to keep doing this to her, I knew it was but I just couldn't resist her. Every day my heart ached for her.
"Come on guys, everyone's waiting to do presents." Gemma's voice pierced the silence in the bathroom. And without any warning Jess stood up and hurried out of the room, leaving me to clamber after her.
Jessi
"Morning Love, you okay?" Anne said as I reached the bottom of the stairs with Gemma. Harry thudding down the stairs behind us. I nodded. I felt like my voice was stuck in my throat.
"You missing your Mum?" She whispered, pulling me into a hug and then pulling me over to sit beside her. She'd sorted everyone's presents into little piles. My eyes were immediately drawn to the present from Harry. I decided to leave it until last. I quickly glanced at Harry. He was holding one of the presents I'd bought him in his hand.
"Oh, thank you, Jess! I love it!" Anne flung her arms around me. I'd drew her a picture of her, Robin, Harry and Gemma and there was also a photo of her and Robin from when they were in New York for Lori and Niall's engagement party that I'd bought a silver frame for. I'd bought Robin tickets to go on a helicopter ride, it was something he'd always wanted to do.
"You're welcome." I hugged Anne back.
"Thanks Sissy." Gemma nudged me and I turned to see her holding up the Swarovski necklace she'd had her eye on for months.
"Thanks to you, too" I smiled as I opened the present she'd bought me, it was a pale pink Marc Jacobs dress. They didn't make it anymore, so I had no idea how she'd found it.
"This is wicked. I needed a new journal, and this pen is insane." Harry smiled at me, twirling the pen between his long fingers. It was a limited edition gold Cross pen. I smiled at him before going back to the present Anne and Robin had bought me. It was a pair of Alexander McQueen shoes which matched the dress Gem had given me, perfectly. I crawled towards them and gave them both a hug.
"Now you just need an occasion to wear them." Anne smiled.
"How about on your date with McFly guy?" Gemma giggled, nudging my foot with hers. I thought I saw Harry give her a look but when I looked over at him he was looking at the floor.
"It's not a date and I don't even know where we are going." I corrected her. I sat back down to open Harry's present and my heart began to race as I peeled off the paper, it was a gorgeous wooden jewellery box, a small one to sit on my bedside table. I didn't like to sleep with my jewellery on and had lost several earrings from just dumping them beside my bed. It had my name engraved on it and a heart.
"Wow, Harry! This is beautiful. Thank-you." I was sure my mouth was hanging open.
"Uhm. Ditto. I love these." Harry smiled, holding up the YSL boots I'd bought him. "You should open that up, by the way." He smirked. I did as he said and now I knew for sure my mouth was hanging open. Inside was a silver necklace with the outline of a peony on it, it was so pretty.
"Harry I love it. Thank you so much." I stood up and walked over to hug him. I instantly felt relaxed as he held me tight. Why couldn't I just rewind the clock and make everything fine between us again?
