Sonic Unleashed rant
Warning: this is pretty random, stream-of-consciousness writing. I apologize.
As you probably know, I've been getting into Sonic games recently. Naydra's been obsessed with them for a long time, but I kinda shook my head and didn't bother learning more about them. After all, from my perspective, it's a game about running fast. No character developments, no complex plotline, none of the stuff I love to look for in games. That is, until I saw Naydra playing Sonic Unleashed one night.
Naydra was playing one of the bosses (and failing - sorry, Naydra), and I sat down to do my own thing, watching idly as Naydra fell off the cliff again and again. Eventually, I was completely immersed as I watched the attempts to beat the boss. When Naydra finally succeeded, a cutscene followed that overturned my previous beliefs about Sonic.
For those of you who have played the game, it was the second to last temple, where Chip gets some serious character development. I won't spoil it for anyone, but it was pretty shocking. The next thing I knew, Naydra was teaching me the controls as I sped around Apotos, nailing every wall at top speed. It was pretty amusing to watch me fail. XD
Later on, Naydra showed me the opening cutscene. I'd seen bits and pieces of it before, but never realized how cool it was. I was hooked on the game and asked if I could play through it. I got my own save file and started playing the levels, amazed by how well done the characters and areas were. I really wanna go live in Apotos now :))))))))))
I LOVE the transformation cutscenes when Sonic turns into the Werehog, by the way. It's so well done and gives me chills every time. And can someone please give Professor Pickle a decent sandwich for once so he'll shut up about them XD
Currently, I'm standing before Eggmanland, working up the courage to go and face the final boss after five insanely long Werehog levels. I've had a few locations that really were good to me (Holoska, Shamar) and one that I hate beyond all human reason (Chun-nan), but honestly, the whole experience has been amazing.
Unpopular opinion, as well: I actually like the Werehog levels a lot better than the Speedy Boi levels. I am horrible at the daytime stages (read: giving Sonic a concussion by accidentally boosting into a brick wall) and the nighttime ones just have an exploration feel to them. Plus, it's funny for Naydra to watch me panic when the battle theme starts out of the blue. (Also, those FREAKING BEE ENEMIES D:) Holoska and Shamar's nighttime levels were all S ranks on my first try, while I completely failed their daytime levels. (I told you they'd been good to me!) I like the style and music in the nighttime a lot better. Please no kill meh D:
Anyway, that's all I can think of to rant about for now! Chip is heckin' adorable and I want to give him lots of Chocolate Chip Sundae Supremes :DD
Thank you for reading my really boring rant that no one cares about! :D
