Chapter 9

Stargaze pet my shoulder with his paw. "It will be okay" he assured.
"You do know that's a human?" Pale-Moon asked. "I'm owned." I said.
Most cats would cry if they felt how I felt, but I never cry. Ever.
"You mean, your a pet-cat!?" Pale-Moon gasped. "Pet-cat? Yeah...I'm a pet-cat..." I sighed. "You will find her. Your a strong she-cat" Stargaze said. I turned to the two cats, that who knows why they're following me.
"She-cat?" I raised a brow.
"Female, she, she-cat-" Stargaze started. "Girl?"
The two gasped. "Girl?! Humans are girls, cats are she-cats, females, she's!" Pale-Moon said, shocked.
"What did these humans teach you? You don't even know basic cat language!" Pale-Moon said.
"At least I can still understand you." I shrugged. The two exchanged a look, as I walked past them.

I walked down the bridge, and there they were again, following me.
I turned around. "Why are you following me?" I hissed.
They shuffled around nervously.
"Come on, spit it out!" I hissed.
"Well...Pale-Moon once adopted a white kitten...and she...well...we can't find her... We haven't seen her in years...and you are about the age she would be by now...so you just reminded us of her... And we couldn't leave you on your own in this dangerous world..." Stargaze said nervously. Why!? Now I can't say anything! Now if I even open my mouth I will feel guilty!

I sighed. "I'm sorry about your kitten. But I'm fine. I can take care of myself." I said. I could see both there minds working for something to make me change my mind. They looked at there paws. I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Look-" I began.
"What if we help you find Ava?" Pale-Moon asked. "You don't even know where she's going." I pointed out.

"Tell us. What's her number?" Stargaze looked up at me.
"Her phone number?" I asked, glad they knew some human language.
"Foam? No. Her house number." Pale-Moon said, looking up too.
"Her house phone number?" I asked, emphasizing 'phone' so they know it's not 'foam'.

"House foam? No. Her house number! The number on that white plate on the front of the house!" Pale-Moon said. "Her address?" I asked unsure.
The two exchanged a look of a few things, it seemed one of them was concern for my mental health. Why you say? Because those too whisper very loudly. I rolled my eyes as they whispered. "I can hear you." I sighed. They looked up and shuffled around.

"Okay, why her address number?" I asked. "We travel around, and in winter when there's not much food, we visit the towns and cities to collect some food." Stargaze said.
"You steal?"
"What? No! We eat from those silver cylinder stuff, that stinks like bear breath" Pale-Moon said.
"The bin?" I asked. They looked at me questionably. "Garbage, bin, trash, trash can?" I said. They didn't respond. "You eat from the trash!?" I said I'd disgust. I would have barfed if that wasn't also disgusting.

"I know, it's gross, and it's stray cats food, but when your desperate, you have to do what has to be done. Real food is way better!" Stargaze said.
I nodded, thinking of a slice of salmon, and a bowl of creamy milk.
I snapped out of it. "Okay come on! We don't have all six of our lives to waste!" I hissed. "Six?"
"I already used up three." I said.
"You poor thing." Pale-Moon said.
Her eyes were full of pity. I wondered if she really believed in nine lives? There forest cats after all. There not as intelligent as owned cats, there like animals, hunting, fishing...wait...I am an animal...

"Alright, what's her number?" Stargaze asked. I tried to remember when she was looking through the photos of the house, what the number was.
I closed my eyes and thought hard about it. "121A" I said, opening my eyes again. "121A, 121A, 121A." Stargaze repeated. "That's not far! Maybe a weeks walk?" Stargaze finally said. And that moment, I lost my sixth life. "A WEEK!? Are you pulling my leg? A week? That's seven days you know? Seven days non stop walking?! I will die! I will only have four lives!" I yelled. The two exchanged a look like 'kids these days'.  "A week, is only seven days, that's only 10080 minutes, and only 604800 seconds." Stargaze said.
"That's a lot of seconds." I said, wide eyed, and mouth dangling.

"Come on lazy chick, we need to go through forest to get to 121A. And I'm guessing you want to get that over and done with." Stargaze said.
Forest... Bears...deer's...tigers... Thorns...poisonous mushrooms and berries...wild dogs...wild cats...wild...animals...
