Chapter 1
I have been living with Ava Jones for some time now. I'm eight months old, and I can't even remember my old life. Did I have a family? I know I did, but who were they? Was my name always Jinny?
I lay on Ava's silver apple laptop, as she tried to dodge me while typing.
"Hey Kitty Fluffpaws!" She roughly pet my head. Just how I like it.
She tapped her crosser legs, so I can sit there. But I couldn't do that. My favorite thing about the weekdays, is sitting on Ava's laptop and books. What's more enjoyable?
"Hey, get off the girls laptop" Marsh called. Marsh is short for Marshmallow. Ava named him that, but I just shortened it. It would seem strange to call him Marshmallow.
Marsh is a Basset Hound, with deep green eyes. Ava got him not long before me I'd say. "It's cozy" I said simply, barely lifting my head to look at him. "Oh, that's it" he said in his lazy, old man sounding voice.
He jumped onto Ava's bed, and pulled one of the two pink ribbons that sat on my head, just beside me ears.
"Hey, stop it! Leave my ribbons! You will filthy my beautiful white fur with your horrible dog drool!" I hissed.
"Marshy! Come here boy!" Ava said in a babyish voice, as she picked up Marsh, and lay back on her pillow.
"Hey boy! Hey boy!" She repeated.
I stretched and licked my paw, and wiped my ribbons. I repeated this until my precious ribbons were clean.
I jumped off the bed and walked around in circles, meowing.
"It's food time Ava! Got anymore salmon's?" I asked. Ava dropped Marsh on the bed and hung her head off it. "PSH, PSH , PSH " she called me. I walked to her hands and sniffed them to check if she had any biscuits hidden in there. She picked me up, and lifted me to her face.
"You hungry? You hungry?" She said in a babyish voice. "Yes I am!" I meowed. She kissed my fluffy forehead, then lay me on the floor.
"Let's go" she said to me and Marsh as she walked downstairs.
The only problem about food time, is, well...the parents. They weren't big animal people, and they didn't want me and Marsh to be around them. They had strict rules about animals too.
"Oh God, Ava clean your clothes! As a lady you shouldn't be full of cat fur!" Ava's mother hissed. Ava rolled her eyes. "It's just a bit of fur!" She replied, not stopping as me and Marsh followed close to her.
"You're disgusting!" Her mother hissed again. "After you're done, leave them outside to do their business" her father ordered as she grabbed the food can from the fridge.
I meowed and with a paw, slid the salmon packet out of the fridge, and onto the floor. "They are toilet trained dad" Ava said in a 'obviously' tone.
"You never know with these animals. They could decide the bed looks like a good stop." Her father said.
Ava rolled her eyes, knowing there was no point in carrying on the argument. She picked up the salmon from the floor, and returned the can to the fridge. "After you're done feeding your animals, be sure to scrub the whole fridge from that monster's paw. And don't put the salmon back in, the cats touched it now" her mother blabbered on.
Ava ignored her parents and stepped outside, and piled up our plates with salmon. She didn't go easy on the food. That's why I love Ava so much.
Plus, living in such a kind of rich family, it's not as important not to waste all the food on me and Marsh.
I ate the salmon, the delicious fishy flavor filling my mouth.
Ava sat on a wooden chair, and ate the salmon slices, knowing they couldn't be returned to the fridge.
Marsh stared down at his bowl.
Through a mouth full of salmon, I managed to say, "what's up? Don't like salmon?" I asked. Marsh sniffed the bowl, then looked thoughtfully at the salmon. "Something smells fishy about it" he said, then laughed and buried his face in the food, eating mouth fulls at a time. I laughed and continued my food. "Who doesn't like salmon?" He laughed. "Me" a crow chirped from the fence. Me and and Marsh looked at the crow like he had committed a sin worse than any other.
