Shopping Mall Murder
"I can't believe that you woke me up and kidnapped me to bring me to a simpleton commoner's mall!" Ciel shouts at the host club. "Why didn't you stop them?!"
This morning on a Saturday, the host club decided to come over and kidnap Ciel to take him to a commoner's mall. I had no objections, so I let them through. Ciel was sleeping at the time they came, so I told them to wait while I quickly put on his clothes as he was still asleep, meaning all I really wanted to do was put on his eye patch. I did it quickly, so he didn't even notice me change him. Then I let the hosts in, to wake and kidnap him. Right now, we're in one of Ootori's families limos on the way to the mall.
"You never asked me to help you. You only yelled at the twins to put you down," I admit with a smirk.
"You think you're so clever, don't you?" Ciel growls at me.
"I'd like to think so."
"Are things always like this between you two?" Haruhi asks.
"Yes," Alois answers for Ciel. "That's how they work."
"That's a very interesting servant-master relationship," Kyoya says.
"You know... Now that I think about it..." Tamaki says.
"Uh oh, he's thinking," Haruhi says.
"That's how everything gets messed up," the twins say. "The world will end with his thinking."
Tamaki pouts but continues. "Now that we know that you aren't related it could mean that you have a romantic relationship together."
"WHAT?!" Ciel and I shout.
"That's right," Alois teases and giggles. "They could."
"A forbidden relationship between a master and his servant! Oh, it sounds like a beautiful romance story!" Tamaki exclaims and goes off into his imagination land.
"Absolutely not!" Ciel yells, face flushed.
"Then why is your face all flushed?" the twins tease.
I ignore them and look out the window to see a big crowd formed up ahead. Curiosity gets the best of me and I listen in with my super hearing.
"A murder?!"
"Another with sliced legs?"
I sigh. "It seems we won't be going to the mall today," I say.
Everyone looks at me confused.
"Why's that?" Honey asks.
"It seems that another murder has happened," I say in Latin.
"Are you serious?" Ciel asks.
"Are you kidding?" Alois asks.
A while ago, Ciel told me to erase the memories of the hosts seeing us at the murder scene. They don't need to know why we're here. If they get hurt because of us, we will be held responsible. The only thing that they truly know about us is that Ciel and I aren't actually related among a few other things. One being that time I beat the shit out of Ootori. I also got rid of all the info Kyoya had about us which wasn't much.
"Control the driver to take us to a different mall," Ciel says back in Latin. "Send Sebastian a message to come and investigate the crime scene. After we get to the new mall, I want you to also go to the crime scene. I'll stay here with Finny to watch over me."
"Yes, my lord," I say and control the driver to take us to another mall.
"Hey, where are we going?!" Tamaki fusses to the driver over the communication comm.
"We're going to a different mall. This one seems to have a large amount of reporters surrounding the area," the chauffeur responds even though it's really me through the driver's voice.
"Oh, okay. That does sound like it'd be best," Tamaki says and sits back in his seat.
{Finny.}
I see Finny jump in surprise from hearing my voice randomly and he turns toward me. {Uhh... Yes?} He questions as if he didn't know if him answering back like that that I was capable of hearing him.
{Once we get to the new mall you will protect Ciel. That mall we left was because another murder happened there and I'm going to investigate with Sebastian.}
{Yes, Miss Zandra!}
I sigh then send my signal out to reach my father. {Daddy crow?}
{Yes, baby kitten?}
{Ciel wants you to investigate the mall that just had a murder happen. It's the mall where we were heading to. I'll join you soon.}
{I'm already on the way. I heard when Ciel commanded it.}
"Is he going?" Ciel asks.
I nod. "Yes, my lord."
"So, are we all sneaking away?" Alois asks in Latin.
"Are you guys speaking in Latin?" Haruhi asks.
"Yes," I answer.
"Zandra and Sebastian are going to investigate the crime scene," Ciel says. "So, no."
Alois sighs. "Fine. I'll stay because I don't feel like investigating right now, and I also want to see a commoners mall in this age."
"In this age? You're making yourself sound like an old man," Ciel says.
"How long do you plan on speaking in Latin?" the twins complain.
"Sorry, we just now finished," Alois says.
"Why do you guys always speak in a different language around us?" Haruhi asks.
"Yeah, what are you hiding?" Kyoya asks.
"If you knew you'd have nightmares for the rest of your miserable life," Ciel says.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Tamaki asks.
"It means if you knew we'd have to kill you," I say.
The twins chuckle. "Seriously?"
"Yes," Alois says.
Everyone takes a large gulp. A while later we arrive at the new mall.
"Master Kyoya, we have arrived at the destination," the chauffeur says. The chauffeur comes around and opens the door for us.
"Leave us," Ciel says in Latin to me.
"Yes, my lord."
We enter the commoner's mall, and I sneak back before anyone notices me. I disappear from human vision and reappear in front of the previous mall.
"Baby kitten."
I turn towards my father and meet up with him. "Daddy crow. You wait long?"
"I arrived the same time you did," he replies.
"That's a lie," I tease. "You've been here for a while."
"I was just being polite and for you not to worry."
"Don't worry I wasn't worried. I'm worried about the mansion being left without your supervision."
"I tied them up," he replies.
"That's good. All five?"
"Tanaka and Snake aren't."
"Okay, I'm fine with that."
We walk up to the scene and are blocked.
"Sorry, no entry beyond this point," the cop says.
I sigh as father pulls out the letter. "We are servants of the Phantomhive household and have been requested by our master to get information while he is currently busy with something else," father says.
"This is the prime minister's seal! Yes, go right on in," he says and ushers us in.
We're led into the mall to one of the many intersections. There we see a man surrounded by a large pool of blood that is gliding over the tiles underneath him.
"Sebastian and Zandra," a voice rings out once we step closer to the crime scene.
"Abberline," father says. "What a surprise to see you here."
"I'm working on this case too. Didn't Ciel tell you? Where is he anyway?"
"Currently busy with after school activities," I say. "So, what's the deal with this one?"
"Have you identified him yet?" father asks.
"Yes, he's one of the store owners in the mall," Abberline says. "His name is Daisuke Renko. This is the third guy the next victim will be a woman."
"That is if he or she continues his or her pattern," father says.
"Could we have a moment alone to investigate?" I ask.
"Sure, you guys are the best," Abberline says and gets everyone out of the area for us.
"I don't sense any supernatural beings being here besides a reaper, but that's normal," I say.
"I sense many people," father says. "It's hard to pinpoint who did this when so many different people's senses are all over."
"Yeah," I agree. "One of the many problems with being in a social place."
"We need to check the cameras," father says, spotting a few cameras nearby. "Then ask witnesses."
"You go find the security room and I'll go around to ask witnesses," I say.
We depart and I head straight to where Abberline is standing.
"Zandra? Did you guys find anything?" he asks.
"Sebastian is checking the cameras right now. Do you have any witnesses?" I ask.
"We have a few and questioned them myself, but none of them had any good info. They couldn't give any distinct features of the men that attacked."
"So it's more than one..." I look to the left of me to see a small store with walls to have some privacy. "I'll be in that store. Bring the witnesses to me."
"All at once?"
"All at once." I walk into the store and sit down on one of the shelves for clothes, waiting for Abberline to bring the witnesses.
"Zandra? I've brought them. Where are you?" Abberline's voice rings out into the store.
"I'm over here," I say and give away my place.
He walks over with three people traveling behind him. "These are the witnesses."
"Thank you. Leave us," I say and Abberline hesitantly nods and leaves the room. "Sit."
The three men sit and look at me wearily.
"We already said we didn't know much," the brunet haired man says.
I notice the clothes on each of them. They all have on uniforms. "Do you all work the security here?"
"Yes," the blond says. "We work the night shifts."
"Tell me from the beginning," I command and link my mind with all of their's as they think of the memory.
"Well, Noboru knows what happened better than us. He found what went down," the brunet says, pointing to the last man that hasn't spoken yet with black hair.
Noboru sighs and massages his temples. "Well, I was going to make my rounds around the mall to make sure everyone was out before we locked up."
"Yes," I say, confirming I'm following. I see his memory play through my head as he thinks about it.
"I heard loud noises and shouting. I knew that it wasn't these two because I just left them back in the security room, so I decided to pull out my gun and investigate. Up ahead were five big guys with masks, surrounding that man. I shouted at them and they ran past me rather quickly, leaving the dead store owner there. I began shooting at them and managed to get one in the shoulder. They began shooting back, so I quickly had to duck behind something. When I turned back to shoot, they were gone."
"You didn't call these two for back-up? That was stupid," I say.
"Well, I didn't really have any time to do that in the middle of a shooting!" he shouts.
"Yeah, you should've done it before you shouted at them," I say. "What kind of security guard are you?"
"Well excuse me for not being used to getting shot at!"
"You wouldn't have been shot at if you didn't yell at them. You could've taken them out before that. You saw the store owner dead, didn't you? You should've shot them before yelling," I explain.
He was silently fuming. "You..."
"Well, what happened next?" I ask.
"Well, he contacted us right after they disappeared to see if we can catch them on one of the cameras," the blond says.
"We also called 119," the brunet says.
"Then everyone came and told us to wait for questioning," the blond says.
"Did you know the name of the store owner?" I ask.
They all shake their heads no.
"We didn't."
"Did you see any distinct features of the men?" I ask Noboru.
I see as he thinks of the memories and mentally pause the memory to zoom in or out to see everything that he saw but didn't pay attention to.
"When you shot that one man, did you see if any blood was spilled?"
"No. I was too busy trying not to die."
"All right, you may go. I have all the info I need," I say and leap off the shelf. I leave the room and leave to find the security room. "Dad?"
"I'm here."
"Did you find anything useful?" I ask.
"Nothing really. The cameras aren't that great to see anything useful," father says. "Did you find anything?"
"I have to investigate the scene before I confirm it as useful," I say. "The man who found them shot and hit one of the men."
"The blood," father says, catching on.
"Exactly. He might've dripped somewhere," I say.
"They drove off in a black van with no license plate."
"Well, he might've dripped along the way. Let's go investigate to find any blood."
We leave and carefully search for anything useful. A hair, piece of clothing, or some blood, anything would be useful. We find a speck of blood around the place he was shot. We give it to the police and tell us when they find out who it is.
"It's about noon," father says, looking at his phone. "You should get back to bocchan before anyone notices."
I nod my head and quickly leave to the other mall with the host club.
{Finny, where are you?}
{Miss Zandra!? Is that you?}
{Yes, who else would it be? Where are you?}
{Umm... We're in a store called... Venus...}
{Okay, I'll be there soon.} I dash around the mall until I eventually find this place and slip in next to Finny. "Any problems so far?"
"Not that I know," Finny responds.
"And where have you been?" Kyoya asks upon seeing me.
"Don't worry about it," I respond. "But, if you want a hint I'll tell you."
"What?"
"I was away at a place that's..." I whisper into his ear then yell. "...away from you!"
He quickly moves away from me and covers his ear. He clicks his tongue and rolls his eyes. "Real mature."
"You should be used to me not giving you answers by now. Should I throw you against the wall again?"
He quickly shakes his head no and puts a distance between us by moving closer to Tamaki.
"What'd you find?" Ciel asks in Latin, moving next to me.
"The next victim will likely be a woman. We found some blood and took it to the police. They should tell us who it is once they figure out who the blood belongs to. There were five men that had attacked him. The victim was a store owner in the mall. His name was Daisuke Renko. Sebastian is finding more info right now."
"Did you see what the men looked like?"
"They had masks on, but I remember their body shapes and one had a star tattoo on his right wrist."
"This is really annoying," Ciel grumbles.
"Five guys? That's a lot more than usual," Alois adds in Latin.
"They're being cautious," Ciel points out.
"Since Sebastian killed that one guy, correct?" Alois says.
"That's what I think too," I say.
"Hey, you're talking in Latin again!" the twins fuss. "You're being rude."
"It's not rude if we don't want you to hear it," Alois says. "We're talking about things that shouldn't concern you."
"As long as you keep your noses out of our business, you won't get hurt," Ciel says. "You need to know your place and stop digging."
"We don't like secrets," Honey says. "We're all friends, right?"
"No," Ciel says. "We aren't. I don't have friends for a reason and that reason is to keep you and everyone else safe."
"Why wouldn't we be safe if we were friends?" Tamaki asks.
"Because we aren't who you think we are," Ciel says.
"Well, we can't really think if we don't really know," the twins say. "You never tell us anything about yourselves. Kyoya can't even find anything about you and he usually finds out about everything of someone's life."
"And that's how it should be," I say. "Nobody needs to know."
"But why?" Haruhi asks.
"Don't worry about it," the triplets say.
"Hey, guys, look!" Alois suddenly cries out, distracting us from our conversation. "Cookies!"
"Cookies?!" Honey cheers. "I want some cookies! Come on, Takashi, let's get some cookies!" He grabs Mori's arm and tugs him toward the bakery full of cookies.
The previous conversation ends as we head to the bakery.
Ciel sighs. "This is getting tedious... I don't understand why I need connections when you and Sebastian are good enough. Not like I'd need any connections in Japan. I should be going to a rich school in England."
"Sometimes connections everywhere are important," I say.
"She's right, ya know?" Thompson says.
"She's smarter than anyone here," Timber says.
"I bet she has connections all over the world," Canterbury adds.
"Exactly. That's why all I need are her and Sebastian," Ciel scoffs. "Now, Zandra, I demand you to go get me one of every sweet in that store."
"As you wish, my lord," I say. "Would you like me to rush them home and be back in a couple minutes?"
"Yes, but do it in a couple of seconds instead," he commands.
"Little shit..." I grumble in Satanic language so he wouldn't understand. "Yes, my lord."
"Zandra, what are you going to get?" Tamaki asks.
"One of everything," I say.
"One of everything?!" Honey squeals. "I wanna do the same!"
"No," Mori says.
"Aww, man..." Honey whines.
I make my way right to the front, getting many complaints from people already in line.
"I'm sorry ma'am, but you have to wait for your turn like everyone else," the cashier says.
I look right into her eyes and flash my eyes at her. "You will do as I say and get me one of everything in this store that is available to buy."
Her eyes flashed and that's how I know I'm in control. She bows. "Yes ma'am. I will do that right away."
"What?! That's totally unfair! Why do you get special treatment?!" the man behind me yells.
I turn towards him slowly and give him a glare that could literally kill him if I wanted. He shrinks back in fear and goes silent. "I always get what I want when I want. Who are you to stop me?"
"S-sorry... Y-you can do w-what you want..." he mumbles and backs as far away from me as he can while remaining in line.
"That's what I thought," I say, turning back to the register.
"It's nice to know when people know their place," Ciel says, walking up beside me. "Can she not go any faster? Zandra?"
"Yes, my lord." I command her to go faster and she eventually comes back with a large bag full of sweets and baked goods.
"Ciel, you guys can't just cut in front of everyone," Tamaki says. "It's not the commoner way."
"Well, it's a good thing we aren't commoners then, isn't it?" Ciel says with a smug smirk.
"No offense to Haru-chan," Finny says.
"I'm used to it by now..." Haruhi sighs.
Whispers start going around about wondering who we are.
"Good job, Ciel, now our secret is out and people are starting to wonder who we are," Alois complains.
"Let them wonder. I don't really care," Ciel says, ushering me out from behind his back.
I quickly leave and return to a large crowd formed around the host club. I see the triplets look at me for help. They don't have manipulation like I do. Let's be honest, they're too cute looking to be scary anyway. The same goes for Honey.
I sigh. "Please, move." People start to move as I wade through them to get the host club.
"Zandra! Where have you been?!" Tamaki yells.
"Yeah, we needed you ages ago," Kyoya adds.
"Why would you need me?" I ask suspiciously.
"You have an aura that sends off negative waves that push people away!" Tamaki says.
"So does my 'brother.'"
"True, but his isn't as... strong?" Honey says, unsure if that's the right word to use.
I sigh. "How tedious..." I look toward the people surrounding us to see that they're now interested in me being a new person that's interacted with the 'rich people.' They all start coming up to me to ask me questions until I give them a glare. My eyes flicker on and they all collectively gasp. "If you all don't back away and leave us alone in a few seconds all hell will break loose."
They collectively gulp and quickly back away as my eyes turn back to their normal nonglowing red color.
"Wow, Zandra, that's amazing! How'd you do that?!" the twins yell.
"It's better if you don't ask," Alois says. "You wouldn't want to know."
"I'd like to know," Kyoya says.
"Did you get them safely home?" Ciel asks.
"Of course, what kinda maid would I be if–"
"All you needed to say was yes," Ciel says, cutting me off. "I don't need a long explanation."
"Let's go home," Finny says tiredly. "I'm exhausted."
