"THAT IS ABSOLUTELY PREPOSTEROUS! HOW DARE THEY! THEY CANNOT DO THAT, SURELY? I CONTEST! I WILL MARCH RIGHT UP TO CORNELIUS FUDGE AND WHIP HIM INTO SHAPE, HOW DARE HE! OH, IF I GET MY HANDS ON THAT WRETCHED MAN I SHALL WRING HIS THROAT!"
Mrs Weasley slammed her hand on the dining table and shoved her chair back. Kingsley Shacklebolt broke the news to the Order and an uproar in the dining room commenced. Remus didn't say a word, he shrunk back into his seat, shaking his head, not meeting the eyes of anyone in the room as tears welled in them. Mrs Weasley, despite her and Catina having their differences, would never wish Azkaban on the poor girl. She had reviewed her treatment of the girl and changed her views, however, when Ginny informed her of the break up between Catina and Fred, she couldn't help but feel a little relieved and dare I say- happy.
Sirius could not contain himself. He threw his glass at the wall, it smashing violently and he went to throw Tonks' glass too but she quickly snatched it up. He shook angrily, his blood was boiling and he so wanted to punch the first person he came into view of, fortunately for him it was Snape. He raised his fist but Remus moved for the first time since the news and grasped his wrist.
"That won't help," he muttered, his voice cracking as tears fell from his eyes. Remus definitely had a close relationship with Catina and thinking about how Sirius seemed when he came out from Prison, he couldn't bare to think about the small girl in there! His heart ached for her.
Sirius, who didn't care if it wouldn't help, so wanted to break Snape's nose but the crack in Remus' voice halted him. Instead, Sirius spun on his heels and stormed towards Dumbledore who (was in hiding at the house) adjusted his half-moon spectacles trying time think of something to do to help Catina.
"You have to do something! She is an already broken girl, she won't survive in there! I barely did, do you really think she will? Merlin help me, I will storm that prison if I have to, I will do anything to get her out, Albus, please!"
"Sirius, as much as I'm sure you would, as you say, 'storm' the prison, I can't allow you to do that. We must work legally, but fast. I will do everything in my power to get Catina out, after all, it was my fault she is in there."
"What do you mean it's your fault?" Asked Tonks, her hair was bright red from the news, she too, was wild with anger at the thought of Catina in Azkaban.
"I didn't register her straight away. I should have registered her."
"Albums you just not blame yourself, nevertheless you should have registered her, a foolish act for you not to, but there is no use blaming yourself. No wallowing, more working, okay?" Said McGonagall with pursed lips, "is there no way of getting someone in to talk to her? To let her know we are doing everything in our power to get her out?"
Shaklebolt shook his head, "unfortunately not, I could possibly get in, but she is around other prisoners, it would be difficult. Maybe we could start a petition?"
"Oh yes, because a sodding petition would work wouldn't it? Of course it wouldn't you prat! If that would work every prisoner would have a petition done!"
"Sirius-"
"No! Be quiet! I'm thinking."
He paced back and forth, stroking his moustache as he raked his mind for a plan. He was a marauder, schemes was what they did, surely he would be able to come up with something. He looked to Remus who was dabbing his eyes with a handkerchief and nibbling a piece of chocolate to calm himself down.
"I broke out of Azkaban. I could break back in."
"Absolutely not! You cannot risk that, Sirius, think of Harry!"
"What about Cat?"
"I care for Cat as much as I do Harry. In my heart I feel as if I have the same duty to Cat as I do Harry. I don't know why, I just do! If Harry was in there I would do the same. And as much as I haven't been there for Harry as much as I should have done, he has all of you there for him, to look after him if something ever happens to me. Who does she have in there? Nobody-"
Catina leaned against the bars, she had no tears left to cry, and despite the horrific cries and screams from other prisoners she felt somewhat better as Bellatrix sat in her cell opposite her. They were not talking but the presence settled her. She didn't seem as mad as everyone said.
It had been a few days, or so she believed, she couldn't even use meals to determine the date or time since her arrival because they had one meal a day- a cold porridge and some water- and the time between each meal was not equal. But time was not very easy to determine in the presence of soul-sucking dementors.
"Child," Bellatrix finally said, or shall I say hissed, "show me your eyes."
This happened a lot, Bellatrix would ask to see her eyes and she would oblige. She didn't know why her eyes fascinated her, but if it meant she had some sort of interaction to stop her going doolally then so be it.
The bangle of keys echoed along the corridor and the cries of inmates increased. Catina and Bellatrix both crawled back into the shadows of their own cells for if a guard found them talking there would be more of a punishment for them. Catina never looked up when the guards came, especially when the dementors followed on behind. She would squeeze her eyes shut tightly, hugging her legs to her chest and focus her mind on those she cared for the most, Prosper, Caspian, Luisa, Remus, Lyall, Harry, Sirius, Fred.
The dementor came past and she felt the familiar tug of her soul and hope leaving her body. She tried as her might to keep her happy memories in her mind. She tried so very hard but she was so weak from lack of food and drink, she gave up and succumbed already, letting happiness drain from her body leaving a curled up ball of nothingness.
Not even the thought of Fred could make her happy.
