Episode Twenty: A Little Surprise

Yuki felt Disease's teeth grip her scruff, and lift her off the ground. "Where--?!"

Yuki felt her paws make contact with the ground.

"Remember that gorge that seperates the Gupi Forest from, your home, the Snow Forest?" Disease asked, sounding excited.

"Yeah," Yuki growled.

"That gorge leads to a dried up lake! The one where you were born, from what I've heard," Disease sounded like he could barely contain himself.

"What'd you do?!" Yuki snapped, noticing a blind-fold over her eyes.

"I filled it up with acid!" Disease purred. "An Acid Lake and River! How great is that?! How great is that!? I know, it's amazing. It's not even my best work yet, you should've seen the last one! It's the--" Disease cut himself off. "I'm sure you'll like it." Disease regrouped, and tore the blind-fold from Yuki's head.

Yuki almost screamed with horror. The lake was full of acid! Sizzling hot acid! Yuki was born in that lake! It was true.

"How could you...?" Yuki almost cried. The lake had been dried up two thousand years ago, and was created by a meteor shower three thousand years earlier. That was the only meteor shower to have ever been seen by kitsune.

"It's beautiful," Disease sighed. "I only wished I had more acid. Y'know, expand the lake? Maybe even, I don't know, flood half of Kitsuné? And maybe the Snow Forest-- where you live-- ! That would've been nice."

Yuki wished she really could kill Disease. He'd tooken it too far.

"I can't believe you," Yuki sobbed, realizing she was crying. She fell to the ground, puling her paws over her eyes. "Just stop!" Yuki hated talking right now. Her voice was thick and her nose was running.

"I've broken you!" Disease purred.

"Go away," Yuki murmured, sniffling.

"Oh, all right," Disease moaned. "But I expected you to be more tough. You're just a little mewling cub, nothing more. I got over it when--" Disease cut himself off again. For a moment Yuki felt his anger bend into grief, and then back to anger.

Yuki shuddered to her paws, her tears drying in place. "You've gone too far! This ends now!" Yuki drew her claws over Disease's face. It left a small scar, for she had barely punctured his fur.

Disease started to hover, then floated. Great! He can fly, too? Yuki thought, digging her claws into a rock and shattering it.

"I'll be back," Disease meowed, going higher into the sky. Yuki had to bend her neck to gaze at him, and she realized she was alone except for Disease.

Despite the distance between them, Yuki could hear clearly what Disease said, "I promise you, the next time you see me, I won't be alone! I'm going to get the whole world to turn on little ol' Kitsuné! Just watch me!"
