"We can't escape?" Yuki was relieved to hear Vomit's voice.

"Not at all," Lantern answered.

Yuki peered through the darkness, which didn't seem so bad with Lantern's light. She saw Vomit, Headless, Techno, and Plague.

But there was no sign of Kazan.

"Oh well that's helpful," Techno growled. "We're going to die here."

"No you aren't," Lantern said, sounding less calm. "These tunnels were made by one kitsune, well, not a kitsune-- but that's not the point, there is an escape."

"Someone made these?" Plague asked, saying Techno's unspoken words. "What's his name? His he still alive today?"

"Yes, one of my species made them," Lantern answered. "Our species is called the Negatives. He's still alive. His name is--"

Lantern stopped. He looked disturbed, as if something inside him told him not to say the creator's name.

 "What is it?" Plague urged. Yuki could hear his pawsteps drawing closer.

"I don't.... Want to say it," Lantern said, tucking his head into his paws, covering his glowing face.

"Plague!" Yuki heard Vomit's voice. "Don't force the guy. He don't wanna say it, oh well."

Plague was bristling, his fur spiked up. "Fine," he groaned.

"Has anyone seen Kazan?" Techno called. "I can't find him."

"None of us can! It's pitch-black down here!" Plague called back.

Yuki realized the light had faded, and that Lantern was no where to be seen. Did he ditch us? Yuki wondered, trying not to bristle.

"Where'd that guy go?" Techno asked. "That -- Lantern -- guy ditched us! Didn't he?"

Yuki knew she could trust Lantern -- He did save them. It was him who let them live. Something just wasn't right.
