H. Q.

You were the night.
Sight left me in the cover of the dark, an enigma that puzzled me, yet drew me in. You were not of the world I knew, but in the lure of the moonbeams, I was ready to leave it all behind.

You were the dawn.
Shy sunshine peaking out from the horizon, the warmth of you a relief. It was breathtaking to see your colors. You were painting the scenery of my life in a way that I never could.

You were the day.
The sun sweltering upon me, everything that you were as dawn became more intense. You were a shining star, the one that was the biggest and brightest, and all the other stars faded from view. You climbed higher and higher till the sweat pooled on my brow and I searched for shade. The moment you reached your peak you found me cowering, and thus your decline began.

You were the dusk.
A shy fading, falling glimmer of what you once were. I saw the colors, the beauty that I had fallen for, but it was too late, you were disappearing over the horizon, faster than I could control... heh... like I could ever truly control you, I didn't want to.

You are the night.
But I know now. The sky is not something to love with all your heart, lest it get overwhelmed with the vastness and beauty of it all.
