Chapter 33
Chapter 33 - KMCF
Applicant: Jasmine Franco
"Jasmine Franco?"
Miranda and I shared the same look we had given just before the other two applicants. We were in a constant pattern where it only seemed like every one of them had studied the history of fashion and the rest just needed money desperately.
"Hi!" She was attempting some type of runway strut as she walked to her seat. "It's so nice to meet the both of you!"
"Thank you," I said, it was my turn anyway. Miranda and I were taking turns responding to the endless compliments they were all throwing. "So, we're just going to hit you with a series of questions, some we've prepared based on your application and some freely from us."
She nodded, even the way she nodded was perky too.
"Why do you want to work here?" I looked down at her application to be sure of what I was going to say next. "You've never worked at a clothing store before."
"Well, uh.." she fidgeted in her seat, looking everywhere else but us. "Just trying something new. We all need to experience something new once in a while, right?"
Miranda and I shared a quick glance, her response was similar to the other two applicants. But, Miranda and I both knew they were just looking for a higher paying job.
Applicant: Wendy Halls
Its was like staring at a mirror image of Rocxy. She had every detail from the snotty attitude to the dull facial expressions.
"So, Wendy, what makes you different from your competitions?" Miranda asked. While Wendy didn't notice, I heard the plead in Miranda's voice, hoping her answer would be better than her other ones.
Wendy took a moment to herself to show off an expression of confidence. "Three words. I'm just better."
I crossed out her name and even emphasized the action just to wipe the look of confidence sitting on her face.
Applicant: Hailey Jewels
"What are three of your greatest strengths?" I asked.
The blonde focused her eyes on the glass of water in front of her before figuring out her answers.
"I'm well organized, everything has to be perfect. I'm determined, I tend not to give up on things even if there's a small chance of success. Lastly, I am a kind person. It comes well in handy when there's a problem with a customer." She finished off with a sweet smile.
She seemed like the perfect candidate, all of her responses were decent and better by comparison to the others. Just one last question and she could get the job.
"And three weaknesses?"
Her face suddenly turned red. "I wake up really late, it has always been a bad habit of mine. Plus, I get hungry really fast, so I have to have something to eat every hour or so. This interview is an exception. And I sort of have a gambling problem."
I was going to lose my mind, none of them seemed to be the ideal employee we were looking for. It made me regret leaving Hunter's place. And we had at least ten more people to go through before we could leave.

By some miracle, we narrowed our choices to two applicants: Jack Huff and Rose Odessa.
Jack, a tall man who was roughly around my age. He had jet black hair and beautiful hazel eyes. He was an outstanding graduate whose objective now was to get some experience in the fashion world.
Rose was a college student with excellent grades and she had briefed us on how her biggest dream involved owning her own industry, but of course she needed to learn the basics. Her name matched perfectly with her rose gold hair, she as well had big and innocent brown eyes.
I yawned very loud after giving Rose and Jack a phone call, congratulating them on their new jobs. It was already past eight when we finished up the interviews.
"Jen," Miranda looked at me with so much sincerity. "Thank you."
I stared back with almost as much, but quickly rolled my eyes in a playful manner. "It's okay. I wasn't going to leave you alone to handle twenty people."
She took a long and deep breath. "So, how's it going with Hunter?"
I stole a quick glance at the passing scenery, "it's a lot." I looked down at my hands. "He's been through a lot."
"That-"
"Whenever I think about it too much, I tear up. He was suffering all by himself and I was being a- bïtch!" I didn't mean to curse, I didn't swear as much as I did before because of Hunter. But, it was the perfect word to describe me.
"I demanded so much from him to the point where I couldn't even notice how he may have felt." As I spoke, I could feel the words choking through my tears. "I'm a terrible person. All I can do is listen to him, and it's not even enough to make up for all my wrong doings." The more the tears kept falling, the harder it was to keep talking.
Miranda's eyes were constantly switching back and forth between steering and trying to console me. "Jen, stop. You can't change how you acted, all you can do is make up for it. Right now, Hunter needs someone to support him not pity him."
She dropped a box of tissues on my lap, "stop crying, you're going to ruin my car."
A smile appeared on my lips. "How can you say the right things, but at the same time say things that make me want to hit you?"
"I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not." We both shared a little laugh before we sat in silence. I wiped my face and blew my nose while Miranda focused all of her attention on driving. It give me some time to think about what Miranda had said.
I couldn't dwell the things I wish I could've done. Miranda was right, Hunter needed someone to help him up, not cry as he falls.
"Thank you."
"You don't need to thank me." I looked over at Miranda, her modesty seemed to fade when a tiny grin crawled its way to her face.

Super short, I know. It's not my best chapter. After all it was just a filler chapter.
I want to thank you all for 10K and for waiting over a month for this chapter, though it kind of sucked.
Just wait till next chapter! However, I don't want to jinx it like I did this one.
VOTE & COMMENT, it's a sign of encouragement.
