Chapter 10
Chapter 10 - KMCF
"Do you see the box?"
Yeah, why is it in front of my house?"
"I need you to give this to Hunter, it's the suit for the groomsm-"
"Not doing it,"
"Jennifer."
"Grace, I don't want to see him."
"Jen, look it's simple, all you have to do is drive your way to his apartment, drop off the box, and you're done."
"If it's so simple why don't you do it?"
"I'm busy and so is everyone else."
"I'm sure you are. I don't understand why the box is at my condo, it should've been delivered to him instead."
"That was before I knew his address, Jen just give the box to him."
"No, like I said I'm-"
"574 Pearson Ave."
Beep.
I grabbed my car keys, hoping he won't be home when I knock on his door. Yes, I'm afraid, afraid of the way we left things. Embarrassed of the things I said and I did, I acted like an idiot freely on my own. How was I supposed to show my face to someone who has much deeper secrets.
I ended up driving twenty-three blocks away from my house, just to stare at a massive building. As if entering the building with a messy bun, a black loose mesh top and light wash jeans wasn't enough, I had to walk in carrying a very visible box.
"Excuse me, I'm looking for someone." I said to the receptionist in my nicest most possible voice.
Being the first time I've been inside an apartment building, I looked for aid from the plumb blonde with a thick coating of eyeshadow.
She hadn't bothered to look at me, but she began typing on her computer. "What's their name?" She said exposing her boredom.
"Hunter Manning."
She shot up like a rocket, "Mr. Manning?" She was finally able to look up at me, causing her excitement to disappear. "Please be serious, who exactly are you looking for?"
I raised my eyebrows, but still managed to keep smiling. "Hunter Manning."
"Look, Miss-?"
"It's Jennifer Anderson."
"Look, Miss Anderson, I see girls like you everyday with some outrageous excuse of wanting to see people in this building. But, I'll have you know that we at Dynasty Co. do not tolerate exploitation, gold diggers, or deranged fans."
I blinked a couple times before finding my balance. "Hunter knows me."
She rudely laughed after looking at me in disgust, "I'm sure he does." She snickered a bit before continuing to do her work.
Is she serious?
I stared at her in disbelief, but managed to keep myself together. "He does."
"This discussion is over, please show your way out." She pointed to the double doors as if I didn't know how to leave.
However, I didn't walk out and give up. "Hunter Manning is a friend of mine."
She groaned a bit, right after she mumbled some curse words. "Let's see what Mr. Manning has to say about that."
The receptionist started to dial numbers on the phone near her keyboard. "Good Afternoon, Mr. Manning, sorry to disturb you." A small pause. "There's a woman who claims she's acquainted with you," another small silence. "Her name is Jennifer. Jennifer Anderson."
I couldn't hear much from Hunter's side. From the look of the woman's visage, I could tell she was embarrassed and surprised. "Oh, you do? Are you sure?" a grin began to creep on my lips. "No, I'm sorry I'll send her right up."
She hung up the phone while glaring at me. "Go straight into the elevator, it's the fifteenth floor, room 1504"

I knocked on his door twice and patiently waited. I had already thought of my plan to quickly leave.
Greet, deny, excuse, and leave
The door opened up to show a handsome man in his pajamas and slightly attractive bedhead. His broad body towered mine as he gave me an apologetic smile.
"Hey" was all he said.
Step 1: Greet him.
"Hi."
"I'm sorry about the receptionist."
"Oh, no, it's okay. You seem tired, did I wake you up?"
"No, I was just taking a quick nap."
"Your tux, Grace wanted me to deliver it to you," I shifted the box towards his him.
"Thank you," He smiled, but he looked drowsy. "Do you want to come in?"
Step 2: Deny.
"I can't, I-" I cut myself off right before I nodded my head.
What are you doing? That's not denying! Jennifer?
I stepped into his apartment, but believe me it was a mansion inside. Though there wasn't a second floor, there were so many expensive and exotic things that replaced that. The living room was the first place I stepped into, behind it was a kitchen that maybe even master chefs would have. I only got to explore two places, but it was enough to keep me speechless.
"I have pink lemonade." Hunter said. Since the living room walls were giant windows I gazed over all of New York, while my back faces Hunter.
"Then I'll have that then." I turned around to give him a smile, but he was magically right beside me. "Thanks," I said when he handed me a cup.
We both sat down in bar chairs that faced each other and were against the glass walls, so I was able to savor the view while sitting with Hunter. I only heard sounds of me sipping my drink and the air conditioner, everywhere was silent. His eyes were beating on me continually, but I preterm not to notice especially with the way we left things off.
"Sorry." I murmured
Immediately, I looked over at Hunter, he had deep sincere expression that any woman would want to hug him. Mute for a second, I began to process my reply, "for what?"
I had a pretty good idea of why he was sorry, but felt the need to clear it up.
"For this," he reached over to touch my neck, giving me goosebumps from head to toe. It was a particular spot he touched that stung a little, then it hit me.
The hickey.
I immediately clapped my neck and blushed intensely. He tipped his head back and began to laugh."You're always teasing me."
"Really?" He had a glint of laughter in his eyes no more drowsiness.
"Yes, from fake snakes to being chased by your dog."
"Roger? Oh, I almost forgot about him. Roger wasn't chasing you, all he wanted was the tennis ball you had." He smiled deviously.
"The tennis ball you gave to me, knowing Roger was behind me." I leaned in, the conversation we were having was getting really interesting.
"You can't blame a dog for wanting a ball, Jen." Hunter shrugged his shoulders and smirked.
"I know, I'm blaming you."
Hunter glanced at the view, but didn't say anything. "There," he said with his slender fingers pressing against the glass.
"What?" I followed his gaze.
"We buried him right there."
"Roger?" I couldn't help, but feel bad as well.
"Yeah, I never got a pet after him." Hunter's eyes grew sour. He rested his chin on his hand and just stared at the city.
"But, it's been ages, I'm sure Roger would want you to get other pets," I said. Realizing what I was said, I began to laugh.
"This seems more like a joke than words of reassurance." Hunter raised his eyebrows, but I managed to smile it off.
"Sorry, but think of the bright side, you can always play with Ozzy." I drank my lemonade carefree.
"Is that an invitation to come over?" Hunter said smirking.
"Not anymore." I rolled my eyes to avoid contact with him. He only laughed for bit, but I felt the expiration of my visit coming closer.
"I have to go or else I'll be late for Aisle Walking 101 with Grace." I was already heading towards the door when two words sent a spark of resistance.
"Skip it," His voice echoing thoughout the large apartment. I turned around to see a sexy man, who wore a shirt that toned out his entire torso. "Just skip it, just tell her you're not feeling well."
"I can't."
"Why not?"
He's closer than before, really close.
"Because I can't."
"You can spend hours with your sister or hours watching 22 Jump Street with me."
** **
Hunter sat next to me in a chilled position, even the way he sat was sexy. With every chance I got, I would stare at him. It was pitch black on the gigantic apartment, the big screen television was the only thing illuminating it. I wasn't sure what part of the movie we were at nor do I know how I ended up next to Hunter with a simple decorative pillow that I put to divide us.
Just when I promised myself this would be the last glance, Hunter caught my eyes and let out a chuckle. Hunter started to lean closer to me, causing me to tilt back. Suddenly my movement was stopped by the sofa arm, he was so close that we could practically kiss.
"W-what're you doing?" my voice, a bit shaky.
"Giving you a present" Hunter gave off a sly smile.
"Whatever it is, I don't want it" I said, lying. I wanted it badly. Though I knew it was wrong what we were doing, especially since the last time we left things off.
"Jen, don't lie" With that said he dropped a long passionate kiss on my desperate lips, all my thoughts faded immediately. I gasped for air, but the kiss went on and on. The kiss was so intense, especially when our tongues would intertwine.
