Welcome back, Nick

Before you read, please note that this book was written when I was 12/13 so expect it to be a bit cringey. However, I was and still am a good writer, I just want to make sure you guys/gals know. Thank you! And you may began reading!

.......

Judy yawned as she sat in her office chair, glaring at the stack of papers that was wasting space on her desk.

She groaned as she glanced at the clock that read 6:54pm. Meaning, work would be over in six minutes.
Six more minutes of paper work and she could leave, go home, take a nice warm bath, jump on Wattpad, and finally go to sleep.
It was the perfect plan.

Judy heard he phone Buzz and picked it up. It was a message from Nick.

It said: Hey, carrots. I'll be arriving on the train in ten minutes.

Judy gasped in realization. She forgot that Nick was coming back from the academy.

Judy jumped out of her boring state and hopped up and down. "Yay! Nick is coming back!" She squealed in an overly exited tone.
An officer from the next room banged on the wall, signaling her to be quiet. Judy frowned at the wall but then smiled.

"I better get to the train station." She stopped hopping and packed up all her things.

Judy wasn't wasting any time on getting out of the ZPD doors and to go and greet he best friend ever! (Or rather only friend)

Anyway, she didn't bother taking a car since the train station was only a block away. Judy ran down the slightly crowded a sidewalk, only about a minute later she was turning the corner.

Seeing the station, Judy broke into a full on sprint. Once there the bunny sat on a nearby bench and waited for her fairly attractive fox friend.

Not like much fanfics, Judy knows she loves Nick. Hell, she practically dreamed about how their wedding would go and what their kids would look like. If interspecies could have kids anyway.

Judy sat down her backpack that she used to keep files from work in and sat on the bench as well. She was soo excited to see her best friend for the first time in months that she had to keep herself from jumping up and down in her seat.

A few minutes later a train showed up, but Judy was asleep on the bench.

Nick waited patiently for train doors to open before casually walking out with his suit case in paw.
He stopped and smirked when He saw the peacefully sleeping bunny. Nick made his way to the bench where Judy was and sat down by her feet. He sighed as he closed his eyes.

It felt good being back home, next to Judy, smelling the brisk city air. Though one thing he wishes he could see is the beautiful amethyst crystals which most mammals call eyes. Man he wishes to get lost in those eyes of hers, to pull her close in his arms and breathe in her scent.
But if he were to do that he'd probably scared her away...

Well, that's what he thought..

The night crisp wind of Zootopia blew, causing the bunny to shiver. Nick glanced at her face and smiled. She looked so cute when she was sleeping, even though he wasn't supposed to say cute, he couldn't find the sense of mind to deny it. Nick took his tail and wrapped it around the bunny, not caring about the onlookers around them. He felt something grip his tail and looked to see Judy holding it and smiling.

Nick yawned and leaned back on the bench, eventually his eye lids getting heavy before falling into a wonderful slumber next to his forever and always, bestfriend.

'At least for now..' Nick thought before falling asleep.

"Welcome back, Nick..." the muffled voice of Judy said.

XXXX

The clouds high above the gleaming city of Zootopia churned and created the classic and old fashion water cycle which consisted of good ole condensation, precipitation, and evaporation.
What said clouds are churning and creating is what some people call precipitation, others simply call this rain.

Call it what you want, it was going to fall on this cool and breezy night of the city whether mammals liked it or not.

Judy stirred at the feeling of something wet hit her face. She assumed it was sweat until another, and another....and another fell. She groaned and slowly opened her eyes to see she was at the train station....on a bench....next to Nick.

Nick.......

"Nick!" Judy screamed as she shot up from laying down and landing on the fox.

Nick instantly woke up and raised an eyebrow. "Heyyy, carrots?"

Judy's eyes lit up and she threw her arms around the fox's neck and pulled him into a hug.

"Nick, I've missed you soo much!" She nearly cried into his fur.

"W-woah, fluff." He said, wrapping his arms around her tiny frame.

"I'm here now."

Judy broke the hug and placed both of her paws on his shoulders. "It's great that your back, Nick. It's been boring without your stupid comments or jokes." She smiled warmly at him.

Nick blushed and nearly melted at her smile. He smiled back sheepishly.
"Sheesh, I didn't know you missed me and my lame jokes soo much."

'God....I just wanna kiss his cute red fur right now!' Judy thought.

The rain picked up a little but they didn't seem to mind due to them staring into each other's eyes.

'She's soo perfect..' Nick thought, lost in her eyes.

Judy felt hot tears in her eyes as she gazed at the handsome fox.
Nick saw this and brought a paw up to her cheek, wiping the tear.

"N-Nick.." She said and broke into tears.

Nick held her face in both his paws now, never breaking eye contact. "Judy, don't cry." He cooed.

Outside, he was calm and collected but on the inside, he was exploding with feelings. He wanted so bad to hold this bunny forever, to.......to kiss her and tell her he'd never leave again. But due to not knowing how she felt, he kept his feelings hidden.

Judy on the other paw, cried tears of emotions, tears of the pain she felt to hold her emotions. Though she tried so hard, it brought tears to her eyes.

Judy couldn't help herself, she was about to do the unthinkable.. kiss Nick Wilde.

Well, that is until.....

CRACK!!

Judy shrieked at the loud crack of lightning. She clung onto Nick out of instinct.

Nick was surprised but then chuckled. "Judes, it's just lightning-"

He let out a high pitched scream as another lightning strike was heard. Nick hugged Judy back, slamming his eye lids shut.

After the lightning was over, Nick and Judy's grip loosen and they looked at each other.

"Pfft....I only hugged you because you hugged me." Nick said trying to sound convincing.

Judy cleared her throat and awkwardly climbed off the fox's lap. "Y-yeah.....I-I only hugged you because it was cold."

Judy sat on the wet bench and sighed. Nick caught this and felt like he had done something wrong.
'Did I hurt her feelings from saying that?'

"J-judy...are you okay?" He asked, glancing at the bunny.

Judy let out a shaky breath and nodded. "Yeah..I'm just scared."

Nick turned to the bunny and looked at her in sympathy. "What are you scared about?" He took her paw in his.

"Th-the lightning. I know it's childish but-"

The lightning striked again, causing both mammals to let out a yelp.

"It's scary!" Judy cried, pulling her paw from Nick and hugging herself while tears and rain poured down on her.

Nick scooted closer to her and put an arm around her. "Judy it's okay. I-I'm scared of the lightning too."

Judy looked up to him, raising a eyebrow. "Really?"

Nick chuckled lightly. "Yeah. The guy who never let's anything get to him, let's a little thunder and lightning get to him. Do you want to know why?"

Judy solemnly nodded.
"Alright," Nick said, leaning back on the wet bench.

They didn't care that it was raining, or rather didn't pay attention to it. They were more focused on each other than anything else.

"I was about seven years old when my dad left. It was a stormy night like this. He was angry at something my mother had found hidden in the house though I was still young and didn't know what it was. Anyway, my mom hid his car keys so he couldn't leave so he exploded in anger."

Nick sighed and tried his best to keep himself under control.

"He got so mad that when my mom wasn't looking, he took it out on me. Nearly broke my arm and he definitely scarred me for life. My mom caught him and tried to stop him but he hit her. I tried to stop him from hitting her but he wouldn't give in. I watched him beat her half to death. And as if on cue, before he left he bared his teeth at me just as the lightning striked."
Nick shivered at the memory of it.

"And every time the lightning strikes, a-an image of him appears."

Judy saw a tear fall from his face. "Oh, Nick." Judy went to hug him but the loud crash of thunder startled both of them.

Judy fell back and landed in a rain puddle on the ground. She felt a slight weight on her paws and opened her eyes.
To her surprise, Nick was the first thing she saw.

Judy then looked to her paws to see Nick's intertwined with hers. A blush formed on her face and her ears grew hot. "Okay....this is like some type of stuff you read in fanfiction." Judy laughed nervously.

Nick nodded in agreement and got off of the bunny. He then helped her up. "Well, you're all soaked." Nick chuckled.

"Oh I'm not the only one."Judy said with a smirk.

"Carrots what do you-" Nick was cut when Judy kicked the back of his knee, sending him falling muzzle first into a much larger puddle.

Judy exploded in laughter while Nick pulled his face from the puddle. "Hardy, har, carrots." Nick coughed before shaking like a wet puppy.

Well...that's the amount of adorableness Judy compared him to.

"Aww...is the wittle puppy sad?" Judy teased, still laughing.

Nick answered with a sneeze and a snotty sniff.

Judy stopped laughing and looked at the fox worried. "Oh my goodness....Nick" Judy said with a gasp.

"What?" Nick questioned after sneezing again.

"You're sick! I'm so sorry!" Judy helped him up and placed a paw on his forehead, checking his temperature.

"You're burning up!" She exclaimed.

Nick chuckled at the bunny and playfully moved her paw away from him. "Judes, I'm fine. Let's just go."

Judy nodded and they began walking out of the train station. She glanced at the fox as they were walking and saw him shivering. "Nick, it's not even that cold. If I had a jacket I'd give it to you." She chuckled but Nick didn't say anything.

Judy looked concerned and was about to ask if he was okay before Nick spoke. "Judy, d-do you wanna, like...hold paws?"
Judy smiled and nodded. Soon they were walking down the rainy street, paw in paw, hearts fluttering at an unimaginable pace.

XXXX

Once Nick reached Judy's apartment, they were about to part ways until Judy stopped him.
"Nick, I want to thank you for walking me home.."

"Sure, any-" Nick sneezed again.

"Nick.." Judy sternly said.

Nick looked up to her, his eyes getting red from the sneezing and exhaust.
"You're sick."

Nick sniffed and shook his head. "I'm not sick I just have a small sneeze."

The evil yet patronizing sound of the lightning startled both of them. They both screamed surprisingly at the same pitch.

Judy wiped rain from her face and sighed. "Maybe you should stay the night with me.....since it's late and it's storming."

"Do you have space for another mammal?" Asked Nick, yawning.

"Y-yeah, I have a new apartment, silly!" She playfully punched him in his arm.

They headed inside the lobby and up the stairs to her new apartment. Judy unlocked her door and held it for Nick. "Wow, carrots..you really out did yourself." Nick said in awe.
"It's nothing, really." Judy blushed lightly.

Judy showed him to the second room which consisted of a perfect sized bed for a mammal like Nick, one normal sized window, white carpeted floor, and a nightstand next to the bed. There was also a bathroom connected to the room.

"It's not perfect but it's livable." Judy said with a smile.

Nick nodded a thank you. "But what about our soaked clothes?" He questioned.

I can wash them and possibly ask my neighbors for spare clothes for you." She suggested.

"No...I'm all for the clothes washing seeing how we have to go to work in it, but I'm sure you have a giant bunny shirt somewhere in your closet."

Judy chuckled before leaving the room. "Feel free to grab something from the fridge while I get you clothes."

Nick nodded but didn't step in the room. He didn't want to track up the white carpet with his dirty paws.

Soon Judy came back with a pair of basketball shorts and a robe. "Here you go!" She happily handed the fox the clothes.

"Where'd you get the shorts?" Nick asked.

"Neighbors, goodnight!" She skipped out the room.

Nick tried to sigh but cut himself off with a sneeze. "Well...I better get washed up."
