The New BadCop
Judy's eye twitched as Nick finished eating his doughnut and wiped his hands on his napkin, making the most stupidest and annoying noises. They were filling out case files that Chief Bogo had sent them for extra work.
They are currently at the kitchen table, Nick sitting in the living room and Judy at the table.
"Can you please shut up?!" Judy yelled, pulling her ears in aggravation.
Nick smirked at her and spoke. "Shut doesn't go up, Carrots."
Judy leaned back in her chair and sighed. "Well, can you please be quiet, Nick? I'm trying to focus on my work."
Nick nodded and placed a paw to his chin. "I'm surprised you can focus on your work, isn't the thought of what happened last night still fresh in your little bunny skull?"
Judy felt her breath stop and didn't turn to look at the smirking fox. "I'm able to focus."
"Wanna bet?"
"Why is everything a bet to you?!"
"I dunno, maybe I just want a kiss from my special bunny." He said with a chuckle.
"You're not getting one, and we're not even in a relationship. We're basically platonic."
"Hmm....I thought we were more than platonic seeing how we have a date Friday."
Judy put her pen down and turned in her chair to look at the fox. "W-what?"
"You heard me, fluff. We have a date, though I might have to cancel seeing how you can't keep a straight face looking at me,"
"Which, I know you can't so don't get your hopes up." Nick added, picking up another doughnut.
Judy sat frozen at the kitchen table, as shocked as she was, she did want to go on a date with him. However, she knew that this little game of Nick's was going to be challenging, seeing how she melts when he smiles, she doesn't have a chance.
Judy stood up from her seat, stomped over to Nick, and extended her paw. "I expect your bet but if I win, you pay for our date, if I lose you get to choose what I do." She said so fast Nick barley heard.
Nick smirked as a bright idea came into his head. He leaned up to her, ignoring her paw and whispered in her ear. "If I win, you have to wear fox ears to work.." He said slow and smooth, making her ears hot.
"So is it a deal, sweetheart?"
Judy obediently nodded.
"I also want you to walk around, saying that you're a mythical creature. Deal?" He also added.
"D-deal." Judy stuttered out in mere fear of getting laughed at.
Nick kissed her ear and nearly dropped dead laughing when she fell to the ground. "Someone's losing this bet." He teased as Judy groaned from hitting her head.
"Hm...this'll be fun."
XXXX
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Face it whiskers, I won!" Nick cheered triumphantly.
"The bet's not over! Restart!" Judy quickly said, trying to hide the fact that she was blushing.
"Fine, we'll restart." Nick said.
"But you'll lose." He added.
"I won't. I know you're tricks, slick. So if you even try something, I can make you blush too."
"Carrots, I doubt that'll work. My walls are well built. They don't fall to a small bunny like you."
"Wow.." Judy said. "So why go on a date if you're not going to take it seriously?"
"I never said I wasn't going to take it seriously, I said I wouldn't let my walls down for you."
"And why is that?"
"Because you're a bunny." Nick simply said before covering his mouth with his paws.
"So all the stuff you told me wasn't true? Wow Nick, I would've thought you'd be more persistent with out friendship." She said, heading for the door to leave.
"Wait, Judy...I'm sorry."
"Oh I know you'll be. We start work again Monday." She said, exiting the apartment.
Nick watched her leave and let out a laugh devoid of humor. "Why do I always mess up?"
XXXX
Judy entered the bullpen, took her seat on the large chair and waited for chief to come in. She watched as the other officers arm wrestled and played with cards.
Just then, Nick came into her mind.
It's like every time she finally gets the thought of Nick out of her head, it comes back again.
Judy thought about what he had said to her, how he "wouldn't let his walls down for a bunny like her." That statement hurt her. Judy thought that her and Nick were friends and that they could
trust each other, that they'd always be friends.....
Always be friends..?
Judy jumped out of her depressing state and forced a determined look on her face. She tried to forget about the stuff she and Nick had did, the kisses shared. Judy tried to bag the memories up and throw them in the trash but she couldn't. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't forget the memories. They were too much of an impact in her life. Her face softened and she closed her eyes.
Judy felt herself on the brink of tears and hopped off he chair and ran to the door just as Chief Bogo was entering. He looked at the running officer then back at the others who only shrugged.
Running, she went into the women's bathroom a exploded in tears. The thing about that is, she didn't know why. Nick meant alot to her, and every minute of being separated from that fox was agonizing pain to her.
Judy looked at herself in the mirror and sighed, trying her best to suck up her tears and wiped her eyes. She was a mess, crying over someone who doesn't trust her. But in reality, she cried because she wanted to show said person she loved him. Judy's sniffling echoed the bathroom and a voice was heard.
"Judy?" The voice said.
Judy turned around to see a wolf officer approach her. "Is... everything okay?" The officer asked.
Judy wiped her eyes once again and nodded. "Y-yeah, just dealing with personal issues."
The wolf nodded back in reply and washed her paws. "Well, I hope you feel better. Do you want me to tell Bogo you need a break?"
"Yes please."
The wolf patted Judy on the back before leaving. Judy sat down against a wall and pulled her knees to her chest. She put her head in her knees and sighed.
I just need to think..
XXXX
Like most bathrooms, the men and women's were separated by a wall. It kinda gets you thinking.
Think of the bathrooms as Nick and Judy. Both used the same for certain reasons, they both have a connection in some way. Then again, like all bathrooms, there's a wall.
That wall is what separates Nick from Judy. Nick wouldn't let his walls down and now this happened. They are balancing on the thin line between friends and enemies. But the thing that is making them seem like enemies is only because Nick insulted Judy. Not only that, but right after she had gotten bullied.
It was that right there that had put up another wall. This wall was on Judy's side now. She balled up her emotions and decided to wash them down the same drain her tears went down. She was done playing good cop! It's bad cop against bad cop, Hopps against Wilde.
And she wasn't going to be the one crying home....
Speaking of crying, you know the talk about the wall in the bathroom? Well guess who's on the other side of the wall?
Nick wiped his eyes then his muzzle and breathed in. He was leaning against the bathroom wall, trying to come to his senses.
Why am I overreacting about a stupid little argument!?
Nick sighed and walked up to the sink with a mirror attached to it. He then washed his face and dried it before leaving.
Entering the bullpen, Nick found his seat and noticed Judy wasn't in the room. He was about to ask chief Bogo where she was when He spoke.
"Wilde, I need you on parking duty today, officer Hopps will be taking back break." He said, holding up the small yellow vest.
Nick raised arm eyebrow and nodded. He went to Clawhauser to hear him talking to a wolf.
"Yeah, I heard her crying in the bathroom. I wonder what happened." The wolf who was a female said to the cheetah.
"I bet it has something to do with-ooh.....hi Nick.." Clawhauser nervously said.
"Hi."
"Well....I-uh better get going.." the wolf officer said before running to her office.
Nick glared at the cheetah who was nervously tapping his claws on his desk and avoiding eye contact with Nick. They stayed like that for five minutes before Clawhauser spoke.
"Soooo....Nick-"
"What the hell were you talking about?" Nick cut the cheetah off.
"Oh, umm Officer Clawdia was just talking about how she heard Judy crying in the bathroom."
Nick's expression softened and he sighed. "Did she know what happened to her?"
"No, that's all she knew. Do you have an idea why she was crying?"
"Ugh...probably because of what I said." Nick leaned on the desk and placed his head in his paws.
"If you don't mind me asking, what did you say?" Clawhauser bit into a doughnut shortly after speaking.
"I told her I wouldn't let my walls down for a bunny like her."
Clawhauser almost choked on his doughnut. "Nick, you basically just told her you don't trust her! Why would you do that?!"
Nick shook his head. "I-I don't know. I didn't know she'd be so affected by it-"
Nick was cut off by a simple "Hello," from a grey bunny next to him. But she wasn't talking to Nick, she was talking to Clawhauser.
"H-hi Judy." Clawhauser said.
Nick glanced at the bunny who didn't even attempt to look at him. He decided to talk to her.
"Hey Judy-"
"Hi Nick." She answered quickly, hoping to end the conversation quickly as well.
"I uh...I just wanted to say that I'm sorry."
"Oh, I know you will be." She said, deadpan.
"You most definitely will be sorry.." She walked away.
"It's time I play bad cop too."
