Soryu's PoV
My... daughter...? Yui?
While I was still trying to let things sink in, which they clearly have not, Arian was standing beside me, doing all sorts of gestures indicating that she's nervous as hell.
Biting on her lip, her fingers were twisted together and she was rocking on her feet.
Flashback of all those times that the guys were just randomly rambling around about how Yui looked so much like me actually made perfect sense now. Even a passerby can see that we're related in a way or another, how come I wasn't able to?
The thought of Arian being pregnant just never occurred to me, I guess.
Dead silent went on for minutes, and I still wasn't able to comprehend my situation.
"S-So... s-she's my..." I couldn't go on.
"Yui's your flesh and blood, Soryu. She's our daughter." Arian murmured, finally able to look me in the eyes.
"Ah shoot!" I suddenly remembered something, "and I've just let her run off!"
As if it's just occurred to her too, she gasped and started dashing towards the door.
On our way through the crowd, Arian told me their story.
"Four months ago... almost five now, she suddenly didn't come home one day two hours after school was supposed to end. I made sure there weren't any special occasions or festivals whatsoever at their school before calling her." Arian started as we both looked around anxiously for Yui.
"And...it showed that...her number didn't exist.... So I tried phoning the school, and all I knew was that the principal saying 'Yui Oh graduated early in straight A's'. And they had my signature on a guardian acknowledge form! I had no idea how Yui managed to do that but she did. Without a single word, she disappeared. At first all that came to me was panic, the first thing that came to mind was that she got kidnapped or something. But then I found that note in her room." She was breathing a bit rapidly now, I rubbed her back to calm her down.
"She told me not to look for her, and her trademark line, 'I know what I'm doing'. She said she's afraid that they'll find me." She frowned a bit. Who the heck are 'they'?
"That was all.... But of course I can't just sit there and do nothing... I needed help...."
She stopped there. And I understood what she meant. To not alarm the police, she asked Kishi for help in private. Didn't she trust me for that...?
She can be a klutz at times, and this was the stupidest thing she could ever do.
But when I turn to her, the fire just dies down completely. I can never stay mad at her....
I pull her into an embrace, "don't ever do that again." I whispered, "You know you can always rely on me, right?"
"Yes... I'm so, so sorry...." She returned the hug immediately, burying her face into my chest.
"But right now," I slowly let go of her, "we need to find Yui."
She nodded quickly, before we can even continue our mini search party, the crowd opened for two people running through and... it's Mei Ling and Li Yan. What're they doing--hold on, I wasn't even informed that they were out!
"Soryu--! Thank god..." Li Yan breathed as they came to a halt in front of me. They were both out of breath, seeming to be running for a long time now.
"It's... Yui, s-she's been... taken away...." Mei Ling stood up straight, "we were at the shopping streets, and I was stupid enough to suggest taking a shortcut, it's my fault that she was caught trying to cover for us."
"WHAT?!!" Arian reacted before I did.
"Eh?" Mei Ling just then spotted her, "A-Arian? You're back!"
They shared a quick smile before I went down to business, "any idea who they are?"
They both shook their heads. I ask again, "where?"
At the crime scene. I investigated the place for a bit, and I found two bullet shells on the concrete ground. Then there was a black cloth on the ground, it was contained with ecstasy. The cloth had a sign on it.
"...I know who it is." I sighed in frustration, standing back up, "it's our old enemy that I know all too well now."
Daryl's PoV
That look in her eyes... it was as if she was piercing through me six feet away.
It wasn't the first or second time a girl has given me that look full of rage, and it never made me feel the slightest bit of guilt or waver, but the strong sense of betrayal Yui was hiding behind the rage was clear to me, even though she blinked it away after a second.
Overwhelming sense of regret was flooding me, and the dam I built for that was barely blocking it from invading my mind.
I broke our eye contact. If I looked at her longer, I'd definitely break.
"Heh." Her small chuckle caught my attention as she held a mocking smile on her face, she shook her head as she said, "I can't believe I've been so gullible. I admit, you got me. I let down my guard."
Those words stung me badly, but I know I deserved it.
She surveyed my room, which was normal until you see the glass shelf filled with guns inside. Those are my prized collections.
I don't know what to say... what can I say?
She wasn't dumb, the exact opposite for that matter, she's probably figured out her position already. The only question now was what father was planning for her.
And even I didn't know that.
So far the plan was to use her as threat to the Ice Dragons, but I doubt father is going to let her go under any circumstances....
What have I done...?
I put a hand over my eyes to control the boiling emotions in me. Rationality always came first for me, but right now I think those damn feelings are taking over.
Yui's PoV
I can't believe how stupid and idiotic I've been. I've let personal feelings get in the way.
I'm desperately denying it, but I'm feeling betrayal over any other emotion. Ugh, my heart aches. He's punching it.
Let's see, the Ice Dragon's arch enemy has captured me, in order to threaten Ice Dragons' leader, which is basically my dad now, but I really doubt he'll do anything about it.
I've met my dad.
Hope was the least I'm feeling. I've learned the hard way--once again--that no one is reliable but yourself. Rely on no one. They're not dependable. There are too many backstabbers out there that it's just too risky to try to trust someone for once.
That's why I'm gonna get outta here myself.
I surveyed his room. I bet the glasses are bullet proof. That means breaking out through the windows when he's not here isn't an option. I glanced around. There's an alarm by his bedroom door, what the heck. I don't know how he sets it up but it goes off if I try to escape the normal way.
I bet there are cameras all over this house, wherever I am.
"If you're thinking of ways to escape, there's no chance." I turn my gaze to Daryl, mustering my best angry manner.
"No room for you to talk here." My tone came out harsher than I thought.
Good. His brows knitted together tighter. He's trying to look irritated, but I can sense the slight guilt radiating off him. Emotions aren't that easy to contain, he should know.
"You've got quite a temper and attitude considering your situation." He sat down on his bed, which was right near where my hands were bind on a bed post. I wanted to kick him in the stomach but I can't move.
"Says the one who plays with girls' feelings to achieve his selfish goals." I shot back, not caring if he might feel hurt of the harshness of my voice. I really couldn't careless at this moment. All I could think of was the guiltier he felt, the better.
He flinched at the word 'selfish'. I felt bad for an instant but decided he deserved it.
"This is not for me." He murmured in a hardly audible voice.
"Not for you?" I mocked, getting overly bitter, "what is it? Gold? Money? More Territory?"
"Don't say that when you don't understand others' situation!" his voice raised as he stood up, towering over me. His voice startled me a little, but I'm not prepared to back down.
"Oh yeah? How well do you understand mine?!"
We argued back and forth, our voices raising each time.
"Fine! My mother was murdered when I was six, I need to do this for her! There, happy now?"
I froze at his words. After multiple times of taunting, he finally blurted out his real reason. I honestly thought he was just another one of those mafias who go after richness.
I stared at him with wide eyes, as if a kid who just said the wrong thing, and he stared right back. Only our breathing was heard.
"S-So, everything you've done, is for her revenge...?" I muster up the courage to ask.
"Basically, yes. It's the only way I can work myself up, but my father still doesn't approve of it." He breathed.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have accused you." I whispered and looked down. I shouldn't be insensitive about his family matters when I've got the same problems.
I felt his gaze on the top of my head until he pulled my face up, and covered my lips with his.
Catching me by complete surprise, and that I'm bind, he proceed to part my lips with his tongue. The kiss is as deep as the first one we shared.
I forgot to resist and even began to respond until I remember he's supposed to be my family's enemy, I snapped out of it and started squirming.
I bit his bottom lip with all my might, successfully making him realize what he was doing.
"You don't need to do that anymore," I say coldly to warn him off, "you already got your 'target'."
His eyes continued to search mine for a few seconds. I made sure I showed no waver or hesitance to him.
"Right." He whispered, finally looking away. I looked at his bleeding lip and gulped the metallic taste of blood in my own mouth. Suddenly I had the urge to suck on it. I turned my head away. I need to block the slight lingering affection I still have for him.
I swallow in order to calm down. Everything's over, Yui, he used you. That's all.
"Go to sleep, it's almost midnight." He said, about to go into his bathroom.
"While standing?" I shot back.
"There's only one bed, and you ain't getting outta this room." He gave me a look, and I know fully well that I'd rather stay like this. I shuffled back down and sat on the floor, gave him one last glare, then tucked my head down away from him.
Probably exhausted from all the events, sleep quickly came to me even though I shouldn't be feeling relaxed at all.
Arian's PoV
We searched around the area. Apparently, one of the Ice Dragons' arch enemies, the Golden Phoenix, has got Yui. And Soryu's conclusions are never wrong.
"I can locate their headquarters, but we can't just barge in. After all, we're not even sure where they're keeping her." Soryu said, his expression serious.
"I can ask daddy for help...." Mei Ling started to say, but Soryu shook his head.
"This is my private business, I don't want the Bell Crickets involved. Right now, our best option is to sneak in at night, but that's hardly possible," Soryu said, frowning even more, if that was possible, "mafia buildings constantly have guards around for safety reasons, even more so at the dead of night."
I felt so useless to the inner mafia talk Mei Ling and Soryu are sharing. Yui... are you okay...? We're coming to get you... no matter what....
