I didn't want to say this again but some people just leave me no choice. There isn't a single chapter in this book that has less than 30 votes, yet the last one had only 23?
Please keep reading this message.
....
My mother is kind of pushing me to quit Wattpad, since it's not much help for my formal writing. The first thing that came to mind was that it's not fair for the readers that I discontinue all my works in the middle of it.
Thanks for the encouragement, really. 23 votes is totally acceptable. I thought this was my personal problem that nobody probably wanted to hear, but I guess if I quit people will move on eventually, the earth won't stop turning.
I'm sincerely grateful to the people who voted on the last chapter, for those who didn't and are continuing to read this chapter:
FLIP BACK THERE AND VOTE RIGHT NOW.
Go ahead, I'll wait.
You voted yet? Good.
Don't lie to me.
From now on, I'm blocking people who comments like "amazing! Can't wait for the next update!" and then doesn't vote.
I'm sorry for wasting your time.

Jayden's PoV
After continuing to feel guilty for two more hours, I finally inspected the profiles Kyoko shoved to me.
None of them were her.
'These are all the girls in the Academy?'
I texted Kyoko, and remembered to delete my message from my phone after sending it. She never replied. I guess she's asleep after this tiring day.
"I'm gonna get some dinner." I said as I jumped off my top bunk onto the concrete ground, "See you guys in an hour or so."
I wondered the streets of Tokyo, not entirely sure what I should get. Since I'm at the place, maybe I'll tend to some ramen or sushi?
♪I can't remember to forget you oh oh oh ohhh oh♪
An English song? I stopped in my tracks and tried to hear where the sound source was.
♪I keep forgetting I should let you go♪
My gaze snapped to a bar that's across the street.
♪But when you look at me
The only memory is us kissing in the moonlight♪
(Can't Remember to Forget You – Shakira/Rihanna)
I opened the door to the sea-blue and dark theme bar. Everyone around were turned towards a large stage at the back, where flashes of colorful lights illuminated a lead singer.
She had a beautiful voice.
The darkness and blinding flash lights prevents me from seeing her face, but the occasional glances are good enough. I can at least say... she looks like her.
I waited desperately until the current song ended. But unlike most concerts, the light doesn't shine on her after the song ends, it only got completely dark.
The audience started chanting encore.
Just then I realized I was frozen in place.
Through the dim lightings and her shadow, I can see her take an electric guitar.
The next song started with light dings from probably a soprano xylophone.
As she started playing the electric guitar to the first few notes, I realize the song was Blank Space.
♪Nice to meet you, where've you been? I can show you incredible things♪
Amazing... she's playing full notes while singing as well.
The crowd cheered at the bridge of the song. I would too if I weren't so awe-struck.
♪I've got a blank space baby~ And I'll write your name♪
The audience's applause shook me awake. When I focused my gaze onto the stage again, the singer was already gone.
I looked around. I could barely see the interior since my eyes haven't adjusted to the dimness in the bar yet. Understandably, I never saw her again.
I went up to the bartender and asked them if they knew who that performer was.
"No idea. She just showed up and said she'll perform in place of our injured singer as long as we keep her face hidden and give her a glass of water." The bartender answers vaguely as he continued cleaning glasses.
"I see, thank you." I sighed as I turned around. Maybe she's still at back stage.
I ran around the left side of the bar table towards the stage, meanwhile, I missed the girl who walked right past the right side of the bar table and out the door, carrying a white guitar case.
"Excuse me, do you know who that singer and guitarist just now is?" I asked at least twenty people, but no one had a single clue. Not even any of the customers.
At last, I got to the woman who owns the bar.
"I'm sorry, I really wish I could help you, but I don't know either." She smiled apologetically, her fashion was very chic and she looked around her late twenties, "My name is Rin, by the way."
"Jayden." I shook her hand, "Sorry for troubling you."
Third person's point of view
As soon as Jayden left the bar dejectedly, Rin's phone rang.
She glanced, just making sure Jayden left before picking up, "Hello, Hoshimi?"
Rin glances at the door again as the person on the other end of the person spoke.
"Yes, a boy named Jayden came by, just like you suspected. He does stand out, doesn't he?" Rin smiles as she said. "Are you sure you just want to avoid him?"
On the other end, Hoshimi hesitated, "...Yeah, he'll get bored once he can't find me for a week or so."
Kyoko's PoV
The next morning, I woke at 4am since I slept very early. I patted the space beside me and soon found my phone.
'Are these all the girls in the Academy?' Jayden texted.
'Yes. Are none of them who you're looking for?' I respond, already knowing the answer. I clicked shut my phone and put it beside my pillow, not expecting him to reply any time soon. However, the special tone chimed not a minute after.
'Nope. I don't think she goes here.'
I was both annoyed and relieved. Annoyed because now I have the entire city to search from, possibly the entire country. But also relieved that now this'll take much longer than a few days, therefore he has no choice but the keep his side of the deal.
I started entering text: 'are you sure you don't want to give up?'
But before I could send it, he sent me a message first.
'In case you want to ask, I'm definitely not giving up on her.'
I sneered, then deleted my typed-up message.
'Alright then, I'll start looking in a bigger field than just this school.'
And sent. Then, delete conversation.
Hold on. Why's he up at four am? He didn't look at all worn out after today's training, which means he must play a sport or be an athlete.
If he isn't tired, it can only be insomnia. And so far, the only big issue that's on his mind is this girl he's looking for.
...Is he as serious as to go sleep deprived thinking about her?
No. I quickly reject the idea in my head. He's probably picturing a much more perfect figure than the person. After all, distance causes beauty.
Besides, maybe he just got woke up by the text ring tone.
Since I had nothing else to do, I sat up and opened my laptop.
I looked at the photo Jayden sent me, it was slightly blurry, but I can make out the figure of the girl standing beside him. She had long black hair like he described, and she was wearing a natural colored skirt with a white side bag.
That kind of bag.... I searched it up.
Holy crap it's expensive. I looked back at the photo. Everything on her looked expensive, she looked rather upper-class when I really inspected her appearance.
Either she's a young owner of a business of some sort, or the child of a wealthy family. I narrowed down to those two categories.
If she's around Jayden's age, she shouldn't be any older than a college student, so the business one is less likely.
I jot down those two points on a sticky note and stuck it on my table.
Prestigious families keep their information even more secure. This is gonna be hard.
Who might know wealthy people...?
Jayden's PoV
I only slept for three hours before I gave up because I was constantly waking up.
I stared up at the ceiling that suddenly became very intriguing to me.
~Flashback~
We ordered two glasses of water as we sat on a deck beside the beach. The wind blew in her hair as she folded a piece behind her ear.
She looked at me questioningly when I took out a piece of candy from my pocket, unwrapped it, and dropped it into the glass of water.
I smiled at her, "water is too plain, I like to put a piece of candy to make it sweeter."
Amusement flashed in her eyes before she nodded and gave me a small smile back.
"Wanna try?" I asked, not wanting to let silence envelope us.
I dropped a piece of strawberry hard candy into her glass before she could respond.
She twirled the glass slightly before taking a sip, her actions were naturally dignified and regal as she laughed a little, "This is nice."
"Right?" I continued speaking, with her saying something once in a while.
~end~
That was just one of the many memories we had together. I'm sure they at least weren't nothing to her.
I slugged around until it was time to get up and gather at the auditorium.
"Today is your first assignment." Director says, "it's a very simple imagined case, it's to test if you're really detective material or are some of you just plain paper work."
Damn. I somehow miraculously passed the entrance exam, but only because I crammed in the things I researched probably will be on the exam. I've got a pretty good memory.
As he explained the details of the assignment, and how he'll pair us up into pairs, my mind trailed off again.
Good memory, horrible attention span.
I completely zoned out during his announcement of the pairs.
I snapped out when everybody stared shuffling around the auditorium, looking for their partner. Um, who am I paired up with?
I scanned the area, no one seems to be heading towards me.
Just then, a folder slapped my arm.
"Hiya, I'm stuck with you again." Kyoko slid in front of me, a yellow folder—probably the assignment—in her hands, "did you even hear a single word he said?"
I shook my head sheepishly, "Nope...."
"Whatever. I'm not getting a bad grade just because my partner doesn't know how to do anything." She flipped the folder open, "I'll do the investigating and you... whatever that might come up."
I was about to ask if I could look for her when we come across files, but she beat me to it.
"We'll have access to personal files, so look all you like." She says, "I figured the girl you're looking for can't be older than college age and most likely is the child of a wealthy, prestigious family."
I blinked at her deduction abilities, if she can narrow it down that much with only a single photo, she can definitely find her in no time.
"Thanks so much, Kyoko!" Distinctively, I gave her a quick hug around the shoulders. Tension shot through her as I did so and genuine surprise showed on her face clear as day.
I didn't notice how tense she was and still grabbed onto her shoulders after I pulled back.
"You're awesome. I knew I could count on you!"
Past Kyoko's completely shocked face, I saw Yoshiro will his jaw dropped and Taku with wide eyes.
Just then, I realized the entire room was looking at me. Or at us, for the matter.
