Baba-three

Baba's PoV

"Have a nice day!" I said and waved after I've dropped Miki off at her school. It's been a long time since I've ridden a bike. I honestly never thought it was that school. Only the best of the best could pass the exams to get in there. I heard the people who owns this school are even great business partners with Eisuke.

Taking out my phone, I checked my daily horoscopes.

"Today's a bad day...so is the rest of the week for Leo...well then, I'll steal it this Sunday!"

There was this famous portrait painted by an artist way back that a crook has secretly gotten his hands on through black market for more than eighty million yen.

I look up from my phone, Miki's talking to a girl looking about two years older than her with straight, black hair pulled into pig tails. They walked into the building together. Probably her new friend. Well she looks like a nice girl.

Why am I even caring?

I shrugged it off and start walking off to the convenience store, where my first part-time job was.

Miki's PoV

After I've locked my bike, I head to the gates.

Satomi greeted me at the school gate, we have first class on the same floor, so we walk together.

When we were walking down the hallway, everyone seem to be glancing at a particular student, who was packing up his locker.

"Um...what's going on?" I whispered to Satomi, who pulled me away from that guy as if avoiding germs.

"That guy...he was forced expelled, just because he talked back to Nolan!" Satomi says, "He tried to be Mr. Good-guy and stood up to Nolan, but then this was his ending."

"...Nolan...?" I repeated. Have I heard this name somewhere before?

"Yeah! The leader of the three guys here who rules this school, remember? You saw them yesterday."

"Hey, are you telling me that he got expelled just by trying to help everybody in this school?" I say with my eyebrows furrowed, where is justice in this school then?! How're the teachers allowing this?!

"Not always, if it's Asher or Hanazawa, it's usually not this serious of a consequence since they're more mild," Satomi explains to me as I watch the student clean out his locker, "but out of all three, Nolan has the worst temper, so."

I frowned deeper. I've barely met the guy and I already dislike him.

"Hey, hey, hey now!" my expression brightened when the vice-principal came in, he should set things right!

He patted the student on the shoulder, then said: "Remember to not cause trouble and be rebellious at your new school, sport."

What the what.

"Come on, Miki. We'll be late for class." Satomi tugged on my arm, and I walk into my classroom while she went down the hall to hers.

I could barely sit still on my seat. I know don't judge a book by its cover and all that. I'll need to really meet him before I can say that I dislike him. Okay, that's it. Calm down.

They could all be rumours, I mean, maybe that student actually did something really bad but then people are just pinning it on Nolan because his family has power and all that.

I took a deep breath, but then rage flew to me again when I saw it was none other than the vice principal who stood in front of the black board. He was our morality teacher.

Ironic, no?

Class started, everybody quiet down as the vice principal wrote down a big word on the board: Morality

"People need to have morals, ethics, they decide your actions and who you are as a human being..."

I stopped listening after that. You are so not one to talk. A teacher with no morality is teaching us how to be moral? What a joke. If this school didn't offer such high-standard education and great learning environment, what's my reason here?

But it's private schools like this that the teachers are more afraid of the students. Students here more often than not have a very wealthy family background.

During lunch, Satomi and I were eating up on the roof. It was quieter there, no one really goes up there. And the air is fresher as well.

"How come they can be like that? Don't their fathers do something about it? How can everybody just open one eye and close one eye at this?"

"Jeez Miki, calm down." She laughed, "that's because they never do anything themselves. Most of students in the school listen to them either of bribery, or just want to get on their good side. Everyone knows it's them who's behind those pranks and all, but there's never any actual proof."

I sighed. Okay then, as long as I don't see any of those things again, my temper can be in check and I'll graduate here peacefully. Yes, I have much bigger things to worry about than three spoiled brats.

"Do you wanna go?" Satomi put the lid of her bento on, she only ate half, "I'm full."

"Yeah."

We stand up and head down. We were walking down the staircase, chatting along our way as we make it to the first floor, where our lockers were at.

I guess we were a little lost in ourselves as we spoke.

After a turn around, Satomi turned in front of me so she looked up to talk to me. That was when she missed a step and almost fell over. I grabbed her arm and her other hand grabbed onto the railing, stopping her fall. She regained her balance.

"Whew, that was close." I said. But when I looked at Satomi, her eyes and mouth were so wide. And her eyes showed horror.

I looked to where she was looking at.

And I see Nolan at the bottom of this short staircase, the front of his shirt covered with rice and soup, Satomi's bento box was on the ground in front of him. Behind him were whom I assume was Asher and Hanazawa, both of them were shocked frozen as well.

When he raised his head and we made eye contact. I literally visualized a growling lion. Yes, he was that angry.

"I-I-I-I I'm so sorry!" Satomi immediately bowed at his glare.

"Sorry!" I bowed as well. Even though I don't like him, we were at fault in the first place.

He sighed. Just as I was getting relieved that he might be able to forgive us now, Satomi seemed to take it the wrong way and thought that he was even more annoyed. She instantly rushed down while taking out her handkerchief, which she probably really shouldn't have done.

"I-I'll help you c-clean it!" she tried to help clean off the food on his shirt, but it looks like she just agitated him more.

"Go away!" the first time I've heard his voice. It was deep and masculine.

My eyes widened when he pushed her away harshly, she crashed against a wall and almost fell to the ground. I was shocked to the spot.

Nolan brushed his shirt while complaining on how he'll have to go change now. Behind him, Asher laughed. He seemed like the more laid-back guy.

"Shut up." Nolan grumbled, he walked past me, right up the stairs.

"...Stop right there!" before I knew it, the words flew out of my mouth. Just three steps away, he looked at me with his sharp eyes from his shoulder. The other two were just at my height of the stairs, both of them looked at me with...amusement, in their eyes. It was like they were watching a circus show.

"Who do you think you are to push someone like that?! She was just trying to apologize!" I yelled at him, "You bastard, all that money you have, not one cent that you actually earned yourself, what're you smug about?!"

By then, he fully turned back at me. That was when I realize just how intimidating his grey blue eyes could be.

Instead of getting irritated, he smirked at me: "you will regret every single word you've said today."

"Tsk, tsk." Asher shook his head while walking by me, as if saying 'I-will-run-now-and-move-to-a-far-away-country-if-i-were-you'.

Hanazawa just glanced at me while walking by.

I gulp, suddenly regretting it. What exactly will they do..?

"Miki...I'm so sorry." My attention turn back to Satomi, she looked like at the verge of tears as she held her head down. "Now you'll be in serious trouble...and it's all my fault."

I helped her stand still and just smiled even though I have a really bad feeling about this.

"Hey it's alright. What's the worst that could happen?"

~~~
I totally jinxed myself.
I let out a huge sigh. Just by the end of today's school time. I'm already drenched and missed my last class!
When I opened the door to my last class, a bucket of cold water fell on my head. Well, well. So I got out my spare uniform and went to the washroom to change. But the stall door was somehow locked from the outside and it won't open after I changed. I was trapped there until after school, when some girls came to the washroom, opened the door for me.
I guess not everybody knows about how I yelled at Nolan yet. Some people are still helping me. But I bet by tomorrow everybody will start avoiding me.
Urgh..! These jerks! I can't just back down like this..!
I checked my schedule, after I made sure that I was open for the rest of the day, I went to the hospital to visit mom.
After that, I went back to the hotel and up to Baba's suite. I found some things around and gathered everything I needed.
***
The next day. Just as I thought, everybody avoided me like a virus. They all stayed clear. I had a personal space of a 5m radius.
We had a pop quiz that morning in math. It was easy enough, just all multiple choice. I was half way through the quiz until a tiny paper ball flew onto my desk. I looked up. The girl on my right just tossed that onto my desk. Very soon, a guy in front did the same, so did another girl from behind me.
I was confused and stared at the three scrunched up paper in front of me until a shadow lured over them. I watch as the teacher unfold a piece.
His face was stern as he showed me the piece of paper: ACCBDAB
"Those aren't mine--"
"Out of my classroom, now!"
And that is how I ended up roaming the halls instead of going to class.
I slowly opened the door to my next class, and then stepped back. Barely dodging a bucket of flour. Seriously..?
I leaned in close and checked my seat. I ran a finger across it. Yup, there was glue on it. The kind that dries instantly when come in contact with heat. Which, in this case, is body heat.
Lifting up the chair, I carried it to the back and got a clean one.
Lunch bell rang.
I couldn't find Satomi anywhere, usually she'd come to my last class since she often gets out earlier.
I tried calling her, but it always goes to voice mail.
Maybe she's absent today?
I charged into the school's fancy cafeteria, where the food I couldn't even afford. I spot the three 'kings' sitting at the largest table, talking away. Nolan actually looked nice when he's not burning with rage that can practically roast a chicken.
"Hey!" I called out. He turned around, but before getting to have a reaction, I stuck something onto his face: "I'm not gonna just give in like every other people you tortured did, just so you know."
I turned on my heels and walked out without glancing back.
