Soft as Fur, Sharp as Claws (Catman x Reader)

Hilariously enough, this is reposted from my QuoteV account - It's old.

You'd been waiting for Catman to arrive home after his concert for almost two hours at this point. Now, he insisted that you call him Eric, but Catman was the name that instinctively came to mind when you thought of him.

You've loved Kiss for a few months now, having heard of them from a friend. It didn't phase you at first as a band you'd listen to. The side show act was a bit immature at first, with the stage names and the claims of having powers. But it soon grew on you, and so did the famed drummer of the band. At a concert is when the two of you met. The rest of the band thought you were just dating him for the fame of dating a celebrity, but you truly loved Catman, and hoped he loved you just the same. But it wasn't looking very much like it tonight; He was late, again.

Sooner than later, the door unlocked and opened. Catman walked through, now in casual clothing and his face clean of makeup. He looked exhausted, but you knew the same thing would happen like it did everytime; He would be happy to see you and make up an excuse for why he was late.

"Hello, {Y/N}!" Catman called. He walked into the room, smiling brightly. "I'm so sorry I was late. A few fans held me up to take some pictures." He explained. Go figure. It was getting too easy to guess what he would say.

"That was your excuse last time." You pointed out coldly. Catman's smile slowly dropped as you continued, "It always seems to be fans now that hold you up, isn't it, Eric?" Putting a mocking emphasis on his fake name made Catman groan with impatience.

"{Y/N}, it's not an excuse." Catman sighed. "It's really what happened. I wouldn't lie to you, I promise! Where did you think I was?" You didn't want to say the words, but they burned on your tongue; Off with another girl, that's where.

"Does it even occur to you that I'd start to miss you at some point?" You challenged.

Catman seemed to hiss with fury. No, really hiss, like a cat. "What about you?" He replied. "You've never come to another Kiss concert since we started dating! You could be a bit more supportive of what I do."

You instantly stood up from the couch, hands clenched tightly into a fist."Well I'm sorry that I don't have all the money in the world to blow on concert tickets!" You spat back crossly. "I didn't think my hard-earned paycheck had to automatically be spent so you have one more person to look at in a crowd!"

Catman's next words stung like needles. "It's not my fault that your lack of a better home can't even get you enough money on your own!" It was true, when you'd met Catman, you were about to loose your house because you couldn't pay bills, and he knew not to bring it up. You were actually living with Catman now because of it. But although your eyes filled with hurt, he didn't look up and went on. "I know I came home late, but I tried to make it up to you and be nice. But it's really hard when I come home to you being a brat about it!"

Catman finally stopped to take a breath and glanced up at you. When he saw your expression, the light of anger died from his eyes. The both of you knew that he couldn't stand the thought of hurting someone he cared about, whether it was conditional or not. Neither you or Catman knew how to react to where the argument was now, but he soon spoke up.

"{Y/N}, I'm sorry.." He murmured. "I didn't--" You cut him off by holding up a hand. It wasn't going to be like in the movies where the girl suddenly runs off in tears, or holds a childish grudge on her boyfriend forever. He had the strength to apologize now, and that was enough for you.

"I shouldn't have reacted like that when you were late." You explained quietly. Before you had a chance to continue, and before even realizing what was happening, Catman had sat down on the couch - Fallen, more like - And pulled you with him by the waist. His familiar, warm smile returned as you laughed faintly.

"Man, I live for that laugh of yours." He admitted, kissing you on the cheek. You laughed again as he planted several smaller kisses on your cheek playfully.

"Alright, I forgive you." You said, earning an adorabley dopey grin of victory from Catman. You switched on the TV with the remote and spent the rest of the night with Catman, the both of you loving the other's company.
