"So what's the plan?" Ace was saying to his son. You and Ace had decided to take your son Vinnie to his first KISS concert, knowing he now loved the band, and his favorite member was his father. You and Vinnie were allowed to stay backstage while the concert was going on and watch from the best seats in the arena.
"I'm gonna watch you play the guitar!" Vinnie announced, holding up his own electric guitar. You had to smile at how excited he was for this concert.
"And where are you gonna stay?"
"Right here, with mum!"
You looked up at Ace's distrusting expression. "I'll keep an eye on him, hun." You promised. "Don't worry."
"Thanks, Brittany." Ace smiled. He gave you a kiss and knelt down to hug Vinnie, before following the other members of KISS as the announcer shouted their battle cry into the microphone.
"You wanted the best, you got the best!" Vinnie shouted with the man. "The hottest band in the world - KISS!"
"C'mon you," You sighed, laughing and shaking your head faintly as you pulled him farther into the backstage room. "Let's go find a good spot to watch Dad play the guitar."
"But this is a good spot!" Vinnie argued, trying to walk back where he was standing, which was right where the room and the stage met. "I can see Dad perfectly from here!"
"But Dad doesn't want you standing there," You reminded him. "The people in the crowd will see you."
Vinnie let out an annoyed huff as he let you pull him to one of the couches. He sang along quietly to the song they were playing, I Was Made For Lovin' You.
"This song's still your favorite, right?" You asked. "I bet I know why they decided to open with it." You got a small, thoughtful smile out of Vinnie, but that was it.
"I'm gonna go get us some snacks, okay?" You continued. "I may not be back for a while, but the security guards here can help you get into trouble. I'll be right back."
"Okay!" Vinnie nodded as you left the room. Though you felt a little uncomfortable with leaving him alone.
Apparently, you had been gone a little too long for his liking. The band was playing Detroit Rock City when you came back, and had just enough time to watch Vinnie run out onto the stage, guitar in hand. "Goddammit, Vinnie!" You hissed. Of course he didn't hear you, the crowd was far too loud.
He ran up in time for the guitar solo, skidding to a stop right beside Ace, who looked just as surprised as anyone else there. He managed to find an amp to plug his guitar into, and completely stole the show with his solo.
All the notes were correct, but as you watched from the edge of the room, you could only imagine what Ace was about to do to the poor kid. But to your surprise, Ace had a huge grin on his face as he started playing along. Paul didn't even use his guitar when the song called for it, letting them have their moment until Gene's bass brought the song back to normal.
Vinnie played with them for the rest of that song, and the confusion in the crowd was obvious afterwards. But they didn't seem to mind as the band walked backstage for a break, Ace picking his son up onto his shoulders as they walked.
You were absolutely fuming. "Vinnie, I told you to stay back here!" You snapped at him as they arrived. "What were you thinking?!"
"Hey, no worries, Brittany!" Ace said, placing a hand on your shoulder. "He was great up there! But I would have put a little more thought into the entrance there, kiddo."
"That was so much fun!" Vinnie exclaimed. "I wanna do that again!"
"Maybe another time," Ace laughed. "When you're a little older."
All you could do was shake your head and facepalm. Maybe Vinnie would be just like his father one day, but you didn't exactly want that day to be today.
