A World Without Heroes (Fox X Reader) (Mild Violence)
I was out for the day with one of my closest childhood friends, Paul- Well, he went by Eric Carr, now that he'd joined the band KISS. More specifically, for some reason, he always wanted me to call him Fox, after his persona in the band. I wasn't one to judge, but he was always a bit weird. All in good spirit, of course.
Fox was in the middle of one of his stories, which I didn't mind. They always ended up being humorous, anyway. But we were just sitting at a park bench, not really doing anything. "Fox," I cut him off politely. "Didn't you invite me here to do something other than sit?"
"Yeah, I did! I'm just waiting." Fox said. "Ximena, what's your favorite ice cream flavor?"
"Well... Vanilla, I guess." I replied. "Why?"
I saw Fox glance down at a wrist watch he was wearing, before he looked back to me with bright eyes. "That guy with the ice cream cart should be here any minute." He explained.
"Oh, go figure." I said playfully. "Of course your idea was ice cream. C'mon, let's go do something else while we wait."
"Well, alright." Fox agreed. "Like what?"
I looked around the park for a minute, and then noticed a flock of birds in the grass. "Wait here." I said. Fox nodded as I got up and ran off, right through the flock. I turned back to Fox, and just judging by the look on his face, it seemed like a perfect way to pass the time.
We started chasing the birds around the park, I have no idea how long we were doing so. Sure, some people gave us some weird looks, but I didn't care. And I don't think Fox did, either. I decided not to tell him that the ice cream cart had eventually rolled around.
We soon wandered away from the park, both still laughing about the event with the birds in the park. "Okay, that was kind of fun." Fox managed to say. "Maybe I should invite you to the park more often, and we can chase birds all day!"
"Sounds good to me!" I joked. "I'm inviting you next time-"
I cut myself off after hearing something in an alleyway that was close-by, and Fox noticed it, too, when I'd stopped talking. It sounded like two people fighting, but one was clearly winning. "Oh God, do you hear that? I gotta check it out, stay here.." Fox said. Before I could argue, he walked into the alleyway, leaving me there a bit paranoid.
It got to the point where I could hear a third voice shouting; Fox's, clearly. It sounded like one or all of them was getting hurt. Eventually, I couldn't stand waiting anymore, and ran in after them. There was already a man on the ground, he had several wounds on his body. I almost didn't want to believe that the sweet guy I knew had done this, but it was obvious. Fox also had some bruises, not to mention the black eye on him that looked pretty bad, but the other man didn't seem to be in a great condition, and it was fair to say that Fox had beat him.
"Fox, what happened?!" I said quickly. "Who is this on the ground?"
"I think his name is.. Micheal?" Fox replied in a weak tone. "He was beating up a woman that already left." When he said that, I couldn't help but wonder how I didn't see her leave.
"We should go home and get you fixed up.." I murmured. Fox nodded faintly, and I lead him out of the alley, back to my own house.
"I can't help but wonder if those two were dating, Ximena," Fox was telling me about the event as I did my best to dress the wounds on him. "In a way, they really did seem like they were in a relationship. An abusive one, but still."
"Well, either way, I think what you did was really brave." I replied quietly. "You were almost like a hero to that woman, huh?"
"Yeah, I guess so." Fox agreed. "It didn't seem like I was doing much, though." I could hardly believe that he was brushing it off like it was no big deal, but it amazed me and, well, attracted me. He really was that selfless, wasn't he?
"Anyway," Fox continued, standing up as I was trying to help him. "I've gotta go meet the others for a practice in an hour or so."
"But I haven't even finished dressing your wounds-" I began.
Fox cut me off by holding his hand up slightly. "No worries, I'm alright." He promised, giving me a warm smile. I couldn't help but notice that his smile always made me feel good somehow.
Fox caught me completely off guard before he left, he gave me a quick kiss on the lips, and then walked right out of the room. "I'll see you later!" He called, once again leaving me standing there, stunned, and probably blushing faintly. I guess today was a good day after all.
