FINDING A BAGEL SHOP was harder than it seemed in New York.

There were plenty around the place, just finding the perfect one was always tough, especially when it came to Adriana's demands. Had to have the right amount of sesame seeds, the perfect size, a delicate cream cheese, and most importantly: not involved in any scandals.

Rosco TA couldn't risk to have thier name tarnished by accidentally supporting a bad business.

I was careful to find my footing as I strode down the sidewalk, my eyes glued to my phone as I scrolled through Yelp. Bad reviews, suspiciously high reviews, no reviews at all... for christ's sake. As I turned the corner, my finger landed on a shop listing I hadn't seen before. I squinted my eyes, trying to read the reviews.

Weird... judging off of the review, this place was perfect. Not to mention that it was only a few paces in front of me. Shoving my phone back into my pocket, I sprinted the small distance and swung open the door,

The place was cute and well kept, white tiles adorning the walls, decorated with a bright yellow neon sign displaying the shop name. A few people were scattered about the tables, either deeply entranced by their laptops, or sticking their nose in a book. Thank god there was no line.

I approached the counter, digging into my purse for my wallet.

"What can I get for you?" The cashier said, tapping his fingers against the register in front of him.

My eyes were still focused on my purse, struggling to find what I needed. I couldn't remember if I brought my company card with me today, considering the fact that I wasn't supposed to be at work today,

"An everything bagel," I recited from memory, finally pulling out the credit card, "toasted, please, with cream cheese-"

I looked up, locking eyes with the worker in front of me. It didn't seem possible. It couldn't be possible. Yet there he stood, the boy with the brown hair, green eyes, and....rosy lips.

"You!" I gasped, my face struck with disbelief.

The boy who had kissed me on the sidewalk, was now tapping my bagel order into the computer in front of him. He didn't seem phased by my exclamation, but instead looked amused.

"Do you want a drink with that?" He asked, his lip twitching as he tried to hold in a smirk.

"No drink," I frowned, sliding the card across the counter.

"Chips?"

"No."

"Lox?"

"No."

He stared at me for a second, then at the card, then back at me. I didn't know what to feel. I could explode at him and tell him harassment was never okay, but that would take too much of the time I was already running out of.

"How about a kiss?" He grinned, "on the house."

This prick. He didn't give me a chance to respond to his comment, before turning his back on me and shuffling towards the kitchen behind him. I watched silently as he scooped up a few bagels from the glass case, dropping them swiftly into a brown-paper bag.

If Saoirse or Zendaya were here, they'd probably beat the living daylights out of him for what he did. I probably should have done it as well, but for some reason I didn't feel that mad about it any more. I just wanted to get my bagels and go.

"Here," he said, handing the food towards me, "thanks for stopping by."

"You didn't swipe my card," I said, nodding towards the untouched credit I put on the counter.

"Don't worry about it," he nodded, "think of it as a favor for helping me."

"Helping you with what?"

His eyes flickered down to my lips again, but he caught himself and cleared his throat nervously. I didn't remember his name, it was all too rushed this morning, but I didn't want to ask.

"Have a nice day," he said, avoiding the question, "cherry chapstick."

Did he just call me cherry chapstick? I clutched the bag in my hand, snatching up my card and rushing out of the store as fast as I could. The whole situation was strange, I'll admit, but I was about to be late for an emergency meeting. Forgetting about it would be for the best, and moving on with my life as well.

As I crossed another street, my eyes curiously glanced back at the bag in my hands, the food tossing around inside. On the front was a small printed logo, complete with a tiny cartoon bagel:

CHALAMET BAGELS & CO.
