24- To The Future

George and I marched through the corridor, hand in hand, a smile pinned across both of our faces, chins high in the air. It was a new term and we had a new attitude.

Heads turned as we walked by and slurred whispers whizzed past, but we were moving too quick to care, too quick to even notice.

George turned to me, her nose a little crooked now, but her eyes ablaze in light, ablaze in confidence, ablaze in beauty. I wanted to pull her close to me right there and then. In front of everyone, not caring who was looking, who would see. She winked and then led the way through the halls, our hands still clasped together.

"Liss!" A familiar deep voice called, my breath stopped for a moment, could it be? Was it really? I spun round and saw him. Those deep eyes, that cheeky grin looking my way. I dropped George's hand and hurtled towards Joe's dopey grin and jumped into his arms. Wrapping my legs tightly round him.

"You're here! What are you doing here? I thought –" I exclaimed as I squeezed him closer to me.

Carefully, Joe unwrapped me and placed me down, I blushed at my audacity but couldn't stop my toothy grin.

"Calm down you, you'll make the other girls jealous," he smiled over at a group of blonde first years and I gently kicked Joe to get his attention back.

"So you're back? Tell me it's permanent? What about your-"

"Expulsion? Someone put in a good word..." He nodded behind me and George came scuttling over.

"You guys knew and didn't tell me!" I exclaimed as I started to feel irritated at the two of them whilst also wanting  to pull them into a giant bear hug.

"Hey princess," George purred as she wrapped her arms round my shoulder and pulled me close, "we wanted to surprise you."

"Dykes!"

The three of us spun round and faced a spotty, sweating first year, breathing heavily and smirking at us.

Joe stepped forward but I placed my hand on his chest and stepped forward.

"Yeah, and what?"

George stepped forward.

"You got a problem with that pumpkin?"

The mouth breather edged from side to side and stared at us his mouth agape, "er-er..." before sprinting in the other direction.

"Pathetic," George laughed, "I think we can have some fun this term."

"Me too," I said as I pulled those red lips closer to mine, for our a millionth kiss. Or somewhere around that number, but who's counting?
