I gnawed at my hangnail constantly, my eyes shifting from Susie, Luke, Joe then back to Susie. I couldn't keep my eyes on Joe because every time I looked in his direction he was already looking at me. Eagerly gazing in my direction like a little puppy. Luke had his arm wrapped tightly around Susie's shoulders, as always. I'm surprised they don't just become conjoined twins and be done with it. They can't even take two steps without one of them being attached to the other. I looked back at my phone, no messages. When will she get here? What will I do when she arrives? I need to tell them something...

Susie slurped her slushy loudly as I twitched from foot to foot.

"Everything alright kiddo?" Joe asked as he edged closer to me and nudged my arm.

I backed away.

"I'm fine Joe," I said before turning to Susie, "so what film do we want to see?"

"Weellll," Susie had taken to dragging out her vowels at this point, it made you sound adult- apparently, "there's a horror movie- which will be awful but the boys are desperate to see it."

She got closer and dropped her voice.

"I think Joe just wants to get close to you."

Joe beamed at me and edged a little closer. Susie's subtlety working like a charm as always.

Two hands gripped my shoulders and spun me around.

"Hey," George smiled from ear to ear, "so where's the party at?" Her smile got even wider, if that's possible, as she looked from face to face.

She had doc martins on again and the tiniest tartan skirt you could imagine. Her white legs seemed to go on for days and I couldn't help but notice the boys glancing at them.

"Oh- are you- joining us?" Susie managed to splutter between picking her jaw up off the floor.

"Sure am," George smiled again as she put her arm around Luke's shoulder. Wrong move, I thought, as I watched Susie's expression freeze. Luke smiled goofily to himself before shuffling out of George's arm and scuttling back behind Susie. He's well trained at least.

"I invited her," I managed to say as I tried to get closer to George.

Joe frowned for a moment and looked from me to George, then shrugged.

"Well, George, right?" Joe asked, "Are you siding with me and agreeing on Zombie Killers, or, is your taste more, how can I put it, geeky girl gets the guy. Or in other words films with awful actors in."

"Definitely Zombies," she said and Joe grinned before turning to me and nodding in approval.

"However," George continued, her huge grin dropping to a wry smile that made my insides leap, "I have another option, if you're interested."

She opened her black rucksack just an inch, but we could all see what was inside. Dope. And a bucket load of it.

Susie pouted and went to speak, but before she could Luke and Joe were marching out of the cinema with George. That's one way to make friends. Susie turned to me then, her face full of contempt.

"Why the hell did you invite her?"

I bit my lip.

"She has weed, alright? I thought it would be fun."

She pouted at me once more but then her gaze dropped.

"I suppose," she spat before flouncing after the boys.

This better work out George. For my sake.
