Evelyn

"Eve.. It's okay. I forwarded that scene already, you can open your eyes now" I heard Duke saying beside me making me to uncover my face.

We're sitting in living room at my home, watching The Conjuring 2. I insisted to watch something like friends with benefits or notebook but Duke and James had other ideas to scare us. Cathy, Julia voted to me while Duke and james protested. Now, here I am watching the horror film with my friends.

"No duke. Don't try to fool me, you said this earlier and made me to scream seeing ghost in previous scene" I said shaking my head. I didn't remove my palms from my face.

"Will you open your eyes or should I increase the volume?" he threatened me.

"No way, you're not going to do that. I'll kill you"

"Will you guys just switch to another movie?" Julia asked beside me.

"Yes. It's too scaring Duke" I heard cathy saying.

"Okay. I switched off, you guys can open your eyes" I slowly opened and the next moment I saw the ghost appearing behind the woman. I screamed and ran upstairs to my room, cathy and Julia followed me. We heard laughs coming from downstairs.

After sometime, they called us asking if we want our food deliver to home or should we go out. We chose to go out, Duke brought his car. James and Duke sat in front and we three occupied back seat. Within fifteen minutes we reached burger king, we went inside and ordered food. We hang out for awhile and decided to leave.

I got down from the car and bid byes to my friends. I saw my mom's car parked inside. I knocked on the front door, she came and opened it. I hugged her tightly, she patted my back and we pulled away.

"Dinner is ready Eve. I ate already, I'm tired and I've to take a nap because of early duty tomorrow. You take food and go to sleep. Okay!" she smiled and went to her room.

I ran upstairs and took a shower. I changed into shorts and loose top, I went down and ate my food. I watched a movie in Netflix and went to sleep sulking because I've to go to school tomorrow because its Monday again!

I heard horn sounds coming from outside. I ignored and continued to eat my pancakes.

"Baby, Duke's here" mom came from work an hour before I woke up.

"I know mom" I said without seeing her face.

"You'll be late to school darling, go now he's waiting for almost ten minutes" mom said grabbing my plate. I stared at her wide eyed because she threw leftovers in dustbin and literally pushed me out of house. I hoped into the passenger seat and saw Duke giving me a serious look.

"Because of you I didn't have my breakfast!" I yelled at him.

"What? Because of me?why don't you eat and come, you already know that I'll be waiting till you come outside right?"  he said starting ignition.

I huffed loudly and turned my head to window. We reached school and I got down before him. He called me but I kept running ignoring him. I went to class and saw cathy chatting with someone on phone.

"Good morning" I greeted her.

"Hey Eve. Good morning"

"Who are you chatting with?" I asked turning to her.

"No one. Just my cousin" I nodded and saw the classroom already filled with students I didn't see Julia anywhere. Just then she entered and placing a granula bar with a note on my desk she left our classroom before I can greet her.

'For you Evelyn' It read. I recognized that its Duke's handwriting. I smiled at it and started munching the bar.

"Why doesn't he came directly?" Cathy asked.

"He's having elective class now" She nodded and soon we stopped talking because Mr Marcus started with his topic.

At lunchtime I stayed back because principal called me to talk about my injuries I got a month back. He asked questions like how are you, can you able to walk now without crutches, any problems at home blah blah blah..

I answered all of them patiently and took my leave. I made my way to stairs and started taking steps down but then I stumbled because of my undone shoelaces and was about to fall but then stopped.I felt strong arms around my waist holding me in place, I whipped my head to left and came face to face with a hard chest, he helped me to stand straight I adjusted my floral top and bag on my shoulder. I then lifted my head and saw brown eyes staring at me in amusement. I gasped as I saw him standing there with his glory. He wore tight white tshirt and ripped jeans. I stood there staring at him, saving his flawless face in my mind.

"Are you okay?" He asked eying me. I just nodded at him.

"Well, good for you"  he gave a smirk and walked past me. I took few steps and stopped hearing his words.

"How's your leg Evelyn?" I turned to him in shock.

How did he know about my injury? Wait.. How does he know my name?

I didn't answer him, he kept looking at me with those brown orbs.

"I can see, you already recovered"  he smiled and walked away humming some tune.

After thinking for awhile I realized that, his voice, it's the same voice I heard on that day.

Then, this fellow. He's my savior!
