Chapter4

Evelyn

I haven't told anyone about meeting my savior.I spent time with my friends and went to home, after that day I didn't see him at school and also I don't know his name to enquire anyone about him. I scolded myself for not asking his name. Days soon passed by and I'm completely fine now, my mom is more than happy to see me again.

"Hi everyone" I greeted my friends as soon I saw them approaching parking lot where duke parking his car.

"We're going to movie today evening, all of you free your schedules!" Cathy yelled beside me.

"I'm up!" julia and me raised our hands. But duke and james shook their heads.

"What now?" I asked them.

"We've match today" they said together and we frowned. "It's okay cathy, we can go this weekend"  I assured her and all of them nodded agreeing with me. We made our way to class.

I entered class and saw its fully silent. I wondered why and walked to my desk,sat on my chair. Cathy sat beside me, julia went back. I scanned the whole room and still there's no whispering or murmurings. After few minutes, Duke and James entered the class, they were glaring at something or someone behind me. I followed their gaze and saw two boys sitting two rows behind me and were doing the same glaring at my friends. Suddenly the classroom felt suffocating with their hard glares and no one dared to speak.

Duke slowly took steps, approaching me still glaring at the two boys he sat beside me. James did the same and went to occupy a seat beside julia who's grinning seeing something on her phone. I turned to Catherine and gave a questioning gaze, she shrugged and soon the teacher came after bell and started our class.

At lunch hour we three walked to cafeteria, boys no where to see. Taking our trays we went to our usual table, cafe is filled with students shouting, laughs and etc. We started eating while talking about random topics. Cathy told her childhood love story, where she liked a boy who happened to be a gay. After hearing her story julia and me started laughing while she scowled at us. Suddenly the cafe went silence I lifted my head and saw all of them staring at a group of boys who are now entering the cafe.

I recognized two boys earlier in the group were from my class and also a girl which I didn't notice before. One guy had a ring to left ear with dark brown hair, another had a black hair wearing glasses with blue eyes. I stepped on both cathy and Julia's feet to get their attention.

"Who are those?" I whispered

"Trust me, It's better you don't know about them!" Julia snapped at me.

"What are you saying juls?" I asked again.

"The boys from that group are dangerous, they've done so many horrible things which you don't have to know" Cathy replied.

"Ah.. Why so?"

"They're from rich families you know, they'll do whatever they want to do in school for example they've...?" she yelped and glared at julia who's staring at her narrowing her eyes.

I understood that they're hiding something from me. I left the topic because if they wanted to tell me they'll tell right? But I mentally noted to ask Duke about this. We continued to eat and left to class.

As Duke is in basketball team he used to go practice at evening after school. He always insists me to go with him to see practice but I'm not into that, so I used to take bus in the evening to home while Duke will pick me in morning to school.

We're leaving school as it was already 4.30 pm.Julia said she has to attend some birthday party, so she left me with Catherine. I saw a few people watching the game at court and some girls are cheering at them. I heard many of them calling someone's name continously and they're clapping while cheering followed by clicking  pic sounds.

"Who's that?" I wondered to myself.

"You don't know him!? Yeah.. Right, you haven't seen him" Cathy asked in disbelief turning to me. We stopped in tracks, I shook my head.

"Then come on, you have to see our schools heartthrob" she said dragging me towards court. She pushed and went further dragging me, I fake gagged as I breathed in sweaty crowd.  We stopped  outside the barrier, I spotted Duke as soon as I eyed the situation in front of me.  Cathy squeezed my palm gaining my attention, I looked at her and she was smiling and then pointed her finger at something. I looked in that  direction and saw a man dribbling the ball and was moving towards the end line while defending. He then dunked scoring a point resulting the crowd to cheer aloud. I saw Duke cursing something under his breath and they went back to their positions. The man who scored a point is still facing his back to me and  I can't get to see him. He wore a white Jersey with number 1 and last name as Marquis  written on back of it,with white shorts and athletic shoes.

Soon the instructor whistled and they ran to their previous positions. Duke is in opposite team to the man who scored a point. I saw his tattooed arms, they ended upto his elbow. He then turned around while talking to his one of the team Members. I gasped seeing him,

He's.. He's my savior....

He had manly peppered stubble showing his sharp jaw. His eyes are same brown color sparkling with mirth. Finally he had a dashing personality. I drooled watching him play and soon the game over. The crowd dispersed and the players were chuckling and talking while drinking water. I looked down to Cathy and saw her staring at a boy who's sitting beside my savior.

"Come on. Let's go" I said snapping her out of daze.

So he's in basketball team! Wow!

We walked out of the school gate and to the bus stop.  I sat on one of the benches, cathy sat beside me.

"So how is he?"  I gave her whom-you-are-talking-about look  as I know already.

"You know already. Don't act Eve"  she smirked.

"He's handsome and a feast for eyes" I said giving her a cute smile.

"So what's his name?" I asked

"Blake Marquis"  I nodded at her

Blake... Blake. Nice name!

And before I can ask more about him we saw Duke's car stopped in front of us. He rolled down the window and jerked his head telling me to get on. I looked at Cathy and she was looking at same boy earlier, who's getting into the bus. She smiled at me waving, and got into the same bus.

I then jerked my head as I heard a horn sounds. I saw Blake leaving school on his motorbike. I stared at his figure until it was out of my sight.

"Will you get inside or should I drive alone?"

"Coming" I glared at him and got inside, buckling up. We drove from school.
