Chapter Twenty-Two.
After the conversation I had with Lilly I couldn't help but feel uneasy. I've spend hours trying to figure out what I should do when it comes to Harry. I don't even know how to trust him after the warning Lilly gave me. Was it a heads up or a warning? I don't even know.
I think I'm losing my mind with the direction my train of thought is heading. Hannah can't talk to me without interruption from her psycho boyfriend. My mother just found out where I am and I know she's not going to let me be unless I talk to her. Harry is driving me insane with his moods and temper and the way he just comes across as mysterious. He did hit me on the head with the butt of a gun but that was to save me, I suppose. But then again why would he possess a gun and why would he be hanging out with Julian?
Damn it! I need to stop before I go crazy. I hear a slight knock on my door.
"I'm ready to-" it's not who I expected.
"I know you expected Louis but he has an errand to run." Harry informs me without any trace of emotion in his face.
"So who's going to drop me off where I'm going?" I ask in a low voice that almost sounds like a whisper.
"First of all, if you want to go somewhere you have to tell me in advance so I can decide if you'll go or not," he pauses holding up one finger.
"Okay dad," I scoff while rolling my eyes. oh boy.
You really need to learn the art of shutting your mouth Allie! My subconscious steps in.
"What did you say?" he scowls and I sense his temper waiting to just blow up.
"Sorry," I mumble and fidget uncomfortably.
"Two, you will always respond to me when I talk to you,"he holds up another finger while I stay quiet.
"Three, you aren't going out right now since Louis can't accompany you."
"What? No. You can't do this to me." I gaze at him.
"I can and I just did," he begins to walk away but I grab his wrist.
"Harry please, this is important to me. Louis already told you. I wouldn't go if it wasn't." I furrow my eyebrows and pout.
"I'm busy, you can't go by yourself." He snatches his hand back from my loose grip.
"I'll be back I swear, just let me do this. It's only this once I beg you." I urge him more and a weird smile plays on his lips.
"You should beg me more often. It's kinda hot," his smile turns sinister and I grimace at him.
"You're disgusting," that's all that leaves my mouth even though I have more to say.
"Thank you." He starts to walk away and I lose hope. He turns around. "Nick is waiting in the parking lot. He'll drop you off at the location and wait for you, then he'll obviously bring you back."
"The hell's Nick?" I shout gesturing my question with both my hands.
"You're welcome." He disappears in the hallway.
"Ugh!" I can't stand how frustrating he is. I get my stuff and head to the parking lot.
I find this well-built guy in a suit standing beside a smooth white Audi. I gawk at it stopping a few steps from where it is parked. He hurries to get the door for me and let's me in, then hastily goes to his side. After a brief introduction of just stating names I insist on taking shotgun but he doesn't let me. He says that Mr Styles gave strict orders that I take the back seat. Mr Styles, that sounds weirdly good and I replay it in my mind severally.
A few minute of driving brings us to the location. I check my phone one more time to be sure that it was the right address and it is.
I make a small stop at the entrance to compose myself then walk in with all the confidence I could gather. I immediately spot the person waving at me.
"Hello Mother?" A fake smile displays itself.
"I thought you weren't going to come seeing as you ignored my text message," she replies sarcastically as I take my seat.
"It's nice to see you too," I feel annoyed already.
"I already ordered a bottle of champagne, I must celebrate seeing my only daughter," she sips her already half glass. I'm immediately served my own while I shift on the seat nervously. I wonder what she has to say to me.
"Talk mother, I don't have time for chit chat." I inform her while bringing the glass to my mouth.
"You came here to avoid me huh? Well I think this is our Kismet. You can't run away from me sweetheart." She gives me one of those stares that shout evil.
"You have 5 minutes and no I wasn't running away from you," I reply casually.
"I found someone new. Well he's not someone new he's an old love and we rekindled old feelings." she smiles bringing her hand to mine but I pull away before she could touch me.
"Is this what you couldn't tell me over phone?" I grit my teeth and close my eyes trying to calm myself.
"He proposed, and I said yes. We're getting married soon!" She squeals in excitement but I push my chair behind trying to get up because I can't stand this bullshit.
"Please don't go." She grabs my hand. She actually used the word please. Wow.
"Why? So that you can ask me to come back to your house and pretend that it's home? So that we can play happy family with another moron trying to be dad?" my voice shoots up earning me stares from the people around. I down my glass of champagne and put it back on the table.
"You're going to cause a scene Allison," she says through her teeth the continues, "Have you been taking your medication?"
"Wow MOM! Okay you need the medication, and also, you need to stay away from me. I already know the things you thought I never would!" I speak through my teeth too curving my fists into balls.
"Okay calm down. Let me finish." She softens her voice. "He lives here in LA and I decided to move in with him. Then I tracked you down and found you here. Must really be fate Princess."
Fuck my life!
"Don't call me that." I run my hand through my hair in frustration.
"You really should consider your medication," she barely finishes her sentence when I get up.
"It's your fault!" I hold on to my bag ready to leave. I regret coming to meet her with every ounce of my being.
"At least tell me where you're staying," she gets up and it makes me feel like she's challenging me.
"With people who care. Enjoy your dinner Mother." With that I walk away feeling steam escaping my eyes. I stay quiet the whole drive back to Harry's.
***
HARRY.
I heard her get back almost an hour ago. Her meeting with her mom didn't take long just as she promised it wouldn't. I wonder why her mother suddenly showed up in LA. If I remember correctly she did mention that she wasn't in good terms with her when I met her in New Orleans.
Turning the knob slowly, I push the door open and peek inside just as I've been doing every night since I realised she doesn't lock her door. I stop dead in my tracks when I see her seated in the middle of her bed staring at nothing with tears in her eyes.
"Stop," she whispers. What?
"Allie? Kitten?" I call her but she doesn't respond.
"You're hurting her," she whispers again and now I'm freaking out. Who's she talking to?
"Hey," I snap my fingers and wave before her eyes but she doesn't blink. She's in some sort of trance. I shake her but she doesn't snap out of it. Fuck!
She let's out a shrill cry, scaring the fuck out of me and making me land on my ass. She's still fixing her stare into nothingness but more tears are streaming down her cheeks. Her expression spells out pure fear.
AN:
I've thought about this and I'm recasting Laura(Allie's mom). The role was initially played by Elizabeth Banks but now I've decided to change it to Tricia Helfer. I feel that she'd bring out more of the character. Check her out in the image at the beginning of the chapter.
