1. Kise Ryouta: Just You and Me
1. Kise Ryouta: Just You and Me
You paled, staring up at the rollercoaster in absolute terror. It had two loop-de-loops, went backwards, and soared over the whole carnival. There was no way in hell you were going on that. However, it seemed like the rest of your group had already donned it as the next ride everyone was to go on and you were about ready to burst into tears. Just being near it gave you an adrenaline rush and you were about two minutes away from passing out.
The blonde next to you seemed to notice your discomfort and draped an arm around you. “Ne, (Y/N)cchi, are you okay?”
“No,” you moaned. You pressed your head against his shoulder and breathed in his cologne and the scent began to help you calm down. “I really don’t want to go on this, Ryo-chan.”
“It’s okay,” He cooed. “I’m scared to go on the rollercoaster, too. Let’s just leave when they’re turned around and go somewhere else.”
You nodded and gripped onto his arm and watched as the rest of the Generation of Miracles (along with Momoi and Kuroko) chatted with each other. When the line moved up, they all turned away and Kise quickly pulled you by your hand along with him out of the crowd and away from the rollercoaster. You sighed in relief and thought you were in the clear and realized Kise was still holding your hand. Blushing, you decided not to mention it and continued to walk with him side-by-side with your hands slightly swaying.
“What do you want to do now, (Y/N)cchi?” Kise asked, giving you a bright smile.
Other rides ran through your mind until your stomach gave out its very own whale song and you giggled, trying to hide your embarrassment. “I’m a little hungry, I guess,”
“Then let’s go get food~” Kise chirped.
You nodded in agreement as he led you around the carnival, buying the two of you various treats ranging from shaved ice to hotdogs. Despite your protesting that you could pay for your own snacks, Kise waved his hand and insisted that he had more than enough money to go around. Once you were down with your smoothie, you went to throw it away when something caught your eye. You turned over to the booth and saw a chibi (F/A/C) plushy hanging on the price rack. A soft gasp escaped you and you went to closer and your heart dropped; the game was to shoot as many hoops as you could in one minute and depending on how many points you scored, it decided on your prize. (F/A/C) was twenty points and there was no way you would be able to score that much.
Kise saw you staring longingly at the chibi (F/A/C) plushy and smirked when he saw the game. “I can get that for you, (Y/N)cchi.”
“You don’t have to. You’ve already paid for all the food, Ryouta. I can’t ask you to get me that (F/A/C) plushy.” You protested, frowning. He was making you feel guilty like you were using him.
“It’s fine,” he insisted. The blonde turned towards the man running the booth and handed him a dollar bill. “I’ll play, Sir!”
“Shoot as many points as you can in one minute.” The man replied, taking the bill and passing over a basketball in return.
Kise nodded and took a shooting position and then the timer started. You and the man gaped at the Copycat as he scored shot after shot effortlessly. He just smirked and sent you a wink with his final shot that made your cheeks grow warm. By the time the minute was over, Kise had more than enough points to get any prize he wanted on the rack.
“I’ll take that one~” Kise sang, pointing to the chibi (F/A/C) plushy.
The man quickly grabbed it and handed it over to him. “Here you go,”
“Thank you!” You giggled, hugging it to your chest.
A sudden burst of confidence swelled within you and you stood up on your tiptoes and kissed his cheek. Your face was flaming red when you pulled back and you shyly glanced up to see Kise’s cheeks bright pink as he stared at you in a daze. He brought his hand up to his cheek and then laughed and grabbed your hand with his other.
“I want to go somewhere else tonight, too. But it has to be just you and me.” He excitedly chattered.
You nodded in agreement, wondering what it was. “Okay,”
I can’t believe I actually did that! I could’ve just ruined our entire friendship by kissing his cheek. You thought incredulously. Gah! Baka (Y/N)!
You crashed into Kise’s side as he came to an abrupt stop and you finally saw what he wanted to do. The largest Ferris wheel you ever laid eyes on towered above you with brightly colored seats that could only hold two people. It was already dark out and the lights that came from the booths made it light up in a majestic glow. Luckily, you two were next in line.
The person in charge of the ride led you and Kise over to a compartment and opened the door for you. You slid in and Kise sat next to you and you watched as the door was locked and held onto (F/A/C) tightly. Minutes later it began to move and you held your breath, watching the ground descend below you with wide eyes.
“Ne, (Y/N), are you alright?” Kise asked worriedly. “You look really tense.”
Through gritted teeth you replied, “I’ve never been on a Ferris wheel before.” You shifted your legs positioned and nearly shrieked as the compartment slightly rocked because of your movements. Squealing, you practically threw yourself onto Kise’s lap and held onto his shirt for dear life as it moved even more. “Oh my God, we’re gonna die!”
“No we’re not,” Kise soothed, patting down stray (H/C) hairs. “We’ll be perfectly fine, (Y/N)cchi. This is probably the safest ride at the carnival, see?” He began to sway back in forth and the cart moved with him, scaring the living daylights out of you.
“Stop it!” You wailed, pounding a fist against his chest. “Stop it, Ryouta, stop it! That’s not funny; you’re going to break it!”
“Okay, okay~” Kise giggled.
“Are you laughing at me, Kise?” You scooted back and began to glower at him.
He winced – you never called him Kise unless you were pissed off. “I’m sorry, (Y/N)cchi. Don’t be mad at me~” He pulled you into a hug and buried his face into the crook of your neck and nuzzled the side of your face. “Please forgive me, (Y/N)cchi~”
“Fine,” you mumbled, feeling a blush dusting across your cheeks.
BOOM!
You jumped as a firework went off and smiled when it spread across the night sky in an array of red sparks. Kise pulled away from your neck with a soft sigh but didn’t let go of you. Instead, he pulled you against his chest and set his chin on top of your head as you two watched the firework show above. You were at the top of the Ferris wheel when it stopped and you blinked, wriggling from under Kise’s pointed jaw and glancing away from the fireworks to down below where a cluster of workers were pointing at the control station with frowns.
“I think the Ferris wheel just broke,” you muttered.
“Huh?” Kise mumbled. He glanced over and wonder filled his features. “Oh, wow, I guess we’re stuck up here for a while then, right?”
You wordlessly nodded, panic twisting your stomach into knots. What if you two were stuck up at the top of the Ferris wheel for the entire night? Would they have to call the fire department? Why did Kise have to pick to go on the Ferris wheel right now?
“Stop worrying, (Y/N)cchi,” Kise’s rather annoyed tone huffed.
You turned over to Kise who was watching you with a slight frown.
“What’s wrong?” You questioned curiously.
Kise cupped your cheek and you froze, a flock of butterflies beating within you at the action. “Try to enjoy the fireworks instead of freaking out about the Ferris wheel. You’re starting to make me nervous.”
Not knowing what to say, you just let out a confused, “Huh?”
“Ne, you’re so cute, (Y/N)cchi.” Kise murmured.
He leaned closer to you, his face merely centimeters away from yours. (E/C) hues met honey brown, breaths were synchronized, and lips brushed together before pressing on one another in a kiss. You slid your eyelids shut and held onto his shoulders, savoring the blissful feeling. His lips felt like they were sending their own versions of a much more beautiful firework though you. The kiss was sweet and kind and everything you imagined your first kiss would be like. Yes, your first kiss was with your best friend on a broken-down Ferris wheel with fireworks firing in the sky.
You reluctantly pulled away breathless and leaned your forehead against his, twin smiles on yours and his faces. This moment was perfect and the best part about it was that it was only the first of many more.
