Episode 9: It's All In The (Cook) Book!
Kawasaki let out a deep sigh as he played with an onion. "I'm never gonna get this restaurant to be a hit," He said to himself in a very depressed tone. "Even though Tiff helped with coming up with new menus, delivery services, and other things, but only customer I get is Kirby! It's too late to change business plans. Maybe I should leave Cappy Town and get more cooking lessons..."
"You're not going anywhere!" A familiar voice triggered his eardrums from behind. It was Tiff, next to her was Tuff, next to him was Kirby.
"Huh? Hey guys!" Kawasaki greeted.
"You don't need to go anywhere to learn to cook!" Tiff said.
"Huh, really?" Kawasaki asked.
"Yes, here," she handed him a book. "Biblio said that he saved it especially for you."
"A cook book?" Kawasaki look through the book.
"Yeah there are cooking instructions in the book, so you can read through it, practice it, and serve it to customers," Tiff explained.
"Ah? Oh~" Kawasaki's eyes started to glow in joy.

"EW! YUCK! TAKE IT AWAY!" Dedede demanded as he threw the burrito into Escargoon's mouth.
"I think it tastes pretty good," Escargoon mumbled as he chewed his mouth of burrito.
"Well then, you chug the whole thing!" Dedede said. "Waddle Dee! Bring me the menu!" Dedede demanded. One Waddle Dee quickly brought the menu. "Hmm... hmm... hmm... WHY IS THERE NOTHING TO EAT HERE!"
"Well then, why don't we go to Kawasaki's?" Escargoon suggested.
Dedede thought for a moment. "Bring me back that burrito!" He demanded.
"I already ate the whole thing..." Escargoon replied.
"Bring me new one! Just put extra rice in there!" Dedede demanded.

After practicing for few times, Kawasaki noticed that his cooking tasted a little better. "Oh? Oh~ Tiff come and try this!"
Tiff went over and took a sip of the noodle soup. "Oh wow! It tastes so much better!" Tiff said, very amazed.
"Let me try," Tuff said as he took a sip. "Hmm... wow! Delicious!"
"You should serve it like how you just did it!" Tiff said.
Just then, Chief Bookem came into eat lunch. "Kawasaki! One order of noodles please!"
"One noodle soup, coming right up!" Kawasaki called from the kitchen. "Lalala~ lalalala-lala-lala~" Kawasaki sang as he prepared the noodle soup. "Here you are~ one noodle soup!" Kawasaki said as he served it to Bookem.
Bookem took a sip of noodle soup. "Hmm... hmm..." Bookem said as he savored it. "Hmm? Oh wow! This is really good!" Chief Bookem said. "Kawasaki! I'm impressed! What did you do differently? This noodle soup is almost hundred times better than usual!"
"Ah, I switched up the ingredients a little bit," Kawasaki said. He didn't want to mention anything about a cooking book.
Chief Bookem slurped in the noodles. "Wow, this is really amazing! I should come here more often!" After he finished it, he paid and left. "Thanks, Kawasaki!"
"Bye-bye!" Kawasaki said. "Oh, Tiff! It is a success!"
"That's great, Kawasaki!" Tiff said.
Mabel came in afterwards. "Kawasaki, I would like some pork chops," Mabel requested.
"All right!" Kawasaki went into the kitchen. "Thank goodness I practiced cooking this before hand! Lalala-lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala~" Soon, he was done with pork chops. "Here you are, Mabel!" He said as he served it to her.
"Hmm..." Mabel said as she savored it. "Oh? I never predicted that the pork chops would be this delicious!"
"Do you like it?" Kawasaki asked.
"This is amazing! Mmm." Mabel complimented as she continued to eat the pork chops. "Thank you, Kawasaki." She paid and left.
"Oh my! This is one of the most successful day!" Kawasaki cheered.
The words about Kawasaki's cooking was spread out.
"Really? Is it really that good?" Mayor asked.
"I never knew he would get any compliments," Hana said.
"Maybe I should go there some time," Buttercup said.
"I should try if you really liked it," Samo said.
"Let's go see if he really did improve," Tuggle said.
More cappies stopped by Kawasaki's restaurant and ordered different menus.
"French toasts, please," Mayor said.
"I'll have dumplings," Hana said.
"I'll have omelette," Buttercup said.
"One plate of deep fried vegetables," Samo said.
"Pan fried rice, please," Tuggle said.
"Oh, different orders at a same time! Okay!" Kawasaki said as he took orders from everyone. "Lalala-lalalalalalalala-la-lala-lalala-lalalalalalala-lalalalala-lalalalala~" He sang as he whipped up the toasts, heated up the dumplings, flipped the omelette, fried the batter, and stirred the fried rice. After some time, he was able to serve everyone their dishes in a fair amount of time. Everyone took the first bite at the same time.
"Oh wow! This is really good!" Mayor said.
"Oh my goodness! Try this dumpling, honey," Hana said.
"This omelette taste so much better now!" Buttercup exclaimed.
"Mmm, not only it tastes good but it's also really crunchy!" Samo complimented.
"I should order more and take this home!" Tuggle said.
Kawasaki, Tiff, Tuff, and Kirby were watching people eat.
"Oh, I never knew this day would come!" Kawasaki was so proud of himself.
"See? You don't need to got outside of Cappy Town to learn to cook again!" Tiff said.
"You'll make more money at this rate!" Tuff said.
"Poyo po-poyo..." Kirby sadly said as he saw no one leaving any leftovers.
"I hope you get more customers, Kawasaki," Tiff said.
"See you later," Tuff said.
"Poyo," Kirby said.
"Bye! Thank you!" Kawasaki said as they left. "I gotta practice some more!"

Later that day, in the evening, everyone in Cappy Town was peaceful and quiet... except Dedede...
"EW! YUCK! BLECH! I DON'T WANT IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTT!" He threw the corn dog into Escargoon's mouth.
"This happens every meal..." Escargoon muffled as he chewed on the corn dog.
"I WANT GOOD FOOD RIGHT NOW!" Dedede demanded.
"Let's just go to Kawasaki's restaurant," Escargoon suggested.
"I want something eatable!" Dedede said.
"The proper word is 'edible', sire," Escargoon said.
"I don't need your lectures!" Dedede screamed,
"But my point is, sire," Escargoon started. "I heard a lot of good things about Kawasaki's restaurant today. So many people were eating there and complimented his food. Why don't we give it a try?"
"Hmm, fine, let's try," Dedede said.
********
"Yo! Kawasaki!" Dedede said as he bursted in.
"Hello, sire! What can I do for you today?" Kawasaki asked.
"Gimme anything good!" Dedede demanded.
"I would have a bowl of noodle soup," Escargoon said.
"All right!" Kawasaki said. First he prepared the noodle soup. Then he wondered what he should give to King Dedede. Then he decided that he should just give him the same thing Escargoon ordered.
"Here you go sire," Kawasaki said as he served the bowls of noodle soup to Dedede and Escargoon.
"Hmm..." Dedede said as he slurped in the noodles. "Hmm? This is really good!" Dedede said as he savored it.
"Much better than I expected!" Escargoon was more than satisfied with the flavor.
"Thank you, sire," Kawasaki said happily. "Wow! Even the King complimented my cooking! My dream has finally come true!"
"Now this food is worth paying!" Dedede said as he swallowed the last drop of soup. "Had a nice dinner thanks to you, Kawasaki! See ya later!" Dedede and Escargoon paid him before they left.
"Bye, your majesty!" Kawasaki said as they went out. "Oh my goodness! He really complimented my food!"
Later that day, Kawasaki counted how much plates he sold today and how much he earned for today. "Oh my! I earned so much today! I've never been so successful before! I'm so happy I should thank Tiff for this!"
********
Next day was also successful. Everyone came into eat and they all loved it. Unlike any other days, just like yesterday, people were complimenting openly rather than criticizing in the inside. As the days went on, people now had to wait in line to get Kawasaki's food. That didn't mind the citizens of Cappy Town... except Dedede.
"Grrrr..." Dedede groaned at the end of the line. "I've been standing here for so long and my stomach is attached to my back now!"
"But sire, we can't let you cut in line," Chief Bookem said. "Everyone feels the same way, but thinking about eating Kawasaki's food is worth waiting."
In a fit of rage, King Dedede decided to go back to castle to order something from Susie.
"What can I do for you sire?" Susie asked.
"I need a monster that can sneak into a restaurant and make the food taste bad!" Dedede ordered.
"Some wordy order..." Susie said. "I'm not sure if we have that sort of thing. Hold on a second..." She looked through the category. "Well, sire. We do have a microbot that can sneak in. And I have some herbs that will make any food taste bad to everyone's taste buds."
"Send it right away!" Dedede said. "Heh-heh-heh! At this rate, people will no longer eat at Kawasaki and it will only be me at his restaurant."
"But sire, you will have to eat that herb too," Escargoon said.
"Well that's why I'm skipping his food for a day, when I put that herb in!" Dedede said. "Then no one will come, I'll get rid of the rest of the herb, and then I shall be his only customer so I wouldn't have to wait in line! Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh!"
The microbot sneaked into Kawasaki's restaurant and sprayed the herbs on every food while he wasn't looking. So when he served it, there was no way he would know that the herb was added. Eventually, the frowns appeared on cappies' faces after a single bite from their food. They questioned their taste buds for a second. But then when they took another bite, they were sure that the food was bad. They paid and left without saying anything.
"Huh?" Kawasaki asked as people left half of their food. He took a bite of one food. "Hmm... Uggh! This tastes really bad! But I followed everything in the cook book..." He said sadly.
"Poyo?" Kirby came in.
"Oh. Kirby! Can you finish my leftovers?" Kawasaki asked.
"Poyo!" Kirby took the offer excitedly. When he ate it, he thought nothing was wrong. It tasted like the original Kawasaki's food.
"Wow! Thank you, Kirby!" Kawasaki said. "Just give me the plates when you're done!"
********
The words that Kawasaki's food came back to his original flavor was spread throughout Cappy Town. Hearing this news made Tiff go back to visit again. "Kawasaki, what happened?"
"I don't know..." Kawasaki said. "I did everything that the cook book said... I never knew this would happen to me again... oh..."
"Wait a minute, what is that thing in your kitchen?" Tiff asked as she saw a little robot thing in a kitchen. As soon as she started to approach it, the robot hopped away. "I knew it! It's all part of Dedede's plan!" She also noticed the flakes of green herbs on the sink. "Kawasaki, did you use anything that's related herbs?"
"No I haven't," Kawasaki replied.
"Hmm..." Tiff looked at the flakes of herbs closely. "I think this is Herbaraum! It makes anything taste bad!"
"Why would the King do this kind of thing?" Kawasaki asked.
"He wanted all the good food to himself," Tiff said. "I saw him raging because he couldn't get the food early."
"Oh..." Kawasaki said.
"Now it's time for him to pay! Kawasaki, I want you to cook the food the way you done it before!" Tiff said.
"What? But I'd lose customers again!" Kawasaki said.
"This is a matter of justice! There's no time to worry about customers right now!" Tiff said.
"Ah... okay..." Kawasaki said sadly.
"I'm here, Kawasaki!" Dedede said as he came in. "One order of barbecue pork chop!"
Tiff hid the cook book and made Kawasaki cook the barbecue pork chop his own way. Kawasaki did so, and then he served it to Dedede. "Hmm... hmm? Blech! Why does this taste so bad?!"
"But, I did the same thing like last time, sire," Kawasaki said.
"Well, you've done something wrong!" Dedede yelled.
"If you're not satisfied, then you should just leave!" Tiff said as she exited from the kitchen. "And not spreading bad-tasting herbs to other people's food."
"Wh-what do you mean?!" Dedede asked, flinching a little bit.
"I know that you ordered a robot to spread bad-tasting herbs on people's food!" Tiff said. "I saw a robot running away and pieces of herbs on the kitchen floor! You know, you should learn to hide your evidences well."
King Dedede didn't say anything, just went out the restaurant and went to go order another monster. "Just get me any strong monster!"
"Based on what you ordered today, and what your intention was," Susie said. "I would like to offer you this monster. The name is same as the herb I sent you."
"Send it right away!" Dedede said. The monster stepped out of the transporter. The monster looked exactly like an herb, and the roots resembled tentacles. "Go to Kawasaki's restaurant!"
The monster confirmed and went straight to Kawasaki's restaurant to attack.
Kirby was there at the restaurant in case Kawasaki had any leftovers. He was eating Dedede's leftover when the monster started to attack by spraying the flakes of herbs everywhere. The flakes made air taste really bitter. Kawasaki, Tiff, and Kirby were suffering by the bitter air. "Kirby! You gotta suck it up!"
"Poyo-yo-yo-yo-yo-yo," Kirby shook his head.
"Kirby! Use this!" Kawasaki said as he tossed him a mixer. He wanted to find a frying pan, but he couldn't manage to find it with bitterness surrounding him.
Enduring the bitterness, Kirby sucked up the mixer and transformed into a cook Kirby. Kirby captured the monster with his mixer and started to grind the monster. Tiff flinched as she watched the monster was ground into herbal medicine. But the monster was so big that the mixer exploded and flooded the whole restaurant.
All Kawasaki was worried about was the cook book, but it was all dissolved in the herbal medicine juice. "Ah... oh... it's all ruined! I didn't even memorize the recipes yet! Aw..."
"Just do your best and you'll be fine!" Tiff encouraged. "Let's clean up now!"
"Poyo, po!" Kirby said as he finished the food that Dedede left and saved so that he can eat it after he defeats the monster.
