Episode 22: Bulls-eye: Part 1
A/N: There was Harry Potter series parody, so why not the parody of The Hunger Games series?
New books have came into Dreamland called The Game of Hunger. As soon as the word was spread out, everyone was reading it. The mayor, Chief Bookem, Gengu, Gus, Kawasaki, Tuggle, the sheep, you name any cappies in Cappy Town, they were all reading it.
"The arrow hit their alarm spot. 'Aw, I was so close to surviving this game!' said the female tribute from District 3 and was forced out of the arena as the cannon fired to signal her fall. And so, five more people cappies has lost the game today, and went back to their district with empty hand," Tiff read to Kirby, Tuff, Iroo, Honey, Spikehead, Fololo, and Falala. "The odds of Patnith is now higher than before, but she must face stronger foes for her victory so that she can proudly go back and help people in her District." Tiff closed the book. "That's enough for today."
"Aww, I want to hear some more," Spikehead said.
"That's a really good book like Pappy Pottey," Fololo said.
"And it's by a different author," Tiff said. "Coldings wrote good book like Rowlin. I should write a letter for Coldings too so that she can know I'm her new fan."
"Looks like your fan spirit is rising again," Tuff said.
"Oh, leave me alone," Tiff said. "I'll read you guys more chapters tomorrow."
"Ok, bye!" Honey said.
"Promise you read until chapter 16!" Iroo said.
"Thank you, Tiff!" Spikehead said, and all three left the castle so that they can go back home.
"I should start writing my letter to Coldings!" Tiff said as she took out an envelope, postcard, and stamp. "Dear Coldings..." She said as she started to write.

"Okay sire," Escargoon said. "Let's go over your alphabets. A."
"A." Dedede repeated after him.
"B."
"B."
"Okay, now finish the rest of the alphabets," Escargoon said.
"Uhh... let's see..." Dedede thought hard. Very hard. So hard that his head started to hurt.
"Oh, sire, the letter after that is C!" Escargoon screamed in frustration. "My goodness, we've gone over this for a week and you still don't know your alphabets!"
"Don't you scream at me, ya useful for nothing shellfish!" Dedede said as he hammered Escargoon's head.
"But sire," Escargoon said. "You must learn to read as soon as possible. Susie's sending more and more monster and robots catalog that's full of words and less images!"
"Well then we gotta ask Susie for catalogs with more images!" Dedede said and connected to Susie.
"Guten Tag, sire," Susie said. "How can I help you?"
"I need me a catalogs with more pictures!" Dedede said.
"But sire," Susie said. "I thought you liked to read since you read them every time! So I sent you the one with more words and less images."
"Nah, his majesty never learned to-" Before Escargoon was able to finish his sentence, Dedede hammered his head.
"Oh, you can't read, your majesty?" Susie asked. No wonder he ordered lousy products from us. Well, who can blame him anyways? I feel bad for President Haltmann.
"Yeah! I can't read! Ya got a problem with that?!" Dedede said.
"Not at all your majesty," Susie said. "It's not your fault you're uneducated. I can offer you a machine that can help you learn to read less than a minute. You can just give it back to me when you think you're done and I won't charge you any."
"That's a deal!" Dedede agreed.
"All right," Susie immediately sent over the machine that looked like a really futuristic helmet. "Just put that on your head, press the green button, and it will trigger your brain so that you will be able to read for the rest of your life."
"Hey~" Dedede said. He put it on and pressed the green button. The spark on the helmet machine hit Dedede's brain. He took it off. "Hey, that only hurt for a second there!"
"Sir Escargoon," Susie said. "Why don't you show him a text of some sort so that you can test him."
"All right," Escargoon went to get a book. "This is another popular book. It's called The Game of Hunger. Why don't you read the first sentence of the book?"
"Hmm, let's see," Dedede started. "The left side of my bed was cold. My nose was numb that I couldn't feel a single thing... Hey~! I can read now!"
"Well, congratulations, your majesty," Susie clapped. "Now if I can have that back so you don't have to pay for any."
"Deal!" Dedede sent over the helmet machine that taught him how to read less than a minute.
"Thanks for using Haltmann Works Company, Auf Wiedersehen~" Susie took the machine and disconnected.
"Well, your majesty, since now you know how to read," Escargoon said. "Why don't you start reading-"
"I'm gonna finish this book!" Dedede said. "It's quite interesting! Heh-heh-heh!"
"I was gonna say your monster and robot catalog," Escargoon said.
"Well this book is interesting!" Dedede said. "I'm finishing it! It's like a TV in ma head!"
"Do whatever you want, your majesty," Escargoon said as walked away. He decided to take a break while Dedede was into the new book.
********
"Oh, I can't wait until Coldings to read my letter!" Tiff said as she came out of the post office with Tuff, Kirby, Fololo, and Falala.
"I'm sure every authors will get the card from their fans," Tuff said.
"Poyo," Kirby said.
"Kirby, do you want for dinner at our home today?" Tiff asked.
"Poyo, poyo!" Kirby excitedly replied.
They walked in the castle and noticed that Escargoon was just goofing around. "Escargoon?" Tiff called. "Shouldn't you be by Dedede?"
"I don't need to!" Escargoon replied joyfully.
"But why?" Tuff asked.
"Well, he learned to read and got obsessed with this one book!" Escargoon replied.
"Dedede? Really?" Fololo asked.
"Which book?" Tiff asked.
"Oh, The Game of Hunger," Escargoon answered.
"Hey, that book is very popular these days," Falala said.
"Yeah! Everyone's reading it!" Tuff said.
"Poyo, poyo!" Kirby said.
********
The next morning, Escargoon woke up and went into the throne room to clean, but Dedede was sitting in his throne, the book still in his hand. "Your majesty! Did you stay up all night to read the book?!"
"Hush up! I'm almost done!" Dedede ordered as his eyes were glued to the book, and turned to his last page, and closed the book. "Hey~ that ain't half bad! In fact, ima start a game like in the book!"
"Cappies would not want be forced to play the game, sire," Escargoon said.
"I'm gonna be in that game too!" Dedede said.
"Really, sire?" Escargoon asked.
"It's gonna be a good chance to get that pink fluff without him dyin'!" Dedede laughed.
Dedede connected to Susie to get help to build the arena and props. "Why, hello again, your majesty. What can I do for you?"
"I need things for the game of hunger!" Dedede demanded.
"The game of hunger?" Susie asked. "You mean like the book?"
"That's right! I need me everything for that! Pronto!" Dedede said.
"My, you fell in love with that story," Susie said. "Of course I can do that, but it would be the most expensive request so far."
"That's fine with me! Now get me everything for that game fast!" Dedede said.
"Yes, your majesty," Susie said and disconnected.
"Heh-heh-heh! This is gonna be fun!" Dedede said.
"Have fun, sire," Escargoon said.
"You're in it too!" Dedede said.
"What? Why me too?" Escargoon asked.
"My orders! And you gotta protect me!" Dedede said.
Fololo, Falala, and Tuff heard the whole thing.
"What? He's gonna have the game of hunger?" Tiff asked.
"That's what we heard," Fololo said.
"This is gonna be so bad," Falala said.
"Even Dedede and Escargoon are participating in that game," Tuff said. "He's gonna pick tributes and start the game."
"I wonder what his intentions are," Tiff wondered.
********
Every cappies went to the castle by the King's orders. "Welcome, folks!" Dedede said. "Happy Game of Hunger! And may the odds be never in your favor! Heh-heh-heh!"
"We are going to pick the tributes," Escargoon explained. "And the people who are chosen will be required to participate in this game!"
"The game? Just like the book?" Curio asked.
"I wonder how this will work out," Chief Bookem wondered.
"I think this would be a fun experience," Iroo said to Honey and Spikehead.
"I really don't want to do this," Sir Ebrum said.
"Me too, dear," Lady Like replied.
"I just don't see the whole point of this thing!" Tiff angrily complained.
"Meta Knight? You're in this too?" Tuff asked as he saw him, Sword Knight, and Blade Knight standing next to Kirby.
"King's orders," Meta Knight replied.
"But I want to try," Sword Knight said. "The book is really good."
"Sorainum shoray," Blade Knight said.
"All right, let's pick tributes to do this!" Escargoon walked to to glass jar and picked names. "Now, let's begin the name call! Kirby! Tiff! Tuff! Bookem! Samo! Mabel! Doron! Sword Knight! Blade Knight! Tuggle! Gengu! Ebrum! Gus! Kawasaki! And last of all... Meta Knight! If I called your name, please come on up to the stage!" Kirby, Tiff, Tuff, Bookem, Samo, Mabel, Doron, Sword Knight, Blade Knight, Tuggle, Gengu, Sir Ebrum, Gus, Kawasaki, and Meta Knight came up to the stage and lined up.
"Happy Game of Hunger! And may the odds be never in your favor!" King Dedede said.
"Oh great," Tiff said. "He's too obsessed with the story..."
********
In his castle, King Dedede even had weapons like how it was set up in a book. There was even a gear like they used in the game in the story. "Well, it is really cool," Tiff said as she looked around, checking out the gear and weapons. "Look at this gear. Once the weapon hit this part of the gear, the gear will ring, and then that person loses. It's on the head, chest, stomach, and back."
"Check this out!" Tuff said as he held up the bow and arrow. "They're all fake, just like in the book!"
"Y'all have an hour to practice, and then we'll start the game!" Dedede ordered.
"Well, let's start training," Tiff said. But everyone was already practicing shooting arrows, swinging fake swords, and throwing fake knives. However, they were all lousy at wielding their weapons.
"Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh!" Dedede laughed as he watched them practice. "Looks like I'm gonna win!"
"Sire, I think you should practice also," Escargoon said. "You may not be good as you think you are."
"I'll worry about that during the game!" Dedede said. "Besides, I ordered Meta Knight, Sword, and Blade to purposely lose if they are the last to survive besides me! Heh-heh-heh!"
"Wait a minute," Escargoon said. "Look at Tiff! She's much better than other people!"
Tiff aimed and let go of the string and arrow, hitting bulls-eye.
"How is that girl so good?!" Dedede said. "I gotta practice now! Outta ma way!" He pushed the rest of the tributes out of the way so that he can practice shooting arrows.
"Hey! I was using that!" Tiff said.
"Well, that's too bad for you! I need to practice!" Dedede said as he shot the arrow, shooting outside of the target.
"But your majesty, we need to practice too!" Sir Ebrum said.
"You cannot just hog them all yourself!" Mabel said.
"Go practice something else while I practice this!" Dedede demanded.
"I'll just practice swinging those swords," Samo said.
"I predict this weapon would be useful to protect me from anything," Mabel said as she held up a wide axe.
"I think I would use this," Sir Ebrum said as he held up a bag of throwing knives.
Everyone else chose their weapon based on which weapons looked good for them. Of course there were more than one people who wanted the same weapons. Meta Knight, Sword, and Blade just stood there, and Kirby goofed off, he was in his own world. "Meta Knight, why aren't you practicing?"
"They are already starting at disadvantage," Meta Knight said.
"Kirby," Tiff called.
"Poyo?" Kirby responded.
"This is a dangerous game," Tiff said. "I mean, not that dangerous, but you still need to be careful. I want you to survive long."
"Poyo," Kirby replied.
An hour has passed. The tributes were required to be in the arena while the Waddle Dees were the game makers, and Waddle Doo was the head game maker. At each of their podium, they stood, facing the podium. "Rules!" Waddle Doo said through the microphone. "You cannot step out of your podium before the game starts, or you lose automatically. One minute until the game starts!" Everyone was watching everything at Channel DDD.
Everyone took their stand.
"50 seconds."
They looked around the arena.
"40 seconds."
Several nervous people gulped.
"30 seconds."
They all looked at other tributes.
"20 seconds."
They looked at the items at the ground near the large steel building called Korkunopia.
"10... 9... 8..."
They got ready to run.
"7... 6... 5..."
Even Kirby got ready.
"4... 3... 2..."
All tributes and all the audiences leaned in.
"1..."
The cannon sound fired.
A/N: Honestly, there should be more female cappies so that I can make equal distribution... but no... I'm too lazy to make other characters anyways. But honestly, I really love The Hunger Games series.
