Chapter Seven: Never Underestimate a Dragon Slayer
BOOM!
There was a loud explosion as Natsu broke down Phantom Lord's doors. Kira and the rest of the guild stood behind him, prepared to fight. As soon as Phantom realized who they were, neither side hesitated in attacking.
Kira immediately ran towards a corner, where she was quickly surrounded by ten members of Phantom Lord. Many people felt trapped when they were stuck in a corner, but Kira liked not having to look behind her. She now had the upper hand.
"You're trapped, girlie," one of them smirked.
Kira smirked back. "Am I?" she replied mockingly. She lifted her hands in the air. "Lightning Strike: Target Locked!" Ten bolts of lightning appeared out of nowhere, shocking the Phantom Lord members. Eight of them fell over, but two of them had been able to dodge it, and seven more had appeared.
Before any of them could try something on her, Kira positioned her hands again. "Thunder Storm!" Powerful gusts of wind attacked her opponents from all angles and they flew around, a thunder cloud above each person, throwing lightning and heavy rain at them until they were knocked out.
"Kira! Stop the flood!" someone yelled from another part of the room.
Kira sighed in annoyance. This was another reason as to why she preferred working alone. Now that she was working with people on the same side as her, she had to make sure she didn't go all-out. She quickly raised her arms, evaporating the increasing body of water in a matter of seconds.
Suddenly, something big appeared in the corner of Kira's eyes. Turning slightly, she saw Master get bigger and bigger until he was at his biggest state.
"It's a monster!" someone yelled, making Kira laugh in amusement before knocking someone out.
"WHO LAID HANDS ON THIS MONSTER'S CHILDREN? DON'T THINK ANY LAWS WILL PROTECT YOU!" he yelled at the guild.
Kira was surprised at how angry Master was. She didn't think he and Team Shadow Gear was close, but maybe she was wrong.
Nevertheless, she continued fighting, concentrating only on beating her opponents. However, as the thirtieth wizard collapsed at her feet, Kira couldn't help but wonder where Gajeel and the Element 4, the five most powerful wizards of Phantom Lord, was. From the looks of it, almost half of the guild was down, yet all of Fairy Tail was still standing. What were they planning?
"JOSE, SHOW YOURSELF!" Master yelled as Kira knocked five more people backwards.
"Where are your strongest wizards?" Kira asked her opponent. "Why did they only leave you weaklings here?"
The wizard scowled. "We don't need them to beat you!" he said, although he looked slightly doubtful as he shot something at her.
Kira easily blocked it and sent it flying back at the man, who was unable to stop or dodge it. He promptly fell to the floor, but got back up.
"This is all part of Master Jose's plan anyway," he growled as he staggered on his feet.
Kira narrowed her eyes. "What's his plan?" she demanded, ready to send another storm through the room.
However, the man simply grinned. "I don't know, how about NOW!"
Confused, Kira lowered her arms, as the wizard wasn't doing anything. Suddenly, she heard someone yell "Requip!" and a sword slice something from behind her.
"Don't let your guard down!" Erza yelled at Kira before sending the wizard from before down. "Their strongest are not here, but we still can't underestimate them."
Kira felt slightly off since Erza had saved her, but she pushed that away for now. "Where do you think they are?" she asked, as they joined some of the other Fairy Tail members in the middle. "Don't you think we're winning by too big a margin right now?"
Erza frowned. "I don't know, but don't let yourself get distracted. Master!" she suddenly shouted.
However, Kira didn't turn to see what she was talking about, focusing on fighting, instead. Then, she saw Master blow a wall apart and step through it. Kira frowned, although she continued fighting. Master was definitely their strongest wizard. If he left and the strong members of Phantom Lord appeared . . .
Suddenly, a loud crash focused almost everyone's attention on top of the sign that said "Phantom Lord." Once the smoke cleared, the figure was revealed to be . . .
"Iron Gajeel!" Kira expected Natsu to attack the Iron Dragon Slayer, but it turned out to be Nab. "How dare you hurt Levy?" he yelled as he drew back his fist. However, Gajeel sent his own arm flying, which had turned and extended into iron. Nab flew back to the ground, along with other members of Phantom Lord. It seemed Gajeel didn't mind taking his own members out to defeat his opponent, something Kira admittedly thought at times.
Said Dragon Slayer dropped to the ground, bringing back his arm, turning it back to flesh. "Hey there, Trash," he said. "The Iron Dragon Slayer, Gajeel the Great, will face you now."
Kira couldn't help but laugh out loud at his self-proclaimed title. The entire room turned to stare at Kira. She stopped laughing, but she still smiled mockingly.
"The Storm Mage, Kira Toth?"
"The Storm Mage, Kira the Great, will face you now," she mocked, lifting her arm like Gajeel had.
Gajeel the Great snarled, probably humiliated at being mocked like so. He sent his iron fist at Kira, who easily dodged it by jumping into the air. One of the upsides of being a Storm Mage was that she was able to use the wind to lift her into the air non-verbally.
"Tropical Storm!" Sharp gusts of wind flew towards Gajeel at high speed and the pressure dropped. He tried to stand down by digging his fist into the ground, but was eventually thrown back.
Whispers started around the room, but Kira ignored them. She wasn't done yet.
"Flash Flood! Lightning Strike!" A flood appeared out of nowhere, surrounding him. Lightning flashed from above, attacking the Iron Dragon Slayer, forcing him to retract his iron arm. He still got electrocuted though, as he was soaked in water.
"Wind Turbine!" Although it wasn't as strong as the wind from previously, it still kept Gajeel from getting up.
"Go, Kira!"
At Brandon's voice, Kira suddenly froze. She turned to face him, who was glaring at her intently. In front of him, Erza's eyes widened away from Kira. Crap! She had forgotten about Gajeel. However, by the time she turned back, Gajeel had already gotten out of the flood, soaked and super pissed.
"Iron Dragon's Roar!" Kira flew backwards until she hit the wall opposite them, which had been very far away.
After hitting the wall, Kira dropped to the floor. She felt as if she had broken a few bones in her back, but she still struggled to get back up. She could see Erza and Natsu wanting to interfere, but saw them getting stopped by Brandon.
"Iron Dragon's Club!" Gajeel's arm transformed into iron again, and flew towards the right side of her stomach. More specifically, the exact same spot she had been burned two night ago.
Gasping with pain, Kira fell to the ground again, clutching the red area. However, Gajeel still continued to attack Kira, until bleeding wasn't her biggest problem.
"Never -- underestimate -- a -- Dragon -- Slayer!" Gajeel grunted between blows.
Unable to move, she just lied there, wishing someone would help her already.
Finally, Natsu stepped up, punching Gajeel backwards, resulting in him crashing against the wall again.
"I'm Fairy Tail's Dragon Slayer," Natsu growled, both hands on fire. "Kira, give this guy to me," Natsu said as Gajeel got up, grinning.
Without waiting for a reply, Natsu immediately went into action, not that Kira minded. She probably couldn't even win against Happy in her state. She watched helplessly as Natsu and Gajeel went at each other.
Erza and Happy quickly came to Kira's side. "Come on, let's get you out of here for now," Erza helped Happy get a good grip on Kira before flying away from the fight to a corner. Erza's eyes widened when she saw the blood pouring out of Kira. "Kira, what -- Natsu!"
Kira, Erza and Happy watched as Natsu went flying in the air. However, Natsu eventually jumped back up, more energetic after he sucked up the fire around him.
Erza smirked. "Dragon Slayers have good resilience," she said. "So why would you go and provoke one raised by an iron dragon?" Erza growled at Kira. "You're an idiot, you know that?"
Kira scowled, despite the immense pain she was in. "At least I put in some damage into that iron-freak," she growled at a low tone. "And I probably could've beaten him if he didn't hit me there."
Erza raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean, 'hit me there'? Were you injured when we came here?"
Kira bit her lip. Damn her! Why was she even talking, anyway? Hell, why was she even at Phantom Lord? She wasn't used to fighting with others and she had never felt much affection towards the guild members or the guild itself.
Suddenly, the guild began shaking.
"What is that?" Happy asked, looking up.
Erza smiled. "The Giant's Wrath."
Kira smiled as best as she could, as well. That was Master's move -- this fight would be over quite soon. After everyone figured out what the cause was, everyone began fighting again, including Erza and Happy.
Kira forced herself into a sitting position in her corner. She might have been physically exhausted, but she still had more than enough magic power left. More people seemed to come at her than before, probably because she looked weak, but she easily sent them all back.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Brandon fighting somewhere to her right. When he had also taken his opponents down, he turned to stare at Kira. Shaking his head, he muttered, "Pathetic" before turning around and shooting an explosive flame at his sneak attacker's feet.
As she also fought, Kira wondered why Erza and Natsu had listened to Brandon when he told them not to fight her. Then, out of nowhere, something small fell from the top, landing in the center of the guild.
"Gramps!"
Kira froze when she heard what Natsu just screamed. The thing that just fell . . . was Master? Kira used the wind for support as she made her way over to him. Erza had Master in her hands.
Kira looked up at Loke. "What's wrong with him?" she asked. "And why is he green?"
"I can't sense any magic power from him," he replied. He looked up to where Master had fallen from. "It seems as if his magic was cancelled."
Kira frowned. It was cancelled? There was a type of magic that could do that? She looked around the room. Phantom Lord seemed to have gotten wind of the fact that Master was down, and this seemed to give them hope.
"Erza!" she yelled the same time Phantom Lord began attacking again.
Although Fairy Tail still fought back, Phantom's members seemed to have regained their fighting spirit. As she didn't have enough time to go back to a corner, Kira was forced to fight from where she was, although her magic power had now decreased to less than half.
Murmuring an apology to the Fairy Tail members around her, Kira made an X with her hands in front of her chest as she saw people aim magic circles at her. "Lightning Strike: Ten Foot Radius!" She brought her arms out and lightning fell on everyone ten feet within her. The majority of her victims were Phantom Lord, but there were a few from Fairy Tail.
"Don't out your team! It's not the man thing to do!"
"Ice Shield! Ow, damn it."
"Ouch! I hope it didn't touch my fish!"
Kira couldn't help but be amused by their reactions, but it wasn't in a mocking way. She was prepared to do something else, but Erza suddenly yelled something.
"RETREAT! Everyone return to the guild!"
Kira frowned. At first, she didn't agree with Erza, but after looking around, it seemed like the right decision. Fairy Tail didn't seem to have much heart, and a few of them were injured, mainly her.
While many people, such as Natsu, tried arguing with Erza, Kira focused on trying to get out of there. However, before she could do anything, she was hit from the back and she slumped to the floor. Barely conscious, Kira felt herself get lifted and carried out before she blacked out.
