Fuli and the others continued their path to find Mufusa. To their greatest surprise of they went to an familiar place, a place that they haven't been in a long time.

Janna , Muffy, and Anui were mesmerized of the place, but to Fuli, Besthe, Anga , Bunga and Ono. 

To them, it was their former home. It was the Pridelands. 

Fuli said, " I can't hardly believe it. I never thought of seeing it again after Kion's coronation ." 

The egret concurs with the cheetah, "Yeah, it has been a while since we been here. I couldn't believe how much it has changed." 

Bunga couldn't hold the suspense any longer as the honey -badger exclaimed, "Last one to reach to the Pridelands is a rotten egg!" 

He ran ahead as Janna exclaims, rolling her orange eyes at the honey badger, "Uncle Bunga! Wait for us!" 

Fuli and the others chuckled at the chestnut lioness as she tries to slow the honey badger as she possibly can. 

As they arrived, the Pridelanders were extremely excited. 

"Hi, everyone! We're back." Ono said, as the animals cheer in delight to see them again.

Anui hid behind his mother, as he ask, "Mom... Where are we?" 

"We're in the Pridelands." His mother replied, "Our old home. " 

Janna, Anui and Muffy was stunned. "Seriously? What you mean, your old home?" Janna asks. 

"It's because they used to live in the Pridelands before they joined being the Night Pride members at the Tree of Life." Someone replied as they turned around to see it was a pale golden lioness and a black lion besides her. 

"Welcome home you guys. We've missed you." She said, "If you're looking for Mufusa, I'm afraid he's not here at the moment. He's um, a little bit discomfort right now." 

"Wait, Kiara, how you know about Mufusa?" Bunga asks curiously.

"Well, he is here in the Pridelands after all, I take it that you must be Janna, Kion's daughter which makes you my niece am I right?" Kiara said as Janna was amazed of her knowledge of recognizing that she was related to Kion.

"Yeah.. I am Kion's daughter. I um, never knew we had relatives in the Pridelands." 

"Well, Kion is a bit stubborn. I mean, what else can he be?" Fuli said, sweating . 

Muffy steps forward, "I want to find Mufusa on my own. Can you help me, maybe I can talk to him, since I am his best friend after all." 

"This way." A hamerkop said, which Ono recognizes the bird right away. "Ona!" 

The adoptive siblings rejoiced of seeing each other for a long time as they seemed to be happy to be together again.

"You've grown so big since I last saw you! I'm sorry I lost touch with you and Kulinda." The egret apologizes to her. 

"Hey, I'm not mad at you, Ono. Besides, we're family, aren't we?" Ona replied, reassuring her adoptive brother then turns to the snow leopard. 

"Follow me." Ona said, as the snow leopard follows her as he saw his best friend all alone. 

"Mufusa!" He yells at the chestnut golden lion as the lion cub turns around to be shocked of seeing Ona and Muffy.

"Muffy? What you doing here in the Pridelands?" The lion cub asks the snow leopard , felt in compete shock of him coming to the Pridelands.

"I should let you two talk alone. I'll be waiting with Penda and Shira . " Ona said, as she flew off.

Mufusa and Muffy didn't know what to say to each other since the lion cub literally ran away from the Tree of Life. 

Muffy sighs, "Why didn't you tell me that you wanted to leave home like that? "

The lion cub sighs, "I'm sorry, Muffy. I didn't know that you would follow me out of the Tree of Life like that. I should've told you I was leaving. I know it's against Dad's rule of leaving the Tree of Life, but I couldn't stop thinking ." 

The snow leopard asks, "Thinking? About what? Getting yourself killed?"

The lion cub replied, "No! I was thinking about being a leader, just like Dad. I learnt about Dad's secret, and why he was so keen of not letting me or Janna out of the Tree of Life." 

"You mean that Kion and others kept a secret from us? Why would they do that?" The snow leopard asks the lion cub in a curious tone. 

"He didn't want us to know that he , Uncle Ono, Uncle Besthe, Aunt Anga, Aunt Fuli and Uncle Bunga used to be The Lion Guard, a team who defends and protects the Circle of Life as the Fiercest, Fastest, Bravest, Strongest, Keenest of Sight and The Smartest in all of the Pridelands. 

Apparently, Dad was the Fiercest, and he used to be the leader of the Lion Guard, and has the ability of using the Roar." 

"Whoa. I never knew that. Does Kion ever told you any of this, being a leader of the Lion Guard?" The snow leopard asks . 

"Why should he? He kept all this amazing past a secret, about his childhood, about my age from his own children. 

He can't just babysit me all the time. I want to show him that I can be independent and show him that I can be a leader of my own Lion Guard. But... " 

"But what?" 

"He's not going to let me do it." The cub replied, "Even if I did tell him the truth about my knowledge of him being the Leader of the Guard, he wouldn't allow me to do it." 

That was when they heard a voice, "Then prove him wrong!" 

 They turned to see Penda and Shira , who was with Ona . 

"You have the capabilities of being a leader, Mufusa. " Penda said, "I've seen you in action and as a friendly hyena, I can tell there is true nature of being true leader who wants to see things through." 

Shira said, "Yeah, I want to help you. Besides, I think it's my turn to help others for a change." 

"Shira, are you sure about leaving?" Mufusa asks of the elephant, "You wouldn't be able to live in the Pridelands again and be with your family." 

"Dad understands how I wanted to help others anyway I can. I want to be there for my friends no matter what." 

Janna approaches her older brother, despite of his reckless attention, "You really have insane ideas don't you, Mufusa?" 

He sweats of his younger sister's comment, "C'mon, sis, at least support me this once. " 

Janna sighs as she knew that he needed her support , even though it was reckless idea.

"Com'on, let's get this over with. " 

Mufusa turns to his aunt and uncle. "Aunt Kiara, Uncle Kovu. I promise I'll come to the Pridelands for a visit soon. " 

"You and Janna are always welcome here in the Pridelands . We will have a long chat with your father when he visits." Kiara said. 

"I hope that he would be prepared of your yelling, Aunt Kiara. You're his sister after all." Mufusa said, as he was sweating as he thought in his mind, "Man, Aunt Kiara reminds me of Mom when she's angry at Dad." 

They left the Pridelands as they went on their journey back to the Tree of Life.

As they move forward, Janna sees how tense her brother was, of being alone, as if nobody would ever consider him as a leader. 

Although, she admires her younger brother, she still believes in his own way of becoming a leader, just like their parents were.

He just have to know that for himself. 

Penda looks at the chestnut golden lion with pure concern, "Do .. Do you think Mufusa would be all right?" 

Janna replied to the hyena, "I think so. I mean, he has to confront Dad about this on his own. I know he's rebellious , hardheaded , but he means well.

He's my brother we're talking about here." 

Penda sighs as she was unsure of this situation as they approach the Tree of Life, their homeland, the one thing that was waiting for them was the King and Queen of the Tree of Life, Mufusa and Janna's parents. 

" This is the Tree of Life?" Penda asks with pure admiration of the incredible landscape as Janna said, smiling, "Yeah. This is our home." 

Kion was waiting at the Tree. 

Mufusa looks at his younger sister, as she nods at him, to encourage him to step forward to the King of the Tree of Life. 

"Mufusa, I'm very disappointed in you." He said, as Mufusa said, "I know." 

"You got me and your mother worried sick about your well -being. You deliberately me, and you had Janna and Muffy to search for you!" He yelled at the young cub.

Mufusa said, "But I know that you and Mom were worried, but I was curious about what lies beyond the Tree of Life!  I need to explore on my own ." 

"No you can't , Mufusa. I don't want to loose you or Janna." The king said. 

"Dad, I'm not alone, I have Penda, Shira, Ona , Anui and Muffy! They are the great friends I've had, and they have faith in me, just like your friends did when you were once a great Leader of the Lion Guard!" 

Makini asks, "How you know about the Lion Guard?" 

 Mufusa said, calmly "I've learnt about all about it from Aunt Kiara and Uncle Kovu back at Pride Rock. 

You were never opened about anything about your childhood life, about what you did at our age.  " 

"I did it to protect -" 

"To protect me and Janna from what? Not knowing the truth about the Lion Guard? You lied to me, Dad. 

You have to give me a chance to prove myself I can be a leader like you once did. But I guess that talking to you , you wouldn't listen to me. " 

He ran off, as Rani said, "Mufusa!" 

Janna said, "He just needs to steam off a bit. He's right you know. You should trust in us, Dad." 

She decides to leave with her new friends as Kion sighs as Rani muzzles the King, as he sighs. 

"Was I being too hard on him?" Kion asks nervously at Rani as she said, "Kion, Mufusa and Janna is growing up. 

They need to know the truth about everything sooner or later." 

Janna walks with Penda and Shira. The girls sighs, " Man, I never thought of seeing Dad yelled at Mufusa before. " 

"He was mad at him, but why would he kept a secret of his past like that from you and your younger brother? 

I honestly think that Mufusa would be a great leader as the leader of the Lion Guard." Shira said, "You should've seen us fighting against the Jackals. Mufusa really did fought them as he commanded us of what to do. " 

"Really?" Janna said, in total disbelief that her older brother would be the responsible sibling, even if he acts like a little child. 

"It's the truth! Besides, I don't think the Roar only lasts a minute for the Jackals to retreat. " Shira said, thinking back at the fight they had when they saved Vitani and her Lion Guard.

Penda nods, "You may have a pretty good point. Mufusa just discovered the Roar in the middle of the battle. 

I really hope he knows he can do it." 

Mufusa was all alone. As he sat on the edge of a hill, as he began to sing.

"Why? Why does nobody trust me at all? They told me I was destined to be a leader of the Guard, but then tell me I'm wrong?

But now, what shall I do? 

And who , who would I trust? Who would trust me enough to lead the Guard?

Now I felt so alone and upside down. 

Maybe it's a fluke, 

It's way too good to be true. 

Everyone looks up to me, of who I determine to be!" 

A spirit appears to the chestnut golden lion cub as she said, "Mufusa." 

The lion cub turns to see who was calling him. To his greatest surprise, he realizes who she was. 

"Hevi Kabisa, are you?" The cub asks, as the lioness chuckles at her grandson, "Yes, Mufusa. I am your grandmother, Sarabi." 

"Grandmother Sarabi. I've heard a great deal about you. You were my grandfather's mate, and a wise queen. " 

Sarabi chuckles, "And I've been watching you since you were born, Mufusa. You been chosen as a leader for the the Tree of Life's Lion Guard. You should be proud." 

Mufusa said, in a puzzling and concerned look, "But Dad wouldn't let me be the Leader of the Guard, and I haven't assemble my team yet, or able to use the Roar properly. 

It was loud, and I... I don't want to disappoint my parents again." 

"Have faith in yourself, Mufusa. The Roar would be there when you need it. And I would always be there when you're feeling troubled , and you will make your parents proud. 

Until the Night Pride's end." 

The lion cub notices his grandmother fading away, "Grandmother Sarabi! Don't leave yet!" 

The spirit of the wise queen didn't respond back. Mufusa knew what she meant by her wisdom.

"I can do this. I just have to believe in myself." 

"Maybe my journey only just begun, they need the leader and I'm the one!

With my friends, I may move along, with a group where I belong! 

 It is time! Time for me to lead on my own! 

It is time, for me to experience something that I never known before! 

The decision was made, the choice was done, now I believe I am truly am the one!" 

The red-orange symbol of the Mark of the Guard appears on his right shoulder as Mufusa sang softly, "Is it time?

Is it time? 

Yes. It is time!" 

Mufusa was happy to accept his new role in the Circle of life, as Auni came running towards the young lion.

"Mufusa! Mufusa! Your parents and the Night Pride, they're being surrounded by Jackals and they're hunting the animals as we speak!" 

"What? Oh, no!" Mufusa said, as he went to find his way to his parents, "Are you feeling ok about this?"

"Yeah, I think it's time to assemble the Night Pride's first ever Lion Guard! C'mon!" 

The cheetah smiles as he follows Mufusa, "Wait up, Mufusa!
